Zipchat plans and prices in 2026
I spend most of my week on what people actually type into Google, and "Zipchat pricing" is rarely a question about the plan grid. It's "what will my bill be at my volume?" The grid is the easy part, so here it is first.
Zipchat's pricing page opens on annual prices and asks for your monthly visitor count to suggest a plan. Every paid plan has a 7-day free trial and a 30-day money-back guarantee on the first payment.

Monthly prices come from the Shopify App Store listing, and Zipchat's own FAQ confirms Starter is "$80/month billed monthly". Annual prices and Scale Plus come from the pricing page.
| Plan | Monthly | Annual (per month) | AI replies / month | Conversations (Zipchat's estimate) | Training pages | AI agents | Extra replies | Support |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free (Shopify only) | $0 | $0 | 120 | ~50 | 100 | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed |
| Starter | $80 | $64 ($768/yr) | 750 | ~300 | 1,000 | 1 | $49 / 250 | Standard |
| Pro | $300 | $240 ($2,880/yr) | 3,000 | ~1,250 | 75,000 | 3 | $49 / 250 | Priority |
| Scale | $600 | $480 ($5,760/yr) | 6,000 | ~2,500 | 300,000 | 5 | $49 / 250 | Priority |
| Scale Plus | Annual only | $960 ($11,520/yr) | 14,000 | ~6,000 | Unlimited | 10 | $49 / 500 | Priority |
| Unlimited | From $2,100 | Quote | Unlimited | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed | None | Not listed |
Every paid plan includes the same channels (chat widget, email, WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger), unlimited team members, human escalation, API access and the Shopify and WooCommerce integrations. So the plans differ on volume, training pages, AI agents and support speed, not on features. That's unusual, and it's good news: you never pay more to unlock a channel, which is not how most chatbot pricing works.
Type in your expected replies and the calculator below prices both billing options, with reply packs where they're cheaper than the next plan.
Type your monthly AI replies, or tap a preset, to see the cheapest Zipchat plan on monthly and annual billing, including $49 reply packs.
What counts as a billable AI reply?
This is the part I'd read twice. Zipchat's pricing FAQ says a reply is "any response the AI sends to a visitor or customer", and that "each outbound AI message counts as one reply", across chat, email, WhatsApp and Instagram.
I've seen how billing per message lands with real buyers. When eesel billed per interaction, one prospect burned through 200 interactions in a single test day and started worrying about a month of about 9,000. Another, at very high volume, projected roughly $30k a month at about 20 cents each and found the unit hard to reason about. eesel has since moved to counting a whole ticket as one credit. Zipchat's per-reply model isn't wrong, but you should know exactly what moves the meter before you pick a plan.

Four things push the count up, and one pulls it down:
- Every channel shares one pool. Zipchat's FAQ says replies "across all channels count toward your plan's monthly reply limit". Turning on WhatsApp or Instagram is free, but those chats draw from the same 750 or 3,000 replies.
- Polite sign-offs are replies. A happy G2 reviewer flagged the bot's habit of answering a thank-you, quoted below. Each of those is a billable message.
- A missing Zendesk trigger doubles replies. Zipchat's Zendesk setup guide warns that without the "Ticket Is Updated" condition on the customer-reply trigger, "the bot replies twice to new tickets". That's a setup slip that quietly doubles your bill.
- Follow-up nudges count. AI follow-ups are on every plan, and by Zipchat's own definition every outbound AI message is a reply.
- Human takeover stops the meter. When an agent clicks "Take Over" on a chat, the AI stops replying until someone clicks "Enable AI Replies" again, per the takeover docs.
"Sometimes I feel like the chatbot is a little bit too persistent. It keeps asking customers if they need more help even after they've already said no or thanked it."
He adds that "you can tweak that", and that's my advice too: tighten the closing behaviour in the prompt during the trial, before it shows up on a bill. My sibling Zipchat review covers how the training and prompt settings work.
What each reply actually costs, plan by plan
Zipchat's FAQ says "the cost per individual reply drops with each tier". That's true at the ends of the ladder, but the middle is flat.

| Plan | Per reply (monthly) | Per reply (annual) | Per conversation (monthly) | Per conversation (annual) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $0.107 | $0.085 | ~$0.27 | ~$0.21 |
| Pro | $0.100 | $0.080 | ~$0.24 | ~$0.19 |
| Scale | $0.100 | $0.080 | ~$0.24 | ~$0.19 |
| Scale Plus | Annual only | $0.069 | Annual only | ~$0.16 |
| Extra pack (Starter to Scale) | $0.196 | $0.196 | n/a | n/a |
| Extra pack (Scale Plus) | n/a | $0.098 | n/a | n/a |
Per-conversation figures use Zipchat's own "around" conversation estimates for each plan. My arithmetic, not Zipchat's.
Three things stand out:
- Pro and Scale price a reply the same, at 10 cents monthly or 8 cents annually. Scale buys headroom, 5 AI agents and 300,000 training pages, not a cheaper reply.
- Overage replies cost about twice a plan reply. A $49 pack of 250 works out to 19.6 cents a reply. That's why Zipchat itself says "upgrading to the next plan is almost always more cost-effective".
- Scale Plus is the only real per-reply discount, at 6.9 cents, and its packs are half-price ($49 per 500). It's annual-only, so you commit $11,520 upfront.
On conversations, Zipchat assumes about 2.3 to 2.5 replies each. If your shoppers ask a string of sizing and shipping questions, your real ratio will be higher, and the per-conversation price rises with it. Check the ratio in your first trial week, using the same thinking as my guide to deflection vs resolution rate.
When to buy reply packs and when to upgrade
Because packs cost double, the switch point comes earlier than most people expect. On monthly billing, here's where the next plan beats stacking packs:

| Your monthly AI replies | Cheapest monthly option | Cheapest annual option |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 750 | Starter, $80 | Starter, $64 |
| 751 to 1,500 | Starter + 1 to 3 packs, $129 to $227 | Starter + 1 to 3 packs, $113 to $211 |
| 1,501 to 1,750 | Starter + 4 packs, $276 | Pro, $240 |
| 1,751 to 4,000 | Pro + up to 4 packs, $300 to $496 | Pro + up to 4 packs, $240 to $436 |
| 4,001 to 4,500 | Pro + 5 or 6 packs, $545 to $594 | Scale, $480 |
| 4,501 to 7,750 | Scale + up to 7 packs, $600 to $943 | Scale + up to 7 packs, $480 to $823 |
| 7,751 to 8,250 | Scale + 8 or 9 packs, $992 to $1,041 (or Scale Plus annual, $960) | Scale + 8 or 9 packs, $872 to $921 |
| 8,251 to 25,500 | Scale Plus (annual only) is cheapest, $960 to $2,087 | Scale Plus + up to 23 packs, $960 to $2,087 |
| Above 25,500 | Ask for the Unlimited quote, from $2,100 | Ask for the Unlimited quote, from $2,100 |
The rule of thumb: once you'd need a fifth pack on Starter, move to Pro. Annual billers should move up a little sooner, because the cheaper annual base narrows the gap. Zipchat lets you upgrade or downgrade from the dashboard, with changes taking effect "immediately or at your next billing cycle".
The Unlimited plan is the interesting one for big stores. Zipchat pitches it as "a fixed price for unlimited usage", paid monthly with the rate locked for 12 months. Below about 25,500 replies, Scale Plus with packs is cheaper than even the $2,100 floor.
Monthly or annual billing?
Annual billing saves 20%, but the fine print matters. You pay the year upfront, and Zipchat's FAQ says "unused months on an annual plan are not refunded". The 30-day money-back guarantee covers only the first payment.
So the break-even is simple: 12 months at 80% is 9.6 months of monthly billing. If you're not confident you'll still be on Zipchat in about 10 months, monthly is the safer bet.
I'd pay monthly in three situations:
- You're still in your first quarter. You don't know your real replies-per-chat ratio yet, and picking the wrong annual tier locks in the mistake.
- Your volume is seasonal. A store that doubles in November can bump to the next plan for the peak and drop back, which beats buying packs for one month. My guide to Black Friday support covers planning for the spike.
- You might want Scale Plus later. It's annual-only, and upgrading mid-year is a bigger commitment than starting fresh.
Pay annually once two or three months of reply data show a steady volume. At that point the 20% is real money: $192 a year on Starter, $720 on Pro and $1,440 on Scale.
Hidden costs to budget for
Zipchat is upfront about its pricing, and it says it charges only for the standard plans "with no hidden fees". A few costs still sit outside the plan price:
- The Free plan is a Shopify App Store plan. It appears on the Shopify listing, not on zipchat.ai, so WooCommerce or BigCommerce stores start on a paid trial.
- Meta charges for WhatsApp marketing. Zipchat notes Meta's fee for starting a marketing conversation, "$0.02 per chat initiated" in the US. My guide to WhatsApp API pricing explains Meta's side of that bill.
- Each store needs its own plan. Zipchat says multi-store pricing is a sales conversation, so a brand with three storefronts budgets three plans.
- Shopify installs bill through Shopify. The charge lands on your Shopify invoice, and the listing says charges are "billed every 30 days".
- Future add-ons. The FAQ is candid that Zipchat "may introduce additional charges for new features", while promising current features stay included for existing customers.
- Your team still answers the hard tickets. Zipchat says it handles "90%+ of inquiries", but refunds, damaged parcels and exceptions still need a person, usually in a separate helpdesk like Gorgias with its own bill.
Two smaller notes. G2's pricing panel lists different numbers ($49, $129, $249), so go by Zipchat's own pricing page. And the pricing page shows "4.8 on G2", while the G2 profile shows 4.5 from 11 reviews.
Support speed is part of the cost too. Zipchat's about page promises a reply "within one business day", and most reviewers are happy, but a few weren't:
"Back to Tidio they may be a little more expensive but they give support."
That's one review on an unclaimed page, so treat it as a thing to test in the trial rather than a pattern.
Worked examples: what three Shopify stores would pay
Here's what Zipchat would cost at three sizes, assuming 2.5 AI replies per chat, which is close to Zipchat's own estimate. All prices are vendor list prices; the totals are my arithmetic.
| Store | AI chats / month | AI replies | Cheapest monthly | Cheapest annual | Per chat (monthly) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Small apparel store | 250 | 625 | Starter, $80 | Starter, $64 | $0.32 |
| Growing beauty brand | 1,000 | 2,500 | Pro, $300 | Pro, $240 | $0.30 |
| Busy outdoor gear store | 3,000 | 7,500 | Scale + 6 packs, $894 | Scale + 6 packs, $774 | $0.30 |
| Beauty brand in November | 2,000 | 5,000 | Scale, $600 (vs Pro + 8 packs, $692) | n/a | $0.30 |
The small store is the sweet spot: Starter covers it with room to spare. The growing brand lands squarely on Pro. The busy store is the one to watch. At 7,500 replies it pays for six packs every month, and if volume keeps growing, the annual Scale Plus plan at $960 becomes the cheaper home from about 8,250 replies on annual billing.
The November row is the case for monthly billing. Pro plus eight packs costs $692 for the spike month, while switching to Scale for that month costs $600.
How Zipchat compares on cost per conversation
Every AI support tool in this space bills on a different unit, which makes sticker prices misleading. Here's the same question, "what does one AI-handled conversation cost?", answered from each vendor's own pricing page.
| Tool | Billing unit | Entry paid price | Cost per AI conversation | What's included |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Zipchat | Each AI reply | $80/mo for 750 replies | ~$0.27 on Starter, ~$0.24 on Pro | Storefront chat, email, WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger |
| Chatty | Each AI conversation | $19.99/mo for 100 | $0.20 on Basic, $0.40 per extra | Shopify chat and helpdesk |
| Tidio Lyro | Each Lyro conversation, any number of AI replies | From $32.50/mo | Varies by quota tier | AI agent, usable on Tidio or another helpdesk |
| Gorgias AI Agent | Each automated interaction (a conversation the AI resolves) | $40/mo Starter with 30 included | $0.85 to $1.00 | Full helpdesk plus AI agent |
| eesel | Each ticket or chat, 1 credit however long | $299/mo for 500 credits | $0.60, down to $0.35 at 5,000 | AI teammate inside your helpdesk, plus chat and email |
On pure cost per storefront chat, Zipchat is among the cheapest sales-capable options, and merchants notice. Fytique, a UK store that moved over from Tidio, wrote that Zipchat stands above the rest "not only in its features and content, but also in its pricing" (Shopify review). Chatty is cheaper still at the low end, as my Chatty review explains.
The units are not interchangeable, though. A Zipchat reply is one message. A Gorgias automated interaction is a whole ticket the AI closed with no human, which is why it costs more. For the long version of this argument, see my breakdown of cost per resolution, and for the Gorgias side, Gorgias pricing for Shopify. Tidio's pricing post walks through its newer billable-conversation model.
Where eesel fits, and what it costs
I'll be straight about the overlap. Zipchat is a storefront AI built to sell. eesel is an AI helpdesk teammate: it joins the queue you already run in Gorgias or Zendesk, reads the Shopify order before it replies, and learns from the replies your team has already sent. They answer different bills.
eesel's pricing is a fixed monthly batch of credits, and a ticket or chat is 1 credit, however long. A shopper who sends five follow-ups costs the same as one who sends one. The Free plan gives 100 credits with no card. The Teammate plan starts at $299 a month for 500 credits and goes up to $1,749 for 5,000, with every integration and unlimited seats on every plan.
Per conversation, Zipchat's Starter is cheaper than eesel, and I'd rather say that plainly. Where eesel earns its price is the work after the first answer. STIL Classics, a planner brand on Shopify and Gorgias, had eesel prepare about 320 Gorgias tickets in a month, looking up about 230 Shopify orders before drafting replies a person checks and sends. A month like that fits inside the 500-credit plan.

Cape Coffee Beans shows the other side. It runs eesel on Zendesk, Shopify and Google Drive, where it ran about 160 scheduled checks in a month, including a morning sweep of the Zendesk queue for tickets that slipped through. That isn't storefront chat at all, and it's work a per-reply chatbot isn't priced for.
Plenty of stores run both: a sales chat on the storefront and an AI teammate on the helpdesk. If you're weighing that, my AI helpdesks for Shopify roundup and the post on AI layers vs built-in AI cover the trade-offs. Before a customer sees anything, eesel runs on your past tickets first, which I explain in training AI on past tickets.
Is Zipchat worth the price?
For a Shopify store that wants its chat to sell, yes. Starter at $80 a month is a fair price for a storefront agent that recommends products, hands out discount codes and answers in any language, and every channel comes included. The per-reply unit is the thing to manage, not a reason to walk away.
My practical advice:
- Start on monthly Starter and watch your replies-per-chat ratio for two weeks.
- Tighten the closing behaviour in the prompt so the bot doesn't answer every thank-you.
- Move to Pro at the fifth pack, not the tenth.
- Switch to annual only after two or three steady months, and only if you'll stay about 10 months or more.
- Price the helpdesk side separately. Storefront chat and ticket work are different jobs with different bills.
If you want more options, my list of Shopify chatbot apps covers the wider field. Coming from Tidio? Start with my Tidio alternatives. And my guide to chatbot ROI shows how to judge any of these against the revenue they bring in.
Try eesel
Zipchat prices the storefront conversation. The tickets that come after the sale, "where's my order?", "can I change the monogram?", "it arrived damaged", are where eesel works. It joins your Gorgias or Zendesk queue as an AI teammate, checks the Shopify order first, and drafts or sends the reply in your team's voice, billed as one credit per ticket no matter how many messages it takes.
Try eesel free with 100 credits, connect your helpdesk and Shopify, and run it on last month's real tickets before a single customer sees a reply.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does Zipchat cost?
Zipchat costs $80 (Starter), $300 (Pro) or $600 (Scale) a month on monthly billing, for 750, 3,000 or 6,000 AI replies. Annual billing drops those to $64, $240 and $480 a month and adds Scale Plus at $960. The Unlimited plan is quoted from $2,100 a month. My Zipchat review covers what you get for that price.
Is there a free Zipchat plan?
Yes, but only on the Shopify App Store: 120 AI replies a month, about 50 conversations, and training on 100 pages. Paid plans come with a 7-day free trial. For other free options, see my list of Shopify chatbot apps.
What counts as a reply in Zipchat pricing?
Every outbound AI message counts as one reply, on any channel, so a chat with three questions uses three replies. Polite sign-offs and follow-up nudges count too. Plan your Zipchat pricing on replies, not chats, the same way I suggest in my guide to chatbot costs.
How much do extra Zipchat replies cost?
Extra replies cost $49 per 250 on Starter, Pro and Scale (about 20 cents each) and $49 per 500 on Scale Plus. That's roughly double a plan reply, so upgrading usually beats buying more than four packs. Compare that with Chatty's pricing, which charges $0.40 per extra AI conversation.
Is Zipchat annual billing worth it?
Annual billing saves 20%, but it is paid upfront and unused months are not refunded. It pays off if you stay about 10 months or more. Seasonal stores often do better on monthly billing, as I explain in my guide to holiday support spikes.
Is Zipchat cheaper than an AI helpdesk teammate?
Per storefront conversation, yes: Zipchat's Starter works out to about $0.27 a chat, against $0.60 per ticket on eesel's 500-credit plan. eesel does different work, though, inside your helpdesk on a whole ticket at a time. See eesel pricing and the AI helpdesks for Shopify roundup.
