I've spent two years watching what people actually type into Google, and "Landbot pricing" is rarely a question about the $36 sticker. People searching it have usually already seen that number. What they want to know is what the invoice says in month three, once real traffic hits the bot. That's the question this post answers.

Landbot is a no-code chatbot builder for website and WhatsApp bots, with an AI Agent block added in its Landbot 4 release. I checked every number below against the live Landbot pricing page on 2 October 2026. Here is the full grid in USD:

Every paid plan comes with a 14-day trial and no card. When the trial ends you drop back to Free rather than getting charged, which is a kind default. Landbot bills in euros if you're in the EU and dollars elsewhere; the euro prices on the same page are €32 for Starter and €80 for Professional on annual billing.

Annual billing saves 20% off the monthly price (or, seen from the other side, monthly costs 25% more) and locks you in for 12 months. Monthly plans can be cancelled anytime.

What does Landbot actually charge for?

This is the part of chatbot pricing that trips people up. A Landbot bill has three separate counters running, and each one has its own allowance and its own overage price.

Chats

A chat is a structured, rule-based session, the kind of button-led conversation covered in my AI chatbot vs live chat explainer, that a visitor starts by clicking a button, typing a keyword or hitting a trigger. Landbot tracks it over a 24-hour window across all channels. Go past your plan's allowance and each extra chat is $0.05, but you buy them in packs of 500 for $25. So 501 chats over the limit costs two packs, $50, not $25.05.

There's also a ceiling. Landbot's fair use policy caps monthly chats at 5,000 on Starter, 10,000 on Professional and 50,000 on Business, plus 3,000 chats per 60 minutes per account. You get an email at 80%. If you're forecasting past 5,000 chats a month, Starter isn't really an option no matter how cheap the packs look.

AI chats

The payment FAQ defines an AI chat as any conversation that uses the AI Agent or AI Task block to generate a response "at some point in the flow." It's billed separately from regular chats. Included allowances are 100 on Starter, 300 on Professional and 500 on Professional WA, then $0.10 for every AI chat after that.

Two details from the help center are worth knowing before you build:

  • An AI Task block and an AI Agent in the same flow count as one AI chat, per the AI Task doc, so you're not double-charged for chaining them.
  • The AI Task block can run on Landbot's default model or on your own API key. The docs imply only the default option draws from your AI chat allowance, so if you already pay for an OpenAI key, ask Landbot to confirm before you plan around it.

Landbot has loosened this meter over time. Back in 2024, an HN commenter priced the old allowance like this:

Hacker News

"For $100 per month you can have 2,500 flow chats, or 30 "AI" chats. That's nearly a 100x difference in cost."

Today's Professional plan gives you 300 AI chats for $88, ten times that old allowance. That's a real improvement. The gap between the two meters is still there, though: an extra regular chat costs $0.05 and an extra AI chat costs $0.10, and the AI allowance is only 12% to 20% of the chat allowance on each plan.

WhatsApp messages

WhatsApp is a toggle on Professional that adds $88 a month, which is how you get the $176 Professional WA tier. It includes one number and 10,000 service messages a month. Past that, Landbot charges Meta's rate plus €0.003 per service message, and Meta's rate plus €0.05 for each marketing, utility or authentication template. An extra WhatsApp number is $100 a month.

Meta's own fees vary by country and message type, and they change. My guide to WhatsApp Business API pricing covers how Meta charges, which is the half of the bill Landbot passes straight through. If your WhatsApp plan is mostly outbound marketing, that €0.05 per template is the line to model first. If it's mostly support, my roundup of the best AI for WhatsApp support covers tools priced around replies instead of templates.

The costs that aren't on the sticker

Hand-drawn receipt for Landbot Professional at $88 listing extra seat at $25 a month each, extra AI chat at $0.10 each, 500 extra chats at $25, WhatsApp add-on at $88 a month, extra WhatsApp number at $100 a month, and monthly billing at plus 25 percent

Beyond the three meters, these are the lines that move a Landbot invoice:

CostPriceWhen it bites
Extra seat$25/mo eachAny human takeover setup past 2 agents (Starter) or 3 (Professional)

Seats deserve their own warning. Human takeover sends chats into Landbot's shared inbox, and every person answering there uses a seat.

Landbot inbox with assigned and unassigned chat views, status filters and a conversation panel, as taken from the Landbot help center

That's fine for a two-person sales team. For agencies and bigger support teams, it's the complaint that comes up most in reviews:

Capterra

"The sore spot with Landbot in my opinion is the price, especially if we work in teams and the chatbot has multiple operators, for which we pay additional fees."

Capterra

"Cost per seat can grow unreasonably; I would like to see a business account available so that this restriction is removed."

A 10-agent team on Professional pays $175 a month in extra seats before a single chat is counted. If you'll hand off to humans a lot, price seats first. Tools built around AI agent handoff into an existing helpdesk avoid this line entirely, because your agents already have seats there.

What real teams pay: three worked examples

Hand-drawn bar chart of monthly Landbot costs on annual billing: a small site bot with 300 chats and 80 AI chats pays $36, a lead-gen team with 2,000 chats and 300 AI chats pays $88, and a support desk with 4,000 chats, 2,500 AI chats and 5 seats pays $433, of which $88 is the plan and $345 is extras

All three use annual billing in USD.

A small site bot. A consultancy runs a lead-capture chatbot on its homepage: 300 chats a month, about 80 of them reaching an AI step, two people watching the inbox. Starter covers all of it. $36 a month. This is Landbot at its best value.

A lead-gen team. A real estate agency gets 2,000 chats a month, 300 of them AI-assisted, with three agents. On Starter that's $36 plus three chat packs ($75), 200 extra AI chats ($20) and one extra seat ($25), so $156. On Professional, everything fits inside the allowance. $88 a month, and you lose the Landbot branding too.

A support desk. An online store points its bot at support: 4,000 chats a month, 2,500 answered by AI, five agents on takeover. On Professional that's $88, plus three chat packs ($75), 2,200 extra AI chats ($220) and two extra seats ($50). $433 a month, with $345 of it coming from overage.

The third example is where most support-led buyers land, and it's why I'd model the AI chat meter before anything else. In eesel's own sales calls, I've seen a buyer burn through 200 AI interactions in a single day of testing and immediately start worrying about what 9,000 a month would cost. Test traffic is real traffic on a metered plan, so budget for it.

Starter or Professional? Where the switch happens

Hand-drawn line chart of monthly cost against chats per month: Starter climbs from $36 at 500 chats in $25 steps to $61, $86, $111 and $136 at 2,500 chats, while Professional stays flat at $88, with a switch here marker where Starter passes Professional just after 1,500 chats

Counting chats alone, Starter stays cheaper until about 1,500 chats a month. At 2,000 chats it's $111 against Professional's flat $88. Add a third seat ($25) or 200 extra AI chats ($20) and the crossover comes even sooner. My rule of thumb: if you expect more than 1,500 chats or more than two agents, start on Professional. It's also the first plan with webhooks, the API and the HubSpot and Salesforce integrations, which most growing teams need anyway. If HubSpot is your CRM, compare it with the native bot in my HubSpot chatbot pricing post.

Plug in your own numbers here. It recalculates every plan as you type:

Landbot pricing vs similar tools

Landbot's entry price is low for this category. The difference between tools is mostly what each one counts, so here's the unit side by side, from each vendor's pricing page on 2 October 2026:

ToolEntry paid planBillable unitIncluded at entryOverageSeats at entry
Landbot$36/mo annual ($45 monthly)Chats + AI chats + WhatsApp messages500 chats, 100 AI chats$0.05/chat in packs, $0.10/AI chat2
BotpressPlus, $150/mo annualConversations + AI usage250 conversations, $25 AI usage$65 per 100 conversations3

respond.ioStarter, $79/mo yearly ($99 monthly)Monthly active contacts + AI creditsContact tier based$15 per 1,000 extra AI creditsVaries
eesel$299/moCredits (1 ticket or chat handled)500 creditsOptional $0.80/credit, cappedUnlimited

A few honest takeaways. For a button-led website or WhatsApp funnel, Landbot is one of the cheapest ways in. Chatbase bills per message rather than per conversation, so a chatty five-message exchange costs five credits there and one AI chat on Landbot. ManyChat is cheaper still for Instagram and Messenger, but it's a different job. For the closest like-for-like, my Tidio pricing and Voiceflow pricing posts use the same per-conversation lens.

If you're shopping the knowledge-base chatbot end of the market instead, Dante AI pricing and SiteSpeak pricing are the closer matches.

Live chat suites price differently again, per seat first, as my Crisp pricing and LiveChat pricing breakdowns show.

And to be straight about eesel: on raw dollars for 2,500 AI-handled chats, eesel's 2,500-credit plan is $999 a month and Landbot's support-desk example above is $433. If all you need is a website bot with a shared inbox, Landbot is the cheaper answer. eesel's price makes sense when the AI has to work inside your helpdesk, which is the next section.

Is Landbot worth the price?

For what it's built for, yes. Reviewers rate the visual builder highly (4.7 out of 5 from 334 reviews on G2), Copilot drafts a first flow from a prompt, and the hybrid design lets the AI answer while scripted steps collect clean data. If you're building lead capture, quizzes, bookings or WhatsApp menus, $36 to $176 a month is fair money for a polished tool, and it holds up well against the field in my AI chatbot builder roundup.

It gets harder to justify in two situations:

  • AI-first support at volume. The AI allowance is 12% to 20% of the chat allowance, so a bot that answers most conversations with AI buys overage every month. That's not a hidden trick, it's on the pricing page, but it means the AI chatbot bill scales with your success.
  • Teams that already run a helpdesk. Landbot's handoff goes to its own inbox. There's no native Zendesk, Freshdesk or Gorgias app, and the Zendesk route in the help center is a webhook you build yourself on Professional or above. Every human in that inbox is a $25 seat, on top of whatever you already pay for Zendesk or Freshdesk. My Landbot review goes deeper on the handoff mechanics.
Capterra

"The WhatsApp bot is difficult to set up and it's quite a bit costly."

On the plus side, Landbot says it keeps your plan's conditions fixed while you stay subscribed and gives at least two months' notice before changing them. That matters more than it sounds. In eesel's sales calls, I've heard from a budget-conscious buyer whose previous vendor's price more than doubled, and price stability was the first thing they asked about. Landbot's notice period is worth getting in writing on an annual contract.

Reddit

"I use landbot.io. I chose it over others because of how we could ask more complex questions and how easy it was to connect to ChatGPT via api key."

How to keep your Landbot bill down

  1. Pay annually once traffic is steady. It saves 20% on the base plan. Start monthly while you test, since the annual plan is a 12-month commitment.
  2. Use buttons before AI. Every conversation that gets answered by a menu or a scripted branch costs a $0.05 chat instead of a $0.10 AI chat, and it stays inside a bigger allowance. Save the AI Agent for the open questions.
  3. Look at the bring-your-own-key option. If you already pay for a model provider, the AI Task block can use your key. Confirm with Landbot how it's counted before you rely on it.
  4. Watch the 80% email. Landbot emails you at 80% of your fair-use cap. Treat it as the trigger to compare plans, not to buy another pack.
  5. Check your chatbot analytics monthly. Flows where visitors drop off still burn chats. Trim them.

eesel Activity view filtered to a Zendesk integration, listing web chat conversations with resolved and pending status and linked Zendesk ticket numbers
eesel Activity view filtered to a Zendesk integration, listing web chat conversations with resolved and pending status and linked Zendesk ticket numbers

If your Landbot quote is climbing because the bot is really doing support work, eesel prices that job differently. Its AI helpdesk teammate plugs into Zendesk, Freshdesk, Gorgias and other helpdesks, learns from your past tickets and help center, and hands off by creating a real ticket instead of filling a separate inbox. Seats are unlimited, so adding agents never changes the bill, and a credit is one ticket or chat handled, whatever happens in it.

Before it goes live, eesel runs a simulation on hundreds of your past tickets so you see the answers and the resolution rate first. Landbot doesn't offer that step, and skipping it is behind most AI chatbot problems I see. It's why I'd point a support team there instead of a flow builder. Plans start at $299 a month for 500 credits, with a free plan of 100 credits to try it. Try eesel on a slice of your queue and compare the numbers with your Landbot estimate.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Landbot cost per month?
Landbot pricing on annual billing is $0 for Free, $36 a month for Starter, $88 for Professional and $176 for Professional with WhatsApp. Monthly billing costs more: $45 for Starter and $110 for Professional. Business is custom. See the Landbot overview for what each plan includes.
Is Landbot free?
Yes, there is a free-forever plan with 100 chats a month, one seat and web only, but it includes no AI chats. If you want AI answers on a budget, compare it with the free tiers in my Chatbase pricing and Botpress pricing breakdowns.
What is an AI chat in Landbot pricing?
An AI chat is any conversation where Landbot's AI Agent or AI Task block generates a response at some point. It is billed separately from regular chats, with 100 to 500 included per plan and $0.10 for each one after that. It is the meter that decides most AI website chatbot bills.
How much does Landbot's WhatsApp plan cost?
Professional with WhatsApp is $176 a month on annual billing, with one number, 500 AI chats and 10,000 service messages. Extra numbers are $100 a month, and marketing, utility or authentication templates cost Meta's rate plus €0.05 each. My WhatsApp chatbot roundup compares other options.
Is Landbot pricing cheaper than Botpress or Chatbase?
At the entry level, yes: Landbot Starter is $36 a month, while Botpress Plus is $150 and Chatbase Hobby is $40. The gap narrows once most conversations use AI, because Landbot charges $0.10 for every AI chat past the allowance.
What does Landbot pricing look like for a support team?
A support desk with 4,000 chats, 2,500 AI chats and 5 agents lands around $433 a month on Professional, with only $88 of that being the plan. If the bot has to work inside a helpdesk like Zendesk, an AI support chatbot built for that job may fit better than a flow builder.
Can I cancel Landbot or get a refund?
Monthly plans are month-to-month and can be cancelled anytime, while annual plans are a 12-month commitment. Landbot's payment FAQ describes a 7-day money-back window that does not cover extra chat volume. After the 14-day trial you drop to the Free plan, no card needed.
