How much does StoreFAQ cost?

StoreFAQ is a Shopify app by Storeware, launched on the App Store on January 3, 2024, with a 5.0 rating from 158 reviews and a Built for Shopify badge. It builds FAQ pages and product FAQs, adds FAQ schema, and now ships an AI chatbot, Instant Answer and live chat in the same app. Billing runs through Shopify in US dollars, and the listing says "recurring and usage-based charges are billed every 30 days."

What every plan includes, per the StoreFAQ site: unlimited FAQs and FAQ groups, the AI chatbot, writing FAQs with AI, the Shopify Sidekick integration, live chat, message shortcuts, design options, Instant Answer, custom CSS, import and export, and embedding FAQs on any page. The one feature locked off the free plan is multilingual FAQs; the multilingual docs call it "a PRO feature."

Two small things the plan cards do not agree on. The App Store listing shows a yearly price only for Enterprise, while the upgrade guide says you can pick Professional, Growth or Enterprise "on a monthly or yearly basis." And the page view overage cap, which matters a lot, appears only on storefaq.io, not on the listing. I priced everything below from the two pages as published.

If you are new to the category, my guide to FAQ software and these ecommerce FAQ examples show what a good FAQ page carries before you pick a plan.

What are the three limits that decide your plan?

Since every paid plan unlocks the same features, the plan you need is set by whichever of three limits you hit first.

1. FAQ page views. This is traffic to the pages that show your FAQs. If you add a product FAQ block to every product page, as most stores do, your FAQ page views track something close to your product page traffic, not just visits to a standalone FAQ page. That is why 100 views on Free goes fast.

2. AI conversations. Each conversation with the AI chatbot counts against your allowance. Free gets 25 for the life of the install, not per month. Paid plans get 50, 100 or 500 a month.

3. Products the AI can learn. The "Train on AI" row caps how many products the chatbot learns from: 50, 150, 300 or 2,000. The chatbot setup guide says it answers from "product details, FAQs, store information, blogs & more," so a product it has not learned is a product it cannot answer about.

The third limit is the one I see buyers miss. It has no overage fee, so it never shows up on a bill. It just decides your plan. Cape Coffee Beans, an eesel customer on Shopify, has more than a thousand products that change all the time. A store like that is past Growth's 300 on day one and needs Enterprise for the chatbot to know the full catalog.

How do StoreFAQ overage charges work?

Here is the part the plan cards understate. The two meters with overage behave very differently.

Hand-drawn illustration of two meters titled two meters on one StoreFAQ bill, a lidded jar for FAQ page views with overage capped at your plan price, and an open jar for AI conversations at $0.30 each after the allowance with an arrow rising out of it

Page view overage has a lid. On Professional, extra views cost $0.0159 each, and the site says that is charged "up to a max of $7.99/m." On Growth, it is $0.0075 each "up to a max of $14.99/m." So page views can at most double your plan price: Professional tops out at $15.98 a month and Growth at $29.98 from page views. Enterprise has unlimited views and no charge.

AI conversation overage does not. Every paid plan charges $0.30 per conversation past the allowance, and neither the listing nor the site lists a maximum. Shopify's usage billing docs require a capped amount, "the maximum amount of usage to bill for within the 30-day billing cycle," so there is a ceiling, but StoreFAQ does not publish it. I would check the number on the approval screen before you click Approve. To watch usage during the month, the Sidekick integration lets you ask Shopify Sidekick for your FAQ page view usage in plain language.

The overage rate is also the expensive way to buy conversations. Divide each plan's price by its included conversations and you get the bundled rate:

Hand-drawn bar chart titled what one AI conversation costs on StoreFAQ, with Professional at $0.16, Growth at $0.15, Enterprise at $0.10 and a dark overage bar at $0.30, noted as plan price divided by included chats

That chart treats the whole plan price as the cost of the chats, which flatters overage a little, since the plan also buys page views. Even so, an overage conversation costs two to three times a bundled one. That gives two break-even points worth remembering:

  • Professional to Growth at about 74 conversations a month. Growth costs $7 more. At $0.30 each, 24 extra conversations past Professional's 50 cost $7.20, so from about 74 chats a month, Growth is cheaper, before you count its extra 1,500 page views.
  • Growth to Enterprise at about 217 conversations a month. Enterprise costs $35 more. That buys about 117 overage conversations past Growth's 100. If your page views are also past Growth's cap, the break-even drops to about 167 chats.

If you are pricing chatbots more broadly, my chatbot cost guide walks through per-conversation billing in other tools.

What does StoreFAQ cost at realistic store sizes?

Plug your own numbers into the calculator below. The presets are four store shapes I priced from the published rates.

Here is what the presets come out to:

StoreFAQ page viewsAI chats a monthProducts for the AICheapest planMonthly bill
New store3001540Professional$7.99
Growing store1,50080120Growth$14.99
Busy store6,000300280Enterprise$49.99
Large catalog20,0009001,200Enterprise$169.99

The growing store is the instructive one. On Professional it would pay $7.99, plus the capped $7.99 in page view overage, plus $9 for 30 extra chats: $24.98. Growth covers the same month for $14.99. The large-catalog store is the other lesson: Enterprise's $49.99 is only the floor once chats run past 500, and 400 extra conversations add $120.

None of these bills is large next to what a support person costs. For context on how small this line is in the overall stack, my Shopify pricing breakdown and Shopify AI pricing guide cover the platform side.

What happened to the free plan?

StoreFAQ's free plan is real and still useful: unlimited FAQs, FAQ schema, the chatbot, live chat and design options, with 100 FAQ page views a month and 25 lifetime AI conversations. For a brand-new store testing what customers ask, that is plenty.

It used to be bigger, and some merchants noticed the change. Two of the app's three low-star reviews are about it. A US store wrote in September 2025:

"Rug pull. The app was listed as free, and once everything is set up, they limit the usage on the free plan to 100 views/month. Will have to transfer everything to a different solution."

That is from Comfort Pure, 12 days into using the app, on the low-rated reviews page. A Polish store, LAIF, posted the same complaint a day later. To be fair to Storeware, those three reviews sit against 155 five-star ones, and the newer reviews mostly praise the support team by name. But the lesson for pricing is clear: 100 views a month is a trial allowance for a store with product page FAQs, so plan on Professional from the start if your FAQs live on product pages.

The happier reviews describe the job the app is good at. Poodle Supply, a store in Czechia using it for over a year, wrote in July 2026:

"I honestly can't imagine running my small business without StoreFAQ anymore. It helps me every single day by answering repetitive customer questions, saving me hours of work and allowing me to focus on growing my brand."

That review is on the StoreFAQ listing. It is also the best argument for the paid plans: if FAQs are saving you hours, $7.99 or $14.99 a month is not the number to worry about.

Is StoreFAQ worth it?

For what it is built to do, yes. An SEO-friendly FAQ page, FAQ blocks on product pages and FAQ schema for search results are worth more than $7.99 a month to almost any store, and StoreFAQ does them well. From the SEO side, FAQ content is one of the cheapest ways to answer the long-tail questions buyers search for, which is why I wrote about SEO-optimized FAQs separately.

The AI chatbot is where I would be more careful about what you are buying. Per the setup guide, it learns from the sources you pick: products, store policies, FAQs, pages and blog posts, synced into its knowledge base. That covers pre-sale questions well; my notes on pre-purchase questions show how much of a store's chat volume they are. What the guide does not describe is looking up a specific customer's order, or handing a conversation from the AI to a person with the history attached. Live chat is a separate setting where your team replies from the live chat inbox.

So the fit looks like this:

You arePlan I would pickWhy

A store with FAQs on product pagesProfessional500 views, multilingual, 50 AI chats

What are the cheaper or different options?

On cash, StoreFAQ is already near the bottom of the market for what it does, so "cheaper" mostly means picking the right tool for the job.

  • For FAQs only, stay on StoreFAQ Free or Professional. If you do not need the chatbot, the cheapest plans cover the FAQ page, schema and product FAQs.
  • For a free inbox, start with Shopify's own. Shopify Inbox is Shopify's own free chat app, and Shopify Sidekick can now read your StoreFAQ data too.
  • For a full live chat or helpdesk, compare per-seat and per-chat pricing. My Willdesk pricing breakdown shows how differently the same job is billed.
  • For an AI chatbot priced per reply, Zipchat pricing is the closest Shopify comparison to StoreFAQ's $0.30 overage.

If chat is becoming a real support channel, my guide to live chat for ecommerce covers what a team needs on top of a bot.

StoreFAQ vs eesel on cost

eesel is an AI teammate platform, and for a Shopify store the relevant teammate is the AI helpdesk teammate. It does a different job from StoreFAQ, and on cash it costs far more, so the comparison only makes sense once you know which job you are paying for.

The eesel figures are from its pricing page today: free with 100 credits, then $299 a month for 500 credits up to $1,749 for 5,000, with two months free on a yearly plan. At 500 chats a month that is $299 against $49.99 for StoreFAQ Enterprise. If your chats are about shipping zones, sizing and returns policy, that gap is the answer, and StoreFAQ is the right buy.

The gap closes when the questions are about a specific order. STIL Classics, a planner and stationery brand on Shopify and Gorgias, shows what that work looks like: between August 8 and September 8, 2026, eesel prepared about 320 Gorgias tickets and looked up about 230 Shopify orders before drafting a single line, leaving about 430 draft replies for a person to check and send.

The STIL Classics customer story on eesel.ai, headlined every Gorgias ticket arrives with the order already checked and a reply already written, showing 320 Gorgias tickets prepared in a month, 430 draft replies, 230 Shopify orders looked up and 2,000 pages, products and tickets it answers from, as taken from eesel

For website chat, Nordbutiker, a light electric vehicle retailer, runs one bot per brand across four Nordic countries, each trained on its own store's pages and solved Zendesk tickets, on the chat bubble and in Zendesk. And there is no product cap to plan around: Cape Coffee Beans' agent takes product lookups from the live Shopify catalogue of more than a thousand products.

You can also run both, and for most stores I would. Keep StoreFAQ for the FAQ page, product FAQs and schema, which are search assets eesel does not build. Put eesel on the order questions in your helpdesk, whether that is Gorgias or Zendesk. My guide to WISMO automation covers the order-status half of that split.

Try eesel for your Shopify store's order questions

If you are pricing StoreFAQ because your inbox is full of the same questions, check which questions they are. If most are "where is my order?", "can I change my address?" or "is this back in stock?", eesel connects to your Shopify store in under 30 minutes, reads your catalog, orders and FAQs, and answers or drafts in your helpdesk with the order already checked. Each ticket or chat is one credit however long it runs, and you can test it on your real tickets with 100 free credits before it replies to a customer. Try eesel and keep StoreFAQ for the FAQ page it does well.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does StoreFAQ cost?

StoreFAQ has a free plan, then Professional at $7.99 a month, Growth at $14.99 and Enterprise at $49.99, or $479.90 a year for Enterprise, per the StoreFAQ pricing table. Every plan has unlimited FAQs; the plans differ in FAQ page views, AI conversations and how many products the AI can learn. My Shopify chatbots roundup compares it with other apps.

Is StoreFAQ free?

Yes, there is a free plan with unlimited FAQs, FAQ schema, the AI chatbot and live chat. It is limited to 100 FAQ page views a month and 25 AI conversations for the life of the install, and multilingual FAQs need a paid plan. Stores with FAQ blocks on product pages usually outgrow 100 views quickly.

What does StoreFAQ charge for extra AI conversations?

Every paid plan charges $0.30 for each AI chatbot conversation past its monthly allowance of 50, 100 or 500. No maximum is listed, so check the capped amount Shopify shows when you approve the plan. Past about 74 chats a month Growth is cheaper than Professional, and past about 217 Enterprise is cheaper than Growth. My chatbot ROI guide shows how to weigh that against time saved.

What happens if I go over my StoreFAQ page view limit?

On Professional, extra FAQ page views cost $0.0159 each up to a maximum of $7.99 a month, and on Growth $0.0075 each up to $14.99, per StoreFAQ's pricing table. Enterprise has unlimited views. The free plan lists additional views as not applicable, so 100 a month is its ceiling.

Which StoreFAQ plan do I need for a large catalog?

The AI chatbot can learn up to 50 products on Free, 150 on Professional, 300 on Growth and 2,000 on Enterprise. A store with more than 300 products that wants the chatbot to know all of them needs Enterprise, whatever its traffic. For catalogs above 2,000, an ecommerce helpdesk with an AI agent that searches the live catalog is the safer route.

Does StoreFAQ have a yearly plan?

The public price cards show a yearly price only for Enterprise: $479.90, which saves 20% against $49.99 a month. StoreFAQ's upgrade guide says plans can be chosen monthly or yearly, so check the Subscriptions tab inside the app for Professional and Growth yearly prices.

Can StoreFAQ's AI chatbot answer order status questions?

StoreFAQ's chatbot setup guide lists products, store policies, FAQs, pages and blog posts as its knowledge sources; it does not describe looking up a customer's order. For order status, an agent connected to Shopify orders fits better, and my guide to automating ecommerce support covers the setup.

What is a cheaper alternative to StoreFAQ?

For FAQ pages alone, StoreFAQ's free and $7.99 plans are already near the bottom of the market. If you need a full chat or helpdesk tool, compare Chatra pricing and SmartBot pricing, or put eesel on Shopify for order questions and keep StoreFAQ for the FAQ page.
