Why Shopify stores start shopping for an AiTrillion alternative
I have spent two years watching how ecommerce buyers actually search, and "AiTrillion alternatives" is one of the more confused queries in the Shopify space. Two completely different people type it. One wants a loyalty program and is cross-shopping Smile.io. The other half of that search intent is closer to our roundup of AI chatbots for Shopify. The other installed AiTrillion for the chat widget, watched it field order-status questions, and now wants to know whether a real support tool would do it better. Most roundups answer neither, because they treat AiTrillion as one product.
It is not. AiTrillion is a Shopify retention suite that has been on the Shopify App Store since May 2019, and its own pitch is that it replaces eleven-plus apps. Loyalty rewards, email, SMS, WhatsApp, web push, product reviews, memberships, affiliates, popups, forms, an announcement bar, product recommendations, POS, and an Ai Agent. It holds 4.9 out of 5 across 292 Shopify reviews and 4.9 across 77 on Capterra, with ease of use at 4.8 and customer service at 4.9. Those are earned numbers, and the most-repeated pro in both places is the support team.
So the reasons people leave are structural, not quality complaints.
You are buying the suite, not the module
Every published AiTrillion tier includes the full suite. That is the pitch, and for a store that genuinely uses eight of the modules it is excellent value. But it also means the only way to pay for less is the Custom plan, which is the single tier where "Need only specific modules" appears as an option, and which is quote-only.

Reviewers name this directly, and they name it kindly, which is usually the honest version:
"A bit complicated, because there are too many functions, you need to slowly get familiar with it"
Eleven tools in one dashboard is eleven tools to learn. Another reviewer with one to two years on the platform frames the upside of the same trade:
"They have all of the online business tools you would need to succeed, all in one place."
Both are true. Which one applies to you is the whole decision, and it is the same fork we hit when comparing an AI employee to a stack of point tools.
The meter has no support metric on it
This is the one I would want a buyer to check before renewing. Walk the AiTrillion ladder and ask what each step actually buys you:
| Plan | Monthly | Annual | Active contacts | Emails / month | SMS credits | Staff logins |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $9 | $8 | 500 | 1,500 | 50 | 0 |
| Basic | $19 | $16 | 1,000 | 1,500 | 50 | 0 |
| Growth | $49 | $41 | 2,500 | 7,500 | 50 | 1 |
| Professional | $99 | $82 | 5,000 | 15,000 | 100 | 2 |
| Advance | $199 | $166 | 15,000 | 60,000 | 500 | 4 |
| Enterprise | $399 | $333 | 40,000 | 200,000 | 1,000 | 8 |
| Enterprise Plus | $699 | $583 | 80,000 | 400,000 | 5,000 | 15 |
| Enterprise Super Plus | $999 | $833 | 120,000 | 600,000 | 10,000 | 30 |
Six columns, and not one of them counts a conversation, a ticket, or a resolution. The Ai Agent is listed as included at every tier, which is generous, and also means there is no published number telling you how much AI work you get. Compare that to a helpdesk rate card, where the ticket allowance and the overage rate are the first two things printed.
Two smaller details from the same page are worth knowing. Extra contacts are $10 per additional 1,000 per month, so growth is priced linearly rather than by tier jump. And on the order-based plan, exceeding your limit without upgrading triggers $20 per additional 50 orders, which is 40c an order, with the pricing FAQ recommending you call sales past 500 orders a month.
The plan names do not line up across surfaces
A small thing that trips up comparison, and worth flagging because it makes screenshots contradict each other. The Shopify App Store listing and AiTrillion's own pricing page use the same prices with different plan names, shifted by one tier:
| Price | Contacts | Name on Shopify listing | Name on aitrillion.com |
|---|---|---|---|
| $19 | 1,000 | Starter plan | Basic plan |
| $49 | 2,500 | Basic plan | Growth plan |
| $99 | 5,000 | Growth Plan | Professional plan |
The listing also opens at $19 while the site's own ladder starts at $9 for 500 contacts. Neither is wrong, they are just different entry points. If you are quoting a plan name in a procurement doc, quote the price too.
What I actually looked for
The stack of tools below is not one category, because AiTrillion is not one category. I split them by the job you are replacing, then held each one to four questions.
- Is the price published? A rate card you can read without a sales call is a real advantage, and it is how this whole piece stays checkable.
- What is the meter? Contacts, orders, tickets, resolutions or seats. This is the question that decides whether your bill tracks your work.
- Can you buy one module? AiTrillion's answer is "only on a custom plan". Several tools here sell single products at a published rate.
- If it touches support, can you test it before customers see it? This is the one I care most about, for reasons I will get to.
The 8 best AiTrillion alternatives at a glance
| Tool | Replaces | Entry price | Billing meter | Free tier | AI on support | Test before go-live | Platforms | Security | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| eesel AI | The AI chat / support half | 40c per ticket | Tickets handled | $50 free usage | Yes, core product | Yes, simulate on past tickets | Any helpdesk | SOC 2, HIPAA on Enterprise | Paying for support work, not list size |
| Gorgias | Support, end to end | $40/mo | Tickets + AI interactions | No, free trial | Yes, on every plan | Partial, flows and rules | Shopify, BigCommerce, WooCommerce, Magento | GDPR, audit logs Pro+ | An ecommerce helpdesk you grow into |
| Klaviyo | Email, SMS, push | Free | Active profiles | Yes, 250 profiles | Basic helpdesk included | No | Shopify, WooCommerce, Wix | GDPR | Marketing depth with a free on-ramp |
| Smile.io | Loyalty and referrals | Free | Monthly orders | Yes, 200 orders | No | No | Shopify Plus certified | SOC 2 on Plus+ | The cheapest credible loyalty program |
| Yotpo | Reviews and loyalty | Free | Monthly orders | Yes, both products | No | No | Shopify, BigCommerce, Magento, SFCC | Enterprise tier compliance | Reviews plus loyalty on one bill |
| Okendo | Reviews, loyalty, quizzes, referrals, surveys | $129/mo | Monthly orders | No | No | No | Shopify, Shopify Plus | GDPR, CCPA, SOC 2 | Buying exactly the modules you want |
| Stamped | Reviews, loyalty, lifecycle | $199/mo | Monthly orders | No, self-serve on Shopify | No | No | Shopify, Shopify Plus | Not published | Monthly terms with no contract |
| Rivo | Loyalty, referrals, memberships, cashback, accounts | $49/mo | Monthly orders | 7-day trial | No | No | Shopify | SOC 2 Type II, GDPR | Developer control over the loyalty layer |
A note on how to read that table: the four tools priced on monthly orders are directly comparable to each other, and none of them are comparable to the two priced on support volume. That is the split that matters.

1. eesel AI

What it is
I work on eesel, so treat this as the section with a thumb on the scale and check the numbers yourself. eesel is an AI teammate that connects to the helpdesk and store you already run, learns from your help centre, docs and past tickets, and handles the tickets you route to it. It does not replace Shopify apps and it has no loyalty module. It replaces exactly one thing AiTrillion does: the conversation.
Standout features
The one I would lead with is the part that came out of getting it wrong. We have watched a confident-sounding bot give wrong answers on a live queue, which is why every rollout now gets simulated against historical tickets before a customer sees anything. On a real trial with a German online jewellery retailer running about 1,000 tickets a month on Zendesk and Shopify, that simulation showed 93% triage accuracy and 100% spam detection across the 22% of their inbox that was spam, with zero false positives. It also showed only 12% of drafts were good enough to send untouched, and a 7% factual error rate. That second half is the useful half. You get to see it before go-live rather than in a customer's inbox.
Beyond that: it reads Shopify order data, so order tracking and returns questions get answered with the real order in hand rather than a canned macro. Refunds work the same way, which we cover in refund automation.
It replies in whatever language the customer wrote in, without being told which languages to expect. The same jewellery trial above handled German, English, French, Dutch, Spanish, Polish, Croatian and Turkish unprompted, which is the multilingual support case in practice rather than in theory. It runs the same across chat, WhatsApp and SMS. Gradual rollout is the default, so you can point it at 200 of your 1,000 monthly tickets and pay for 200.
Where it falls short
It does nothing on the marketing side. No email campaigns, no loyalty points, no popups, no affiliate program. If AiTrillion is doing five jobs for you, eesel replaces one of them and you still need the other four. It also needs decent source material: the same dossier that produced the numbers above includes an ecommerce director on Gorgias and Shopify who had to hand-train it on day one, typing corrections like "i would reference this page it is more accurate" into the widget. Knowledge that lives in untranscribed video is knowledge the AI cannot use.
Pricing
40c per ticket or chat handled, with no platform fee, no per-seat fee and no monthly minimum on the published rate card. A ticket is one task no matter how many replies it takes. 100 tickets is $40, 1,000 is $400, 2,500 is $1,000. $50 of free usage with no card, an annual commit takes 25% off, and Enterprise is a $1,000 monthly platform fee on top of usage for SSO, HIPAA and a BAA. The default spend cap is $250 with alerts at 50%, 75% and 100%.
Verdict
Right pick if the AI chat is why you were on AiTrillion and you want the bill to move with resolved work rather than list size. Wrong pick if you need the marketing suite, because it does not have one.
2. Gorgias

What it is
Gorgias is the ecommerce helpdesk most Shopify stores end up on, and it now sells the helpdesk and the AI Agent as one bill. It claims to power customer conversations for 40% of Shopify brands. Where AiTrillion has a chat module inside a marketing suite, Gorgias is the inverse: support is the product.
Standout features
Channel coverage is the widest here. Email, live chat, contact form, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok Shop and WhatsApp are on every plan, with Voice and SMS as add-ons from $25 and $17 a month on annual billing. The integration library is 254 apps and includes Klaviyo, Yotpo and Smile, so it slots next to whatever you keep from the AiTrillion stack. The AI Agent is on every plan, is pre-trained on 18-plus verticals, and takes actions like cancel, discount and apply on Basic and up. Seats are 500 on every plan above Starter, which matters if the AiTrillion staff-login ceiling was your problem.
Where it falls short
Two meters, so you have to watch both. Tickets and AI interactions have separate allowances and separate overages, and the AI overage is the one that moves: $1.50 per automated interaction past your included count, against a Starter allowance of 30. Audit logs are Pro and up. Brand voice, guardrails and AI actions are all off on Starter, so the cheapest tier is not really the AI tier. And the API rate limit is 2 requests per second on every published plan, with 4 reserved for Enterprise.
Pricing
Starter $40 a month for 50 tickets and 30 automated interactions. Basic $90 monthly or $77 on annual ($924 a year) for 300 tickets. Pro $550 monthly or $471 annual ($5,652 a year) for 2,000 tickets and 190 automated interactions. Advanced $1,430 monthly or $1,227 annual ($14,724 a year) for 5,000 tickets and 530 interactions. Ticket overage is 40c on the two cheap plans and 36c on the two expensive ones. There is no free plan, only a trial. We keep a longer list of Gorgias alternatives if you want the wider field, and a direct eesel and Gorgias comparison if you are down to those two.
Verdict
Right pick if you want one vendor owning the whole support surface, including phone and social. Wrong pick if you are already happy with your helpdesk, since you would be migrating a system of record to get an AI layer you could add on top instead.
3. Klaviyo

What it is
Klaviyo is the default answer for the email and SMS half of AiTrillion, and it is the tool AiTrillion reviewers on Capterra most often say they considered instead. It has also quietly grown past marketing: the free plan now includes a Customer Hub self-service portal and a basic helpdesk with a shared inbox and macros.
Standout features
The free tier is the real draw and it is not a trial. 250 active profiles, 500 emails a month, $5 of mobile messages, 10,000 Composer credits and built-in reporting, indefinitely, as long as you stay under the limits. Segmentation and automation are available on the free plan, not gated behind a paid tier, so you can build the flows before you pay. The Customer Hub gives shoppers order tracking and one-click "Buy again" without a support ticket, which is genuinely the self-service layer a lot of stores are missing, and a cheaper form of ticket deflection than answering the same question by hand. Klaviyo also runs beyond Shopify, on WooCommerce and Wix.
Where it falls short
Paid pricing is not on the pricing page in any readable form. You build a plan and the number appears, which makes it the hardest tool here to put in a comparison table honestly. Free-plan email support runs 60 days and then drops to community and help centre. And when you exceed the free limits, sending stops until you upgrade or the cycle resets, rather than overflowing into an overage. Its own AI features are marketing-side: subject lines and content generation, not ticket resolution.
Pricing
Free up to 250 profiles and 500 emails a month. Paid tiers are quoted from your profile count and send volume through the plan builder. Service, Composer and Customer Agent products were all showing 30% off at the time of writing.
Verdict
Right pick for the marketing half, especially if you want to move off AiTrillion's email and SMS caps without committing money on day one. Wrong pick if you need a published price to budget against before you sign up.
4. Smile.io

What it is
Smile.io does loyalty and referrals and nothing else, which is the entire argument for it. It is Shopify Plus certified, a 2026 Shopify Build Award winner, and the tool AiTrillion reviewers name most often alongside Yotpo when they say what they cross-shopped.
Standout features
The free plan covers 200 monthly orders with a points program, referrals, discount and free-shipping rewards, full branding customisation and multi-language support. That is a real loyalty program at zero, which is more than AiTrillion's 14-day trial gives you. The Klaviyo integration is deep enough that you can send every loyalty email through Klaviyo instead of Smile, which keeps your sending in one place. Enterprise publishes 99.9% historical uptime, SOC 2 compliance, audit logs and data warehouse sync.
Where it falls short
Integrations are rationed on the cheap tiers: one on Essential, two on Standard, unlimited only from Growth at $199. The VIP program and Loyalty Hub are Growth and up, so tiered loyalty is a $199 feature. API access starts at Plus, which is $999 on annual billing. And overage is steep in the middle of the ladder: $20 per 100 extra orders on Growth, falling to $5 per 100 on Plus.
Pricing
Free for 200 monthly orders. Essential $15 for 500 orders. Standard $79 for 1,000. Growth $199 for 2,500. Plus $999 on annual billing for 7,500. Enterprise is quoted, aimed at retailers over $40M in annual revenue, with unlimited orders.
Verdict
Right pick if loyalty is the only AiTrillion module you actually use and you would rather run it for free or $15 than $199 for a suite. Wrong pick if you need VIP tiers on a small budget, since that sits at $199.
5. Yotpo

What it is
Yotpo sells Reviews and UGC, Loyalty and Referrals, and an AI-visibility product called Discover, priced separately and discounted when bundled. It is the closest thing here to AiTrillion's shape, minus the email, SMS and support modules. Customers include IKEA, Glossier and Dr. Martens.
Standout features
Both core products have a free plan, which is unusual at this size: Loyalty and Referrals has a full free tier, and Reviews is free up to 50 monthly orders. Review syndication to Google Shopping Ads, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok covers ground the AiTrillion reviews module does not. And unlike most vendors on this list, Yotpo publishes its Starter and Pro prices openly and only quotes for Premium and Enterprise.
Where it falls short
The tier gating is where the real cost sits. The Klaviyo and Gorgias integrations are Pro and up, and helpdesk integrations for Zendesk and Freshdesk are Premium only. So is multi-store management, and so is API and webhook access. On Free, Starter and Pro, "live chat support" means an AI chatbot; a human is a Premium feature. Photo and video reviews need Starter, and custom questions need Pro.
Pricing
Reviews and UGC: free up to 50 monthly orders, paid from $15 a month, scaling with order volume. Loyalty and Referrals: free plan, paid from $199 a month. Discover is custom-priced. Bundling Reviews and Loyalty costs less than buying both.
Verdict
Right pick if reviews plus loyalty is the pair you care about and you want a free on-ramp for both. Wrong pick if you need the API or a helpdesk integration, which are both Premium.
6. Okendo

What it is
Okendo runs five products for Shopify brands, Reviews, Loyalty, Quizzes, Referrals and Surveys, and prices each one separately on monthly order volume. It says it serves 18,000-plus Shopify brands, and its customer list includes Skims, Rhode and Caraway.
Standout features
This is the cleanest answer to AiTrillion's "you can only unbundle on a custom plan" problem, because every module has its own published price and you buy the ones you want. Three bundles at 30% off group them by goal, and the full platform runs 40% below the sum of its parts. Platform Scale is the interesting one: a fixed annual price for unlimited orders, so your bill stops moving with volume entirely. All loyalty features are on every loyalty plan, with no tier gating, and it can backdate points up to 12 months prior to launch when you migrate.
Where it falls short
It is the most expensive per-module option here. At up to 3,500 monthly orders, Loyalty is $699 a month on its own, against $199 for AiTrillion's whole suite at 15,000 contacts. Platform and Bundle subscriptions normally require annual terms, though individual products can go monthly. And a lot sits behind add-ons rather than tiers: API access, headless support, Google Seller Ratings, and the Zendesk and Gorgias integrations are all add-ons on the lower plans. There is no free tier.
Pricing
At up to 3,500 monthly orders: Reviews $299, Loyalty $699, Quizzes $299, Referrals $129, Surveys $129. Bundles at that volume: Attract $390, Convert $509, Retain $789. Platform and Platform Scale are quoted. Everything scales with order volume across five bands from 0-200 up to 10,001-plus.
Verdict
Right pick if you want to buy precisely two or three modules at a published price and you have the budget for depth. Wrong pick if you were on AiTrillion because it was cheap, because this is several times the price.
7. Stamped

What it is
Stamped sells three products, Reviews, Loyalty and Lifecycle, built for Shopify and Shopify Plus. Lifecycle is the differentiated one: post-purchase, replenishment and win-back journeys timed on each customer's own behaviour, which is closer to retention technology than to a campaign tool.
Standout features
No contract on monthly plans, upgrade or downgrade or cancel any time, which is a genuinely different posture to Okendo's annual terms. All loyalty plans include unlimited orders, analytics and support. Reviews covers photo, video, checkout reviews, community Q&A, NPS and AI sentiment analysis in one product rather than laddering them. Support runs seven days a week including holidays, and migration help is included. Lifecycle overlaps with what we cover in AI email newsletters for ecommerce. Smaller brands can self-serve through the Shopify App Store listings rather than going through sales.
Where it falls short
Entry price is the highest floor here for a single module: $199 for Reviews, and $798 for multi-product access. Multi-domain gets expensive, with plans covering up to two domains and each additional one at $100 a month. Security posture is not published on the pricing page, which stands out next to Rivo's SOC 2 Type II and Okendo's SOC 2. And it is Shopify-only, so if you are also selling on BigCommerce or Magento it does not travel.
Pricing
Reviews $199 a month, Loyalty $299, Lifecycle $499, all on monthly order volume with bands from 200 up to unlimited. Single product from $199, multi-product from $798, with a 20% discount on the multi-product bundle.
Verdict
Right pick if you want reviews and loyalty on month-to-month terms with real onboarding help. Wrong pick if $199 is more than you were paying for the entire AiTrillion suite, which for many stores it is.
8. Rivo

What it is
Rivo is a Shopify retention platform built around loyalty, referrals, memberships, cashback and customer accounts, and it is the most developer-friendly option on this list. It publishes a full REST API, a JavaScript SDK, metafields and webhooks on every paid plan, and hosts everything white-labelled on your own domain.
Standout features
The Scale plan starts at $49 and carries 250,000 loyalty and referral participants, unlimited integrations and unlimited transactional loyalty emails, which is a lot of headroom for the money. The Cashback product is the distinctive one: ledger-backed store credit with configurable earn percentage and automatic expiry, which Rivo positions as keeping the margin on the sale you already won rather than discounting it away. SOC 2 Type II, GDPR compliance, a DPA on every plan, and 20-plus built-in fraud protection tools. Klaviyo, Gorgias, Recharge and Skio are all in the 50-plus integration list.
Where it falls short
The published ladder is only two rungs, Scale at $49-plus and Plus at $499, so the jump in the middle is a cliff rather than a step. Both cap at 2,500 monthly orders, meaning order growth pushes you to a custom quote rather than a published tier. The advanced Klaviyo integration, the one that passes all events for segmentation, is Plus and up; Scale gets the basic version. The free trial is seven days on Scale and does not exist on Plus. Cashback starts at $199 a month and Accounts at $499, on top of the loyalty plan.
Pricing
Scale from $49 a month, month to month, 200 to 2,500 orders, 3 POS locations, 7-day trial. Plus $499 a month, up to 2,500 orders, unlimited participants and POS locations. Enterprise is custom with unlimited orders. Cashback from $199, Accounts from $499, and a custom bundle across Cashback, Accounts, Loyalty, Referrals and Memberships.
Verdict
Right pick if you want to build loyalty into your theme yourself and have the API to do it. Wrong pick if you are over 2,500 monthly orders, since that is where the published prices stop.
So which one should you actually move to?
Start by naming the module, not the vendor. That single step resolves most of the confusion in this category.
If loyalty is the whole reason you are on AiTrillion, Smile.io's free plan or its $15 Essential tier does the job for a fraction of the suite price, and Rivo's $49 Scale plan gives you the API if you want to build it into the theme. Okendo and Stamped are the better products at three to five times the price.
If it is email and SMS, Klaviyo's free tier is the obvious on-ramp, and it now brings a self-service Customer Hub with it. That is the closest thing to a free lunch in this comparison.
If it is the AI chat, this is where the meter argument becomes concrete. AiTrillion's Ai Agent is included at every tier, priced against contacts, which means it is either a bargain or unmeasurable depending on your volume. A DTC supplements brand we worked with, running roughly 7,000 tickets a month on Gorgias and Shopify, wanted to auto-resolve half its WISMO, subscription and product-question volume. You cannot plan that against a contact ladder. You need a rate card with tickets on it, which is what Gorgias and eesel both give you. Our notes on ecommerce AI assistants and ecommerce chatbots go wider on the shape of that work.
And if the answer is "several modules, and the bundle price is genuinely good", then stay. That is a real conclusion and I would rather write it than pretend otherwise. AiTrillion at $199 for 15,000 contacts with eleven modules running is hard to beat on price. The trap is only the one case: paying a marketing meter for support work while telling yourself the chat widget is handling it.
Want an AI for your Shopify queue that you can size before you buy it? eesel connects to Gorgias, Zendesk, Freshdesk or whatever you already run, reads your Shopify orders and help centre, and answers WISMO, returns and product questions for 40c a ticket handled. Before it touches a customer, it runs against your own historical tickets so you see the accuracy and the gaps first. $50 of free usage, no credit card, and you can route 200 tickets at it instead of 2,000.

Try eesel or read how it fits the rest of the Shopify AI stack.
