How much does VanChat cost in 2026?
I build AI agents at eesel, and the first thing I check on any AI pricing page isn't the price. It's the unit: what exactly gets counted, and when does the counter tick? On VanChat the answer is clean and public, which I appreciate. There are two counters, AI replies and products learned, and one overage rate.

Here's every plan, checked on October 22, 2026 against vanchat.io/pricing and the Shopify listing:
| Plan | Monthly price | Annual price (Shopify listing) | AI replies/month | Products learned | Extra AI reply | Free trial |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | n/a | 100 | 100 | Not listed | n/a |
| Starter | $39 | $390/year | 500 | 1,000 | $0.09 | 7 days |
| Pro | $149 | $1,490/year | 2,500 | 2,500 | $0.09 | 7 days |
| Growth | $249 | $2,490/year | 5,000 | 5,000 | $0.09 | 7 days |
| Scale | $499 | Not on listing | 12,000 | 12,000 | $0.09 | 7 days |
| Business | $799 | $665.83/month billed annually (website) | 20,000 | 20,000 | Not listed | 14 days |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom | Custom | Custom | Custom | Contact sales |
A few things that sit outside the table but affect your bill:
- Visitors are unlimited on every plan, so traffic spikes don't cost you anything until someone actually chats.
- Human replies are unlimited from Starter up, per the listing, and human handoff is on every plan. Your team taking over a chat in Shopify Inbox or VanChat's own live chat doesn't touch the AI meter.
- Billing runs in USD every 30 days, for both the subscription and usage charges, according to the Shopify listing. That's a rolling 30-day cycle, not a calendar month.
The feature split matters as much as the reply count. From the vanchat.io comparison table: AI sales automation and exporting conversation history start on Pro. Instagram and Facebook start on Pro too. Gorgias, Klaviyo, multi-market support and removing VanChat branding start on Growth. Priority support also starts on Growth, and Business adds a dedicated customer success contact.
Where the website and the Shopify listing disagree
VanChat publishes prices in two places, and they don't match line for line. Neither is wrong, they just show different slices, but you should know which one you're reading before you budget.

| What | vanchat.io/pricing | Shopify App Store listing |
|---|---|---|
| Free plan | Not shown | 100 AI replies, 100 products |
| Plans shown | Starter, Pro, Growth, Scale, Business, Enterprise | Free, Starter, Pro, Growth |
| Annual discount | Toggle reads "30% off" for the first year during the promo | "Save 17%" ($390, $1,490, $2,490 a year) |
| Current promo | 30% off the first 3 months on monthly billing, ends October 31 | Not shown |
| Plans above 5,000 replies | Scale (12,000), Business (20,000), Enterprise | Not listed |
| Billing details | Not stated | USD, every 30 days |
My read: the website is the full catalog and the listing is the entry-level view most Shopify merchants see first. If you want the Free plan, install from the listing. If you need more than 5,000 replies, the website is the only place Scale and Business are priced. And if you're comparing annual options, note that the 30% annual offer on the website applies to the first year, after which I'd expect the standard annual rate. VanChat doesn't spell out the renewal price, so ask before you commit.
Older third-party summaries still quote a "Startup" plan with different reply counts. Those are outdated. Use the two vendor pages above, and screenshot the plan you pick on the day you buy.
What counts as an AI reply in VanChat?
This is where I'd slow down, because it's the part that decides your bill. An AI reply is one answer the bot sends. It isn't a conversation, a session or a resolved question. One shopper, one chat, four questions means four replies.

That's not a criticism. Per-reply billing is honest and predictable if you know your reply pattern. It's the same model Zipchat uses, and it's simpler than per-resolution pricing, where someone has to define what "resolved" means. The catch is that most stores don't know how many replies a typical chat takes until they run the bot for a few weeks. Product discovery chats ("does it fit?", "other colors?") tend to be chatty. Order tracking chats are often one or two replies.
Two more counters to watch:
- Products learned. Each plan caps how many products the AI learns: 1,000 on Starter, 2,500 on Pro, 5,000 on Growth. If your catalog is bigger than your plan's cap, the bot won't know every product. A 3,000-SKU apparel store needs Growth at minimum, whatever its chat volume.
- Training usage. On VanChat's AppSumo Q&A, a buyer asked in May 2026 whether AI training eats into the monthly reply count and suggested separating the two. VanChat's founder replied that he'd take the request to the product manager. If you plan to test the bot heavily during setup, ask support how those test messages are counted.
One merchant put the surprise factor plainly, while still rating VanChat five stars:
"You need to train it for questions that are not mentioned anywhere on the website. After a certain period of time, it became a full 24/7 assistant. Lucas has been very helpful and patient walking me through issues whenever I have trouble using this app. There were some unexpected charges, but he addressed our concerns reasonably."
The $0.09 overage, and when to upgrade instead
Every paid plan charges $0.09 per extra AI reply. Here's the thing worth knowing: that rate is higher than what you pay per included reply on any plan. Starter works out to 7.8 cents per included reply, and Business gets down to 4 cents.

So overage only makes sense for occasional spikes. If you go over every month, the next plan pays for itself fast. Here are the break-even points I worked out from the published prices:
| If you use this many AI replies a month | Cheapest plan on list price | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Up to about 1,720 | Starter + overage | Starter ($39) plus $0.09 per reply beats Pro's $149 until here |
| About 1,720 to 3,610 | Pro + overage | Pro plus overage stays under Growth's $249 |
| About 3,610 to 7,780 | Growth + overage | Growth plus overage stays under Scale's $499 |
| About 7,780 to 15,330 | Scale + overage | Scale plus overage stays under Business's $799 |
| Above 15,330 | Business or Enterprise | Business includes 20,000 replies |
The product cap overrides this table. If your catalog needs Growth, you're on Growth.
What happens when replies run out also depends on how you bought. In a February 2025 answer on AppSumo, VanChat said lifetime-deal plans stop replying until the next cycle once the limit is hit, with emails at 50%, 70%, 90% and 100% usage, while monthly subscriptions switch to the add-on rate. Most Shopify merchants will be on the subscription, so the bot keeps working and the $0.09 meter runs.
What will VanChat cost your store?
Pricing tables are easier to read with your own numbers in them. Type in your monthly chats, how many AI replies a typical chat takes, and your catalog size. The calculator prices every VanChat plan at list price, skips plans whose product cap is too small, and shows eesel's per-chat price next to it for reference.
Type your own chat volume, replies per chat and catalog size to see which VanChat plan is cheapest, with eesel's per-chat price for comparison.
To give you a feel without the calculator, here's what three typical stores would pay at list price, assuming 3 AI replies per chat (a guess you should replace with your own number after a week of data):
| Store | Chats/month | AI replies | Products | Cheapest VanChat plan | Monthly cost |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Small store | 300 | 900 | 500 | Starter + 400 extra replies | $75 |
| Growing store | 1,000 | 3,000 | 800 | Pro + 500 extra replies | $194 |
| Big catalog, low chat | 300 | 900 | 3,000 | Growth (product cap) | $249 |
| Busy store | 3,000 | 9,000 | 4,000 | Scale | $499 |
The third row is the one I'd point out to anyone with a large catalog. Catalog size can cost you more than chat volume does, and it's easy to miss when you only look at the reply column.
When I size an AI bill for a store, I start from tickets per order rather than traffic. On a sales call with eesel, one DTC supplements brand on Gorgias and Shopify said it runs about 7,000 tickets a month on roughly 30,000 orders, a 25 to 30% ticket-to-order ratio. Your ratio will differ, but it's a much better input for this calculator than pageviews.
What does the first year really cost?
The promo makes the first few months look cheaper than the steady-state bill, which is fine as long as you budget for month four. Here's Growth, the plan VanChat marks "Most popular", paid four different ways in year one:

The same math across the main plans:
| Plan | Monthly, list | Monthly with 3-month promo | Annual (listing) | Annual with peak-season promo |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $468 | $432.90 | $390 | $327.60 |
| Pro | $1,788 | $1,653.90 | $1,490 | $1,251.60 |
| Growth | $2,988 | $2,763.90 | $2,490 | $2,091.60 |
| Scale | $5,988 | $5,538.90 | Not listed | $4,191.60 |
These are subscription costs only, before any $0.09 overage. If you're confident about VanChat and your volume, annual billing is the cheaper path either way. If you're not sure yet, the 7-day trial plus monthly billing keeps you flexible, and the promo still takes the edge off the first three months.
VanChat has also sold lifetime licenses through AppSumo, with a fixed monthly reply allowance and no overage. One merchant who bought one was happy with the trade:
"I took a risk and paid a lump sum for the lifetime option. It has more than paid for itself. 90% of our inquiries are things vanchat can handle."
Is VanChat worth the price?
On value per conversation, yes, for most small and mid-size Shopify stores. VanChat holds a 4.9 rating from 120 reviews on the Shopify App Store, and the reviews that mention workload are specific:
"VanChat handles nearly 98% of our pre-sales inquiries, including order tracking and product questions. It's smart, accurate, and even sends summary emails to help improve future responses."
VanChat's own pricing page leans on ROI figures, like a "15,687.1%" first-month ROI for Patiowell. I'd read those carefully. VanChat's FAQ explains it credits a sale to the bot when a visitor buys after interacting with it, and openly notes that "some customers may have intended to buy anyway." That's a fair disclosure, and a reason to measure your own lift and resolution rate rather than borrow theirs. My chatbot ROI guide covers how to set that up.
Here's who I think gets the most out of VanChat pricing:
- Small stores with mostly pre-sales questions. Starter at $39 with some overage covers a few hundred chats, and proactive selling is on every plan.
- Stores that want the bot to sell, not only answer. Upselling and product recommendations are core features rather than add-ons.
- Teams with a modest catalog. Under 1,000 products, the product cap won't push you up a tier.
- Stores selling in several languages. VanChat's FAQ lists 40+ supported languages, and multilingual support isn't gated by plan. Selling into separate Shopify Markets is a different feature, and that one starts on Growth.
And who might want to look further:
- Large catalogs with light chat. You'll pay for Growth or Scale to cover products, not conversations.
- Gorgias or Klaviyo shops on a tight budget. Those integrations need Growth, so $249 is your real floor.
- Teams whose volume is support email, not storefront chat. VanChat is built around the chat widget, plus Instagram and Facebook from Pro. If most of your work sits in a helpdesk queue, you're buying the wrong meter.
If you're still comparing chat apps, my Shopify chatbot roundup and Shopify live chat apps list cover the field.

How VanChat compares on price with other Shopify AI apps
Every Shopify AI app picks a different billing unit, which is why sticker prices alone mislead. Here's how the units compare across tools I've priced recently:
| Tool | What you pay for | Where to read more |
|---|---|---|
| VanChat | AI replies, plus a products-learned cap per plan | This post |
| Zipchat | AI replies | Zipchat pricing |
| Tidio | Billable conversations, plus Lyro AI as an add-on | Tidio AI pricing |
| Gorgias | Helpdesk tickets plus per-resolution AI fees | Gorgias AI pricing |
| BestChat | Chats per month by plan | BestChat pricing |
| Flyweight | A quoted AI Unlimited plan | Flyweight pricing |
| MooseDesk | Helpdesk plans with unlimited AI replies | MooseDesk pricing |
| Willdesk | Helpdesk plans, AI billed per conversation past the quota | Willdesk pricing |
| eesel | 1 credit per ticket or chat | eesel pricing |
A per-reply model like VanChat's is cheapest when chats are short. A per-conversation or per-ticket model gets relatively cheaper as conversations get longer, because the fifth reply costs the same as the first. If your shoppers tend to ask one question and leave, VanChat's meter works in your favor. For the wider picture on ecommerce chatbots, including what they handle well and where they hand off, I keep a separate guide.
When eesel is the better fit
I'll be straight about the comparison: if all you need is a sales chat widget on a Shopify storefront, VanChat costs less per conversation than eesel at every volume in the table above. That's not the job eesel is priced for.
eesel is an AI helpdesk teammate. It joins the queue you already run, in Gorgias, Zendesk, email or website chat, looks up the Shopify order before it answers, and hands refunds or complaints to a person with a note attached. Pricing is a fixed monthly size: 500 credits for $299, 1,000 for $499, up to 5,000 for $1,749, and a ticket or chat is 1 credit however many replies go back and forth. There's a free start with 100 credits, no card needed, and you can find the full list on eesel's pricing page.
Question Beauty is the closest match to a VanChat buyer. It's a direct-to-consumer cosmetics brand on Shopify and Gorgias, and most of its volume is short Messenger, email and chat messages like "price?" in many languages. Between August 8 and September 8, 2026, eesel handled about 990 Gorgias tickets, sent about 960 replies, looked up about 290 Shopify orders and closed about 280 tickets without a person. On today's price list, that volume sits in the 1,000-credit size.
STIL Classics, a planner and stationery brand, uses eesel differently: it prepares about 320 Gorgias tickets a month, checks the Shopify order first, and leaves a draft reply as an internal note for a person to send. Same tool, a human-in-the-loop setup.
Want an AI that answers your Shopify support queue, not only the chat bubble? eesel connects to Shopify and your helpdesk in a few minutes, learns from your past tickets, and you can test it on real conversations before paying anything. Try eesel with 100 free credits.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does VanChat cost per month?
VanChat pricing starts at $39/month for Starter (500 AI replies), then $149 for Pro, $249 for Growth, $499 for Scale and $799 for Business, with Enterprise on a quote. The Shopify App Store listing also shows a Free plan with 100 AI replies. Every paid plan charges $0.09 per extra AI reply. My chatbot cost guide puts those numbers in context.
Is VanChat free on Shopify?
Yes, there is a Free plan on the Shopify App Store listing: 100 AI replies a month and 100 products learned, with order tracking, agent handover and analytics. It isn't shown on vanchat.io/pricing, so install from Shopify if you want it. For other free options, see my Shopify chatbot roundup.
What counts as an AI reply in VanChat pricing?
VanChat meters AI replies, the answers the bot sends, not conversations. A shopper who asks four questions in one chat uses four replies. Replies your team types are unlimited from Starter up, and visitors are unlimited on every plan. That's a different billing unit from tools that charge per chat or per resolution.
What happens if I go over my VanChat reply limit?
On monthly subscriptions, extra AI replies cost $0.09 each. The overage rate is higher than the included rate on every plan, so if you go over regularly, the next plan up is usually cheaper. Use the calculator in this post, or compare with Zipchat pricing, which also bills per AI reply.
Does VanChat have annual pricing or discounts?
The Shopify listing shows annual plans at $390, $1,490 and $2,490 a year for Starter, Pro and Growth, about 17% off. Until October 31, 2026, vanchat.io runs a peak-season offer: 30% off the first 3 months on monthly billing, or 30% off the first year on annual. Plan your chatbot ROI on the full price, not the promo.
Which VanChat plan do I need for Gorgias or Klaviyo?
Growth ($249/month) or higher. The vanchat.io comparison table puts the Gorgias and Klaviyo integrations, multi-market support and removing VanChat branding on Growth and up, while Instagram and Facebook start on Pro. If you run Gorgias, budget for Growth even if your reply count is low.
Is there a cheaper alternative to VanChat pricing?
For a sales chat on a small store, VanChat is already one of the cheaper options per conversation. If your bigger cost is support tickets across email, social and your helpdesk, eesel for Shopify charges 1 credit per ticket or chat however many replies it takes, from $299/month for 500, with 100 free credits to test. My ecommerce helpdesk guide compares more options.
