Why do Shopify stores look for Zipchat alternatives?

Credit where it is due first. Zipchat goes live fast, puts every channel (website chat, email, WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger) on every plan, replies in the shopper's language, and gives you unlimited team members. Its dashboard leads with revenue from chats, which is exactly what a store owner wants to see. I gave it 4 out of 5 in my Zipchat review.

The reasons people shop around are specific, and most of them trace back to how the product counts and hands off.

1. You pay per reply, not per conversation. Zipchat's pricing page lists Starter at $80 a month for 750 AI replies, Pro at $300 for 3,000 and Scale at $600 for 6,000, with 20% off for annual billing. Every outbound AI message is one reply, so a shopper who asks about shipping, sizing and returns uses three. Extra replies are $49 per 250. That is fair if your chats are short. It gets expensive if your products need a back-and-forth.

2. The human handoff can split the conversation. When the AI forwards a chat by email, it can land in your helpdesk as a new ticket. A G2 reviewer gave it 0.5 stars for exactly this:

G2

"No option to reply to customer inquiries that require a human, without creating an entirely new ticket."

3. It knows the catalog better than the customer. Zipchat learns from your site, files and corrections, not from your past support tickets. Even a happy reviewer flagged the gap:

G2

"I'm limited on feeding it customer data. The bot doesn't know if someone is part of a special program, if this is a first-time customer, or what language they speak."

4. Review scores split by site. It holds 4.9 on Shopify and 4.5 from 11 reviews on G2, but 2.3 on Trustpilot, where most complaints are about cold sales emails and slow vendor replies rather than the chatbot.

None of these is a dealbreaker on its own. They are the reasons to compare before you renew.

How I picked these alternatives

I build eesel's AI agents for a living, so I read every tool on this list the way I would read our own: what does the AI actually count, what can it do inside Shopify, and what happens when it has to hand off to a person. I read each vendor's pricing page and Shopify listing on 21 October 2026, plus the docs and recent merchant reviews.

Before writing, I asked ChatGPT the question a store owner would ask: "I run a Shopify store and use Zipchat as the AI chat agent on my site for pre-sale questions and support. I'm thinking about switching. What are good alternatives?" It named Rep AI, Gorgias, Tidio, Manifest AI, Richpanel and Wizybot, which is a sensible list and the core of mine. Its price table was less reliable: it listed Zipchat at $49 a month, an old price that still sits on Zipchat's G2 profile, while the live pricing page says $80 monthly. Its own advice was to compare "monthly spend at your normal number of conversations, rather than the advertised entry price". I agree, so this post does that.

I added Shopify Inbox as the free baseline and eesel for stores whose real pain is the ticket queue. One rule I held: every price below comes from the vendor's own page or Shopify listing, never from a review site.

Same chat, different meters

This is the single most useful thing to understand before you compare prices. The five paid tools on this list count completely different things.

Hand-drawn diagram of one shopper chat with three AI replies, fanning out to five cards showing what each tool counts for that same chat: Zipchat 3 replies, Wizybot 3 AI messages, Tidio Lyro 1 conversation, eesel 1 credit, and Rep AI 1 site visitor

  • Per AI reply or message: Zipchat and Wizybot. Long chats cost more.
  • Per conversation: Tidio's pricing page says that even if Lyro "replies a dozen times or more" to solve a problem, it "still counts as a single conversation". Richpanel and Gorgias also bill per AI conversation or automated interaction.
  • Per ticket or chat: eesel counts a ticket or chat as 1 credit, per its pricing page.
  • Per site visitor: Rep AI's listed plans are priced by monthly visitors, whether or not they chat.
  • No meter: Shopify Inbox is free.

A store with chatty customers (sizing, fit, "which one is better for me?") should lean toward a per-conversation tool. A store with huge traffic and few chats should be wary of a per-visitor one. My post on deflection vs resolution explains why these units are not interchangeable.

Sales-first or support-first?

ChatGPT's answer made one point worth keeping: "Rep AI and Manifest AI lean toward shopping assistance, while Richpanel is considerably more support-oriented." Zipchat sits closer to the selling end. So the first question is not "which tool is best" but which end of this line you want to move toward.

Hand-drawn horizontal arrow running from Sells before checkout on the left to Solves after the order on the right, with tools placed along it in order: Rep AI, Manifest AI, Zipchat circled as the focal point, Wizybot, Tidio, Shopify Inbox, Gorgias, Richpanel and eesel

The placement is my read of each product's own pages, not a score. If your chats are mostly "does this come in blue?" and "will it fit?", move left. If they are mostly "where is my order?" and "can I change the address?", move right. Most stores have both, which is why a common setup is a selling chat on the storefront plus an AI in the helpdesk for everything after checkout. My roundup of AI helpdesks for Shopify covers that second half.

What would 1,000 AI chats cost?

Entry prices tell you very little, because each tool counts a different thing. This calculator prices each tool at your volume, using only list prices from the vendors' own pages.

At the default numbers (1,000 AI chats, 2.4 replies each, 25,000 visitors), Zipchat lands on Pro at $300. Raise replies per chat to 4 and it has to jump to Scale at $600, while the per-conversation tools do not move. That one slider is the clearest answer to "is Zipchat expensive for my store?". My guide to chatbot cost goes through the same maths for other tools.

1. Rep AI

Best for: stores that want the chat to start the conversation and push hesitant shoppers to checkout.

The Rep AI listing image headlined Increase Sales, Engage disengaged shoppers before they leave, with a chat greeting a shopper browsing walking shoes, offering Best Sellers, Deals and Categories buttons, then a carousel of shoes with prices and add to cart links, as taken from the Rep AI listing

Rep AI is the most direct swap for Zipchat's selling side, and ChatGPT called it "Best for increasing sales". It watches for shoppers who are about to drop off and opens the chat itself, with product finders and recommendations. It holds 4.6 from 119 reviews on its Shopify listing, and lists Gorgias, Zendesk, Klaviyo, Attentive, Postscript and Tapcart as integrations.

What it does better than Zipchat

  • Proactive selling is the core product. The pricing page lists AI drop-off detection, proactive product approach, upsell and abandoned cart rescue on the Sales plan.
  • A separate support agent. The Support plan covers order status, returns and exchanges, cancelling and modifying orders, answering emails and editing subscriptions.
  • No reply meter. Listed plans are priced by visitors, so a long chat costs the same as a short one.

Where it falls short

  • Billing by visitors means you pay for traffic that never chats. A store with 50,000 visitors and 300 chats pays for all 50,000.
  • Sales and Support are separate plans. At 80,000 sessions, the pricing page shows Sales at $578, Support at $250 and the bundled Concierge at $726 a month.
  • Email, social and WhatsApp are an add-on from $68 a month, billed at $0.75 per AI-resolved conversation.

Pricing

Basic$209$2,006/year25,000Up to 2,000
Standard$368$3,528/year50,000Up to 5,000

Every plan has a 14-day free trial, and extra visitors are $12 per 1,000 on all of them. The website shows a session slider with separate Sales, Support and Concierge plans, so check which version your quote uses.

What merchants say

Shopify

"This is the best AI-rep we've used (and we've tried a few of them for our store)."

Shopify

"Good app but definitely not worth $550 per month for a basic LLM."

My take: Pick Rep AI if Zipchat's selling is what you love and you want more of it. Skip it if your traffic is high and your chat volume is low, because the visitor meter will cost more than Zipchat's reply meter. My list of AI chatbots for Shopify has more selling-first options.

2. Gorgias

Best for: stores that want one helpdesk for every channel, with AI that sells and solves inside it.

Gorgias AI Agent drafting skills for where is my order, start a return and change shipping address, next to a chat where the agent offers to handle order status, as taken from the Gorgias listing
Gorgias AI Agent drafting skills for where is my order, start a return and change shipping address, next to a chat where the agent offers to handle order status, as taken from the Gorgias listing

Gorgias is the default Shopify helpdesk, with 4.3 from 706 reviews on its Shopify listing. ChatGPT called it "Best overall for sales and support". The AI Agent answers and acts on support tickets, and the Shopping Assistant handles pre-sale questions and product recommendations on the storefront.

What it does better than Zipchat

  • A real helpdesk around the AI. Email, chat, SMS, voice and social land in one inbox, so the handoff stays in the same ticket.
  • Deep order actions. The AI Agent can cancel unfulfilled orders, edit addresses, remove or replace items and reship, per the Gorgias docs.
  • Seats are not the meter. The pricing page says the helpdesk is "never priced per agent".

Where it falls short

  • Two meters on AI work. An AI-resolved chat is a ticket and an automated interaction, so AI adds to the bill.
  • At 1,000 AI chats a month, the cheapest plan in my calculator is about $1,240, four times Zipchat Pro.
  • There is no free plan, only a 7-day trial.

Pricing

PlanHelpdesk (monthly)Tickets includedTicket overagePer automated interactionWith AI Agent (monthly)
Starter$1050$0.40 each$1.00$40 (30 interactions)
Basic$60300$40 per 100$0.90$90 (30 interactions)
Pro$3602,000$36 per 100$0.90$550 (190 interactions)
Advanced$9005,000$36 per 100$0.85$1,430 (530 interactions)

Annual billing lowers the bundles, for example Pro with AI Agent to $471 a month. Prices are from the Gorgias pricing page. My Gorgias pricing guide does the maths by plan, and Gorgias AI Agent pricing covers the AI side.

What merchants say

Shopify

"While the AI is not always fully accurate yet due to occasional hallucinations, we're hopeful ongoing improvements will help it provide accurate and helpful support the vast majority of the time."

My take: Pick Gorgias if support has outgrown a chat app and you want the tool most Shopify support hires already know. Skip it if you are leaving Zipchat to cut cost. My Gorgias review and Gorgias alternatives cover the trade-offs.

3. Tidio

Best for: small teams that want live chat, an AI agent and a light inbox in one app.

Tidio's Lyro AI agent comparing medium and large sizes of a jacket on a product page and recommending a size with add to cart and size guide buttons, as taken from the Tidio listing
Tidio's Lyro AI agent comparing medium and large sizes of a jacket on a product page and recommending a size with add to cart and size guide buttons, as taken from the Tidio listing

Tidio is the most-reviewed tool here, with 4.8 from 1,355 reviews on its Shopify listing. Its AI agent, Lyro, starts proactive chats on product pages, recommends products and adds them to the cart, per the listing. ChatGPT called it the "Best all-around SMB option".

What it does better than Zipchat

  • Per-conversation billing. A Lyro conversation counts once however many replies it takes, which beats a reply meter for chatty stores.
  • A free plan with a real inbox. Live chat, ticketing, a mobile app and social channels are free for 50 human conversations a month.
  • Native Shopify actions and product recommendations on any paid Lyro quota, per the listing.

Where it falls short

  • Lyro is a prepaid quota. Unused conversations do not carry over, and above 1,000 a month it moves to a custom plan.
  • At 1,000 AI conversations, Lyro alone is $700 a month, more than Zipchat Pro.
  • The inbox is built around chat rather than ticket queues, so a heavy email load fits a helpdesk better.

Pricing

100$75
200$140
300$210
500$350
750$525

The helpdesk is a separate product: Customer Service is $29 a month for 100 conversations, or $59 for 250 to 1,000, per the Shopify listing. Conversations Lyro handles alone do not count as billable helpdesk conversations. Full detail is in my Tidio AI pricing post.

What merchants say

Shopify

"There is still room for improvement, particularly in making AI responses more flexible and improving customization options for automation."

My take: Pick Tidio if your volume is under a few hundred AI chats a month and you want chat, AI and inbox from one vendor. Skip it at high volume, where the Lyro quota gets pricey. My Tidio review and Tidio alternatives go deeper.

4. Wizybot

Best for: stores that sell over WhatsApp, Instagram and TikTok as much as on the website.

The Wizybot inbox with folders for My Inbox, Need Help and AI Managed, a list of WhatsApp and Instagram chats, and an Instagram conversation where Wizybot sends a shopper the store's catalog link, as taken from the Wizybot listing
The Wizybot inbox with folders for My Inbox, Need Help and AI Managed, a list of WhatsApp and Instagram chats, and an Instagram conversation where Wizybot sends a shopper the store's catalog link, as taken from the Wizybot listing

Wizybot is an AI chat and CRM for ecommerce with 4.7 from 167 reviews on its Shopify listing. Most of its recent reviews come from stores in Colombia, Mexico and Chile, and the listing is in English, Spanish and Portuguese. The homepage says it answers in more than 95 languages.

What it does better than Zipchat

  • More AI for the money. The Basic plan includes 2,750 AI messages for $149.99, against Zipchat Pro's 3,000 replies for $300.
  • Social selling built in. Unlimited WhatsApp campaigns and automations, plus AI replies to social media comments (5,000 included).
  • Unlimited human chats and users. The pricing page says "The only thing we charge you for is the AI messages you use."

Where it falls short

  • It counts AI messages, the same unit as Zipchat's replies, so long chats still cost more.
  • Order actions are lighter than a helpdesk's: cart recovery, payment confirmation and order tracking.
  • Some merchants report slow vendor support during setup.

Pricing

PlanMonthlyAI messages includedExtra AI messageAI comments included

The pricing FAQ says you get unlimited AI messages in your first month, and a refund if Wizybot "is not able to pay for itself in the first month".

What merchants say

Shopify

"The products sync hasn't completed and was stuck; we contacted the developer who never answered, so basically, the app isn't working well and there is no support."

That review is an outlier: 155 of the 167 ratings are 5 stars, and most praise the support team, in Spanish.

My take: Pick Wizybot if a big share of your sales starts in WhatsApp or Instagram and you want campaigns and AI in one place. Skip it if your support is mostly email tickets. My post on conversational commerce explains where chat selling works best.

5. Richpanel

Best for: brands whose chats are mostly about orders, and who want the AI to change them.

The Richpanel listing image headlined All Channels, Manage Email, Live Chat, Facebook, Instagram, Phone, SMS from one place, with an inbox showing channel counts and customer messages like where is my order and I want to cancel my order, as taken from the Richpanel listing
The Richpanel listing image headlined All Channels, Manage Email, Live Chat, Facebook, Instagram, Phone, SMS from one place, with an inbox showing channel counts and customer messages like where is my order and I want to cancel my order, as taken from the Richpanel listing

Richpanel is a Shopify helpdesk with AI agents that resolve tickets end to end. Its Shopify listing carries 4.9 from 137 reviews. ChatGPT put it at the support end: "Stronger emphasis on refunds, returns, order modifications, and ticket resolution".

What it does better than Zipchat

  • Order changes, not just answers. Its AI agents page lists tracking, address edits, exchanges, store credit, subscription skips, cancellations and returns across Shopify, Recharge, Loop and Skio.
  • A cheap AI meter. AI conversations start at $0.20 each, and you can choose the model (GPT-5.6, Gemini, Opus 5, Sonnet 5 or Kimi).
  • A self-service portal for order tracking and return flows.

Where it falls short

  • Per-seat pricing. Each extra user is another $89 a month on Pro.
  • It is a helpdesk first. If you want proactive selling on product pages, it is not built for that.
  • SMS, social media AI and multiple brands need Pro Max.

Pricing

PlanMonthly per userAnnualAI conversationsNotable inclusions
Pro$89$828/yearFrom $0.20 eachEmail, phone, chat, Facebook, Instagram; 2 stores

Self Service$119$1,188/yearFrom $0.20 eachOrder tracking, returns and exchanges; $299 per extra 20K orders

Prices are from the Shopify listing, with a 14-day free trial. My Richpanel pricing post covers the contract terms.

What merchants say

Shopify

"After using Gorgias for a few years, we were very happy with moving over to RP, they have an amazing support staff."

Shopify

"While there are occasional issues with AI, their team is quick to investigate and resolve them"

My take: Pick Richpanel if most of your Zipchat chats end with "can you change my order?" and you have a small, steady team. Skip it if your goal is more sales from the storefront. See Richpanel alternatives and the best AI for Richpanel for the wider field.

6. Manifest AI

Best for: brands that want product finders, quizzes and A/B-tested chat placements, and are happy to buy through a demo.

The Manifest AI listing image headlined The chat on your site that knows your business, with a Solve Apparel chat answering Does this run true to size? and showing three product cards with sizes and add to cart buttons, as taken from the Manifest AI listing
The Manifest AI listing image headlined The chat on your site that knows your business, with a Solve Apparel chat answering Does this run true to size? and showing three product cards with sizes and add to cart buttons, as taken from the Manifest AI listing

Manifest AI is a shopping assistant for Shopify with 4.4 from 61 reviews on its Shopify listing. Its site describes "100+ pre-built AI commerce agents" across search, recommendations, quizzes, order status and returns, and says it runs on its own models (Lite, Pro and Ultra) rather than ChatGPT or Claude.

What it does better than Zipchat

  • Discovery tools beyond chat. Quizzes, PDP widgets and AI search, with built-in A/B testing of placements.
  • Security badges on the homepage: SOC 2, ISO 27001 and GDPR.
  • Integrations with Gorgias, Klaviyo, Yotpo and Shopify Inbox, per the listing.

Where it falls short

  • No public pricing. The listing says free to install, and the pricing page sends you to a demo.
  • Reviews are split: 7 of 61 ratings are 1 star, mostly about onboarding and support.
  • The old manifest.ai domain is now for sale, so make sure you are on getmanifest.ai.

What merchants say

Shopify

"The chatbot integrates well and helps customers navigate products quickly, which improves the overall shopping experience."

Shopify

"We wanted to implement ManifestAI as the core AI solution for our e-commerce platform due to its promising features. Unfortunately, we couldn't even get it up and running."

My take: Pick Manifest AI if product discovery is your growth lever and you want a vendor that sets it up with you. Skip it if you want to see a price before you talk to sales. My guide to Shopify AI tools lists other discovery apps.

7. Shopify Inbox

Best for: stores that want free chat and a basic AI agent without another vendor.

The Shopify Inbox listing on the Shopify App Store showing Free pricing, a 4.6 rating and the headline An AI sales associate for your online store, as taken from the Shopify App Store

Shopify Inbox is Shopify's own chat app, free, with 4.6 from 5,806 reviews. The optional Inbox agent answers questions about products, shipping, returns, sizing and policies from your catalog and store content, per the Shopify help center. It can personalise recommendations from a shopper's preferences and purchase history when those are available.

What it does better than Zipchat

  • Price. $0, with no reply meter and no per-seat charge.
  • Nothing to connect. Catalog, policies and storefront content come in on install.
  • Shop data. Customers with an active Shop session get personalised recommendations without signing in.

Where it falls short

  • Built for your online store's chat, not for email queues or a multichannel inbox.
  • The agent answers; it does not act on orders.
  • Fewer controls over tone and escalation than a paid tool.

What merchants say

Shopify

"This is good, requires a little learning. Would be great if it could take other actions additional to answering, for example, making a note on the order if it refers to one."

My take: Pick Shopify Inbox if your chat volume is small and you mainly want answers on product pages for free. It is also a good control group: run it for two weeks before you pay for anything else. My Shopify Inbox guide covers setup, and Shopify live chat apps lists the rest.

8. eesel

Best for: stores whose chats and tickets after the order are the real workload, and who want an AI that learns from past replies.

eesel working on a Shopify store: a shopper on a demo outdoor gear store asks the eesel chat for a waterproof jacket for winter hiking, and eesel looks through the store's products to answer

Full disclosure: this is my team's product, so weigh my view accordingly. eesel is an AI helpdesk teammate. It answers on your website chat and works the ticket queue inside Gorgias, Zendesk or Freshdesk, and it connects to Shopify so it checks the order or product before it replies.

What it does better than Zipchat

  • Learns from your past tickets, not only your website, so it answers the way your team already does.
  • Counts chats, not replies. A ticket or chat is 1 credit "however many replies go back and forth", per the pricing FAQ.
  • Hands off in the same thread. Inside your helpdesk, a person picks up the ticket the AI started, with the full history.

Nordbutiker, a Swedish e-bike and mobility retailer, runs one eesel bot per brand and country, trained on each store's site and its solved Zendesk tickets, across Zendesk tickets, the website chat bubble and a browser extension for agents. Cape Coffee Beans uses it inside Zendesk with Shopify connected: in one month it ran about 120 knowledge searches and looked up 19 products and 5 orders for the team.

Where it falls short

  • It is not a proactive sales tool. No exit-intent pop-ups, quizzes or discount triggers like Zipchat or Rep AI.
  • Its Shopify listing has only 4 reviews so far (5.0), and still shows older per-task prices; the plans below are from the pricing page.
  • SOC 2 Type II is in progress (the observation period started 1 October 2026), not complete.

Pricing

PlanMonthlyCredits included
Free$0100 to try
500$299500
1,000$4991,000
2,000$8492,000
5,000$1,7495,000

Sizes in between are listed on the pricing page, extra credits are $0.80 each if you turn overage on, and paying a year upfront gets two months free. There are no seat fees.

What merchants say

With only 4 reviews on Shopify, the customer stories are the better evidence. SaunaSpace, for example, drafted about 110 customer conversations in a month with eesel inside Gorgias.

My take: Pick eesel if Zipchat sells well for you but the post-purchase tickets are swamping your team, or if you want one AI on chat and email that learns from your history. Keep a selling chat like Zipchat or Rep AI on product pages if proactive sales matter. My AI for Gorgias guide shows how the two fit together.

Before you switch: test the handoff, not just the answers

Most trials test whether the AI answers correctly. Fewer test what happens next, and that is where Zipchat's worst reviews come from.

Hand-drawn loop of four cards connected by arrows: 1 AI can't answer, 2 Hands off to a person, 3 Person replies, 4 Customer writes back, with the question Still one thread? in the middle
Hand-drawn loop of four cards connected by arrows: 1 AI can't answer, 2 Hands off to a person, 3 Person replies, 4 Customer writes back, with the question Still one thread? in the middle

Here is the test plan I would run on any tool from this list, in about a week:

  1. Replay 30 to 50 real chats. ChatGPT suggested the same number, and it is enough to see patterns without a month of work. Use your actual Zipchat history, not made-up questions.
  2. Score answers and sales separately. Track resolved support questions and AI-assisted orders as two numbers. A bot that sends many replies but resolves little is not an upgrade.
  3. Run the full handoff loop. Make the AI give up, have a person reply, then reply again as the customer. Check that it is still one thread with the history attached. My guide to chatbot escalation covers what good looks like.
  4. Price it at your volume. Use the calculator above with your real chat count and replies per chat.
  5. Time it to your renewal. Zipchat says unused months on an annual plan are not refunded, so a monthly plan is the safer place to switch from.

My guide to testing AI agents has a longer checklist.

Which Zipchat alternative should you pick?

  • You love Zipchat's selling and want more of it: Rep AI, or Manifest AI if you want quizzes and a hands-on setup.
  • Support has outgrown a chat app: Gorgias for the most common Shopify helpdesk, Richpanel if the AI should change orders.
  • You are a small team on a budget: Tidio for chat plus AI under a few hundred chats a month, or Shopify Inbox for free.
  • You sell in WhatsApp and Instagram: Wizybot.
  • Your problem is the tickets after checkout: eesel, alongside whatever chat sells on your product pages.

If I ran a Shopify store on Zipchat today, I would not rip it out on day one. I would move the slider in the calculator to my real replies per chat. If the reply meter is the problem, a per-conversation tool fixes it. If the handoff is the problem, the fix is an AI that lives where your team already works. Try eesel on your Shopify store's chats

If your Zipchat bill is climbing because shoppers ask follow-up after follow-up, eesel counts that whole chat as 1 credit. It answers on your website chat and in your helpdesk, checks the Shopify order before it replies, and learns from the tickets your team has already solved, so "where is my order?" and "can I swap the size?" get your team's answer, not a generic one. Nordbutiker runs it across four brands in four countries.

You can Try eesel free with 100 credits, connect Shopify and your helpdesk, and run it on last month's real chats before a customer sees a single reply.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the best Zipchat alternatives for a Shopify store?

Rep AI is the closest swap if you want a chat that sells. Gorgias and Richpanel fit if support is the bigger job, Tidio sits in the middle for small teams, Wizybot suits WhatsApp and Instagram selling, and Shopify Inbox is the free option. My Zipchat review covers what you would be replacing.

Is there a cheaper alternative to Zipchat?

Shopify Inbox is free and includes an AI agent. At 1,000 AI chats a month, Wizybot's $149.99 Basic plan and Richpanel's $89 seat plus about $200 of AI conversations both come in under Zipchat's $300 Pro plan. My guide to chatbot cost shows how to compare billing units.

How much does Zipchat cost compared with its alternatives?

Zipchat costs $80 a month for 750 AI replies on Starter, $300 for 3,000 on Pro and $600 for 6,000 on Scale, with 20% off on annual billing. Tidio's Lyro starts at $39 for 50 AI conversations, Gorgias at $40 with AI Agent, and eesel at $299 for 500 credits. The calculator in this post compares them at your volume.

Which Zipchat alternative is best for product recommendations?

Rep AI and Manifest AI lean hardest into selling, with proactive chats, product finders and quizzes. Tidio's Lyro and Gorgias's Shopping Assistant also recommend products from your catalog. For the questions shoppers ask before buying, see my guide to pre-purchase questions.

Which Zipchat alternative handles order changes best?

Richpanel and Gorgias have the deepest Shopify order actions, such as cancelling, editing addresses and handling returns. Rep AI's support plan also cancels and modifies orders. If most of your chats are about where an order is, my guide to WISMO automation is the place to start.

Does Zipchat charge per conversation or per reply?

Per reply. Zipchat counts every outbound AI message as one reply, so a chat with three AI answers uses three replies. Tidio, Gorgias, Richpanel and eesel count the whole conversation once. My post on deflection vs resolution explains why the unit matters.

Can I use a Zipchat alternative with Gorgias or Zendesk?

Yes. Rep AI and Manifest AI both list Gorgias as an integration, and Rep AI also lists Zendesk. eesel works inside Gorgias, Zendesk and Freshdesk as an AI teammate on the ticket queue. My guide to AI for Gorgias covers the options in more depth.

How do I switch from Zipchat without losing sales?

Run the new tool on 30 to 50 of your real chats before you turn Zipchat off, and test a full handoff where a person replies and the customer writes back. Zipchat bills monthly or annually and does not refund unused annual months, so time the switch to your renewal. My guide to switching AI vendors walks through a phased cutover.
