Zoko pricing at a glance
Zoko is a WhatsApp sales, marketing and support platform built for Shopify. It's made by Bourbon Science Inc., has been on the Shopify App Store since December 2020, and holds 4.9 stars from 463 reviews on its listing. You install it from Shopify, connect a WhatsApp Business API number, and your team works broadcasts, cart recovery flows and customer chats from one shared inbox. If you're still comparing tools, my lists of the best WhatsApp chatbots and Shopify chatbot apps cover the wider field.

Here's every plan and limit from the pricing page:
| Starter | Plus | Elite | Max | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Plan fee | $49.99/month | $79.99/month | $139.99/month | $499.99/month |
| Conversations with no Zoko fee | None | First 5,000 | First 100,000 | All |
| Zoko fee per extra conversation | $0.015 | $0.00199 | $0.00099 | $0 |
| Calling minutes with no markup | 500 | 1,000 | 2,000 | 4,000 |
| Calling per extra minute | $0.005 | $0.004 | $0.003 | $0.002 |
| Agents included | Unlimited | 5 | 10 | 30 (see note) |
| Extra agent | n/a | $15/month | $12/month | $9/month |
| WhatsApp messages | Meta's rate card | Meta's rate card | Meta's rate card | Meta's rate card |
| $9.99/month | $9.99/month | $9.99/month | $9.99/month | |
| Facebook Messenger | $0 | $0 | $0 | $0 |
| Free trial | 7 days | 7 days | 7 days | 7 days |
A few things worth knowing before you read the table as gospel. Zoko says every feature is in every plan: broadcasts, the WhatsApp catalog, the chat widget, segments, click-to-WhatsApp ads, auto-distributing chats, analytics, and the API and webhooks. The catalog, widget and pop-ups carry Zoko branding on all plans. And the Max plan's agent count isn't consistent: the plan card says "Unlimited Agents", while the pricing FAQ and the Shopify listing both say Max includes 30 agents with extras at $9 each. I'd plan on the 30.
Billing works like most Shopify apps. All Zoko charges are in USD, and the Shopify listing says recurring and usage charges are billed every 30 days. The plan fee is charged on the first day of each period, and usage fees are worked out and charged after the month ends. There's no contract, and you can switch plans any time.
The second bill: Meta's WhatsApp fees
This is the part of Zoko pricing most comparison pages skip, and it's often the bigger number. Zoko's pricing page is direct about it: "You pay all WhatsApp messaging fees directly to Meta, at the rates on Meta's published rate card. Zoko is not involved in Meta's billing." In practice that means a Meta payment method on your WhatsApp Business account, and a Meta invoice next to your Zoko one.

Meta has charged per delivered message since July 1, 2025, and the rate depends on two things: the message category and the country code of the customer's phone number. Messages customers send you are free. The WhatsApp pricing changes post covers how the model got here, but for a store the three categories that matter are:
- Marketing: template messages you start for promotion, like broadcasts, abandoned cart nudges and back-in-stock alerts.
- Utility: template messages tied to an order or account, like order confirmations and shipping updates.
- Service: free-form replies inside the 24-hour window that opens when a customer messages you.
Here are Meta's list rates in USD, effective October 1, 2026, for the markets I see Zoko stores sell into most:
| Customer's country | Marketing | Utility | Service (after 1,000 free) |
|---|---|---|---|
| United States and Canada | $0.025 | $0.0034 | $0.0034 |
| India | $0.0118 | $0.0014 | $0.0014 |
| United Kingdom | $0.0635 | $0.022 | $0.022 |
| United Arab Emirates | $0.0576 | $0.0157 | $0.0157 |
| Brazil | $0.0625 | $0.0068 | $0.0068 |
| Germany | $0.1365 | $0.055 | $0.055 |
The spread is wide. A marketing message to a customer in Germany costs more than 11 times what it costs to one in India. So 3,000 marketing messages cost about $35 to customers in India and about $410 to customers in Germany. Meta does give volume discounts on utility messages, and Zoko's own estimator accounts for them, but marketing has no volume tier.
What changed on October 1, 2026
Until the end of September 2026, service replies were free. That's no longer true. Meta now gives each business phone number 1,000 free service messages a month, and charges every one after that at the service rate for the customer's country. Unused free messages don't roll over. Utility messages sent inside an open customer window, which had also been free since July 2025, are charged again too.

For a busy support inbox, this matters more than any Zoko plan change. A UK store sending 30,000 service replies a month now pays Meta $638 for them, where it paid nothing in September. If your team or a bot sends three short messages where one would do, that's now three charges. The one clean exception is ads: when a customer starts a chat from a click-to-WhatsApp ad on their phone, Meta opens a free window of up to 7 days where marketing, utility and service messages aren't charged. My guide to Meta's 2026 platform updates has more on how that window works.
If a bot answers your WhatsApp chats, every reply it sends counts toward the 1,000 too. My post on AI WhatsApp support covers that setup for ecommerce, and Meta's chatbot rules explain what a WhatsApp bot is allowed to do.
How Zoko's conversation fee works
On top of Meta's fees, Zoko charges a small fee of its own per conversation on the lower plans. Zoko defines a conversation as "a 24-hour session that starts when the first message from your business is delivered." That first message can be a broadcast you send or your reply to a customer.
The plans are priced so each one is cheapest for a band of conversation volume. Zoko's estimator spells out the bands:

The math checks out. On Starter, 2,000 conversations at $0.015 each is $30, which takes you to $79.99, the price of Plus. On Plus, 35,000 conversations means 30,000 over the free 5,000, at $0.00199, which lands near Elite's $139.99. So the rule is simple: once you pass about 2,000 conversations a month, Starter is the expensive plan. The low sticker price only wins for a store that's just getting going on WhatsApp.
One merchant review is worth reading with that in mind. A fashion store that had used Zoko for about a year wrote:
"They increased the plan pricing without notice and you have no choice but to accept it. When you downgrade the plan, their conversation charges skyrockets. Not worth the cost."
The second half of that is how the pricing is built: dropping from Plus to Starter takes away the 5,000 free conversations, and every one is then charged at $0.015. If your volume is above 2,000, downgrading to save $30 usually costs more.
There's one small gap between Zoko's two price lists. The pricing page says Max has "No markup" on conversations, while the Shopify listing says Max includes 5 million conversations and charges $0.00049 each after that. Almost no store will hit 5 million, so it's unlikely to matter, but it's the kind of thing I'd confirm in writing if you're on Max.
Add-ons: Instagram, Zoko Flows and Zoko AI
The plan fee covers the WhatsApp inbox, broadcasts and the pre-built flows. Three things cost extra, and you only pay for the ones you switch on.

| Add-on | Price | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| $9.99/month | Instagram DMs and comments in the Zoko inbox | |
| Essential flows | Free | 11 pre-built flows: abandoned checkout, reviews, COD confirmation, COD to prepaid, reorder reminders, upsells, order notifications |
| Premium flows | $5.99/month per flow | Any custom flow, or a pre-built flow you edit |
| Flow steps | 500,000 a month free, then $0.0002 per step | Each action in a flow run is one step |
| Guru AI agent | $24.99/month + $0.09 per resolution | Answers repeat FAQs from your store policies and products |
| Wismo AI agent | $24.99/month + $0.09 per resolution | Answers "where is my order?" with live tracking |
| Sello AI agent | $24.99/month + 3% of order value | Takes orders in chat and collects payment |
Two details here change the math. First, editing a pre-built flow, even just adding or removing a node, turns it into a premium flow at $5.99 a month. Flows are charged by the day, so you only pay for days a flow is published. Second, the AI agents bill per resolution, and the first 100 resolutions or orders are free. Zoko's page doesn't say whether those 100 reset each month, so I'd ask before you count on it. If Instagram DMs are a big channel for you, my guide to Instagram chatbots shows what else is out there.
Per-resolution billing deserves a second look. It sounds fair, but it means your bill grows exactly when the bot does its job, and it doubles in your busy season. I've written up the deflection vs resolution difference in detail, and it's worth knowing what Zoko counts as "resolved" before a sale week. If most of your volume is order tracking, my posts on WISMO automation and AI order tracking cover how other tools handle that job.
Zoko pricing calculator
Plug in your own monthly WhatsApp numbers. The calculator picks the cheapest Zoko plan for your volume and team, then adds Meta's fees for your customers' country, so you see both bills side by side.
The pattern I see when I run real store numbers through it: for any store sending marketing to the US, UK or Europe, Meta's bill is bigger than Zoko's. Zoko's plan choice moves the total by tens of dollars. How many broadcasts you send moves it by hundreds.
What three real store shapes would pay
To make this concrete, here are three stores I built from the calculator above. Each uses Zoko's own counting rule (one conversation per marketing or utility message, plus one per 10 service messages) and Meta's October 2026 list rates.
| Small Indian D2C store | US Shopify brand | UK brand, busy inbox | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Marketing / utility / service messages | 3,000 / 2,000 / 4,000 | 10,000 / 5,000 / 8,000 | 20,000 / 15,000 / 30,000 |
| Team members | 2 | 6 | 12 |
| Add-ons | None | Instagram, Guru (600 resolutions) | Instagram, Guru (1,500 resolutions) |
| Cheapest plan | Plus | Plus | Elite |
| Zoko bill | $80.79 | $205.46 | $333.97 |
| Meta bill | $42.40 | $290.80 | $2,238.00 |
| Total a month | $123.19 | $496.26 | $2,571.97 |
Three things stand out. The small Indian store is better off on Plus than Starter, even at 5,400 conversations, because Starter would charge $81 in markup. The US brand pays $116.48 for Plus with one extra agent, and Elite at $139.99 wouldn't be worth it until the team grows past 7 people. And the UK brand's Zoko bill is only 13% of its total: Meta's marketing rate of $0.0635 does most of the damage.
If you're budgeting a whole support stack, not just WhatsApp, my guide to AI customer service costs and the cost per ticket benchmarks give you numbers to compare against.
Hidden costs and gotchas
Most of Zoko's pricing is laid out clearly, which I appreciate. The surprises sit around the edges:
- Your number leaves the WhatsApp app. Once a number is set up on the WhatsApp API, it can't be used in the WhatsApp phone app at the same time. If your team answers from a phone today, plan for everyone to move into the Zoko inbox.
- The trial converts to a full month. The 7-day trial is free, but one merchant reported being charged the full month's fee right after it ended. Shopify apps bill in 30-day cycles, so cancel before day 7 if you're not staying.
- Calling is metered. Each plan includes WhatsApp calling minutes without Zoko's markup, from 500 on Starter to 4,000 on Max, and then charges per minute. Meta bills calls on its own rate card.
- Annual pricing isn't published. Zoko says you can pay monthly or yearly, but the page lists only monthly prices. Discounts are reserved for brands committing to 250,000 or more conversations a month on an annual plan.
- Taxes are extra. Zoko's estimator excludes taxes, and Meta bills in the currency chosen when your WhatsApp account was created.
On that trial point, here's how the merchant put it:
"Extremely bad experience! Just used the 7 days free trial and yet they are charging the entire month's charges!"
To be fair to Zoko, these are a small share of its reviews. Of 463 ratings, 92% are 5 stars and 13 are 1 star.
What merchants say about the price
Most of Zoko's reviews talk about support and results more than cost, and when price comes up it's usually positive. A recent review from an Indian fashion brand, four months in, was short:
"Great app. Worth the money."
On G2, where Zoko has 5 reviews and a 4.5 rating, a website developer called it cheap and easy to roll out:
"Easy to integrate and use. Easy WhatsApp bot builder Easy to Use and More convenient reporting It's easy to use and inexpensive."
The negative reviews tend to be about value over time rather than the sticker price: flows that stopped working reliably, or AI features that did less than expected. One Mexican store described its experience as "mixed", saying many advertised features "either don't work reliably or require workarounds". I'd treat the 7-day trial as a real test of the exact flows and bot you plan to pay for, not a tour of the inbox.
Is Zoko worth the money?
For a Shopify brand that sells on WhatsApp, yes, with one condition: you've done the Meta math first. Zoko's own fees are low and honest. Plus at $79.99 is the cheapest plan from about 2,000 to 35,000 conversations a month, every feature is unlocked, and Messenger is free. Compared with other Shopify chat tools I've priced, like MooseDesk, Chatty or Tidio, Zoko is built around WhatsApp marketing first, and that's where it earns its fee.
Where I'd think twice:
- You mainly need support, not campaigns. If WhatsApp is one channel among email, chat and Instagram, a helpdesk with a WhatsApp integration keeps everything in one queue. Gorgias's pricing is the usual comparison.
- Your customers are in high-rate countries. In Germany or the Netherlands, marketing messages cost $0.14 to $0.16 each. A big broadcast list there is a real budget line.
- You want a smarter AI agent. Guru answers FAQs from your policies and products. If you want an agent that also reads past tickets and takes actions across your stack, look at the options in my WhatsApp support AI roundup, or the Shopify support AI list.
If you're also weighing other WhatsApp platforms, my respond.io pricing breakdown uses the same Meta rate card, which makes it an easy side-by-side.
Where an AI helpdesk teammate fits
Zoko's AI agents live inside Zoko. That's fine if Zoko is your whole support operation. But a lot of the Shopify stores I talk to run WhatsApp next to email, chat and social, and all of it lands in a helpdesk. In that setup, the job you want done is "answer this ticket correctly, whatever channel it came from," and that's the job eesel's AI helpdesk teammate was built for. Freshdesk teams can do the same with WhatsApp in Freshdesk.
eesel joins your existing helpdesk, such as Gorgias or Zendesk, learns from the replies your team has already sent, and looks up the Shopify order before it writes anything. It can also answer directly on your WhatsApp number. Two stores show what that looks like day to day:
- Rúngne, a Norwegian climbing apparel brand, runs three eesel agents on Gorgias across email, live chat and social. In one month eesel handled about 2,100 tickets, tagged 880, and left 580 draft replies for the team, after checking Shopify order, tracking and stock data.
- Question Beauty, a direct-to-consumer cosmetics brand, uses eesel on Gorgias for Messenger, email and chat. In a month it looked up 290 Shopify orders and closed 280 tickets without a person, in the language the customer wrote in.
I'll be straight about price, too. eesel's pricing is a fixed monthly batch of credits: $299 a month for 500, up to $1,749 for 5,000, where a ticket or chat is one credit however long it runs. That's the same bill whether the AI resolves the chat or hands it to a person, so a sale week doesn't change the rate. But if all you need is an FAQ bot on WhatsApp for a few hundred chats a month, Zoko's Guru at $24.99 plus $0.09 a resolution is cheaper. eesel earns its price when one teammate covers every channel in your helpdesk, drafts and tags, and reads your order data. And either way, Meta still bills its service fee for each reply sent on WhatsApp.
Try eesel with your Shopify store
If your WhatsApp, email and chat questions all end up in Gorgias or Zendesk, eesel works like a new support hire who already knows your Shopify catalog and orders. It reads your past replies, answers "where's my order?" with the real tracking, and hands refunds and complaints to your team with a note, the way it does for Question Beauty. You can try it free with 100 credits, no card. Try eesel.
Would you rather hand off the whole inbox? eesel's Managed Support runs every customer conversation, WhatsApp included, inside your own tools for a flat monthly fee.
