Why do Shopify stores look for MooseDesk alternatives?

MooseDesk earns its reputation. The Shopify App Store listing shows 5.0 stars from 486 reviews, with 477 of them five-star. It bundles an AI chatbot, a live chat widget, a shared inbox for chat, email, Messenger and Instagram, an FAQ page builder and order tracking, and every plan includes unlimited AI chatbot replies. My MooseDesk review goes through each feature.

The MooseDesk homepage with the headline All-in-one AI support tool that converts, and cards showing an order shipped message, a 92% tickets auto-resolved by AI figure, a 5.0 rating from 480+ reviews and a unified inbox, as taken from MooseDesk

Merchants mostly praise how much it gives a small store for very little money:

Shopify

"We are a small business <5 staff, zendesk too expensive. Switch to Moosedesk about 8 weeks ago. Everything to date has been great. Excellent service from Mia and now we're not paying for online chat. Win-win."

Here is the current price list from MooseDesk's pricing page:

PlanPriceAI chatbot repliesProducts the AI learnsTeam membersEmail channelsTickets a month
Free$0Unlimited1001NoneNot listed
Starter$19/moUnlimited50031Not listed
Growth$49/moUnlimited5,00010Unlimited300
Business$249/moUnlimited20,000UnlimitedUnlimited2,000

Paid plans come with a 7-day trial and bill through Shopify every 30 days. That table, plus the docs, explains most of the reasons stores start shopping around:

  • The AI learns from three sources. MooseDesk's docs list Q&A pairs, FAQ Builder articles and synced Shopify products. Past tickets, a website crawl and outside documents are not on that list, so every answer the bot gives has to be written down first. One merchant trained it on 120 questions; another reviewer noted a "feature request for automatic product sync".
  • Seats come in steps. 1, 3, 10, then unlimited. A store with 4 people answering chat moves from $19 to $49, and an 11th person moves it to $249.
  • Ticket caps on the bigger plans. Growth lists 300 tickets a month and Business 2,000. I could not find what happens past the cap in MooseDesk's docs or pricing FAQ.
  • No native phone app. The "mobile app" is a web app you add to your home screen from a QR code. A 3-star reviewer said the only way to spot a new chat was to check email "every few minutes".
  • Shopify only, and WhatsApp is a button. MooseDesk is available exclusively for Shopify merchants, and its WhatsApp skin opens WhatsApp rather than bringing those chats into the inbox.
  • No published security page. I found no SOC 2 or similar page for MooseDesk, and no G2, Capterra, Trustpilot or Reddit pages to cross-check the Shopify reviews against.
Hand-drawn comparison titled What the AI reads before it answers: a Store content only column listing MooseDesk, Shopify Inbox and Chatty with products, FAQ articles and policies tags, and an arrow to a Store content plus past tickets column listing eesel with products, help center, past tickets and live orders tags

None of these are dealbreakers for a one-person store with a tidy FAQ. They start to matter when the team grows, or when the questions customers ask stop matching the answers you wrote down.

Shopify

"Great app. I was able to train the bot with 120 common questions that answer probably 95% of my customers questions."

That review is the best case, and it shows the trade: 120 hand-written answers is real work, and it has to be kept up as products and policies change.

What should you check before switching?

A support app is easy to install and annoying to undo. Before you move, I'd test five things on your real store:

  1. What the AI learns from. Ask it three questions you answered by email last week. If it can only use Q&A you write, you are moving the same maintenance job to a new app. My guide on training AI on past tickets explains why ticket history matters.
  2. How it bills a busy month. Tickets, conversations, seats, credits or a flat fee: each one behaves differently during a sale. The cost section below works through it.
  3. Order lookups and actions. Can the bot and your team see the order, tracking and fulfilment status inside the chat? Can anyone edit, refund or cancel without opening Shopify?
  4. Channels. If you rely on Messenger and Instagram in MooseDesk today, make sure the new app connects them on the plan you are buying, and check whether WhatsApp is a real inbox channel.
  5. Notifications on your phone. Answer a test chat from your phone before you switch. For a two-person store, a missed-chat alert matters more than any feature list.

My guide to testing an AI agent shows how to check answers before shoppers see them.

Prices are the entry paid plan on each vendor's own pricing page or Shopify App Store listing on October 21, 2026. Ratings are from each app's Shopify listing. "Not listed" means I did not find it on the vendor pages I read.

MooseDesk is still the cheapest way to get unlimited AI replies on Shopify. What the others sell is either a smarter source of answers, more room for a growing team, or a real helpdesk around the chat.

Hand-drawn map of three routes away from MooseDesk: swap the chat app (Shopify Inbox, Chatty, Tidio, Willdesk), move to a full helpdesk (Gorgias, Re:amaze, Crisp), or hire an AI teammate (eesel, on your site chat or new helpdesk)

The three routes are the honest way to read the table. Shopify Inbox, Chatty, Tidio and Willdesk replace MooseDesk app for app. Gorgias, Re:amaze and Crisp replace it with a bigger ecommerce helpdesk. eesel replaces the AI part and works with whichever chat or helpdesk you land on.

Which MooseDesk alternative fits your store?

Pick the main reason you are leaving. The recommendation uses the same vendor prices as the table above.

Why are you leaving MooseDesk?

Pick one. Prices checked on each vendor's page on October 21, 2026.

Pick a reason above to see where I would start.

Start witheesel, which learns from your past tickets, help center and catalog, and checks the Shopify order before answering. From 100 free credits, then $299/mo for 500.

Also tryTidio's Lyro, which scrapes your website, from $39/mo for 200 Lyro conversations.

Watch outTest both on last week's real questions, not the demo ones.

Start withRe:amaze Starter, $59/mo flat for unlimited team members and 500 responded conversations.

Also tryWilldesk (unlimited seats on every plan) or Gorgias (unlimited users, billed by ticket).

Watch outRe:amaze's other plans are per member, from $29/mo each.

Start withGorgias, where agents edit, refund and cancel Shopify orders inside the ticket. Basic is $60/mo for 300 tickets.

Also tryRe:amaze if you run several stores, with multi-brand on Pro.

Watch outGorgias AI Agent is billed on top, per automated interaction.

Start withShopify Inbox, free, with an optional AI agent that answers from your catalog and policies.

Also tryWilldesk Free: unlimited agent seats, 20 conversations a month.

Watch outOr stay on MooseDesk Free, which still has unlimited AI replies.

Start withChatty, an AI sales agent that recommends products with add-to-cart buttons. Pro is $68.99/mo for 500 AI conversations.

Also tryTidio, whose Lyro starts chats on product pages and adds items to cart.

Watch outBoth bill per AI conversation, unlike MooseDesk's unlimited replies.

If none of these fits, my roundups of Shopify live chat apps and the best AI helpdesks for Shopify go wider.

What does a month of support cost with each tool?

The sticker price matters less than the billing unit. The unit decides what happens when a sale or a shipping delay doubles your inbox.

Hand-drawn row of five cards showing what makes the bill grow: tickets for Gorgias and MooseDesk Growth, conversations for Willdesk, Tidio and Chatty, seats for Re:amaze, credits for eesel, and a flat price per workspace for Crisp
Hand-drawn row of five cards showing what makes the bill grow: tickets for Gorgias and MooseDesk Growth, conversations for Willdesk, Tidio and Chatty, seats for Re:amaze, credits for eesel, and a flat price per workspace for Crisp

Here is a worked example: a Shopify store with 3 people answering and about 400 conversations a month, using each vendor's published monthly prices.

MooseDeskStarter$193 seats, unlimited AI replies; Growth ($49) if you need more than one email inbox

CrispMini$454 seats, flat per workspace, $5 of AI credits included
Re:amazeStarter$59Unlimited members, 500 responded conversations
ChattyPro$68.99500 AI conversations, $0.40 each after
TidioCustomer Service plus Lyro$98The listing's $59 price for 250 to 1,000 conversations, plus $39 for 200 Lyro conversations
GorgiasBasic plus overage$100$60 for 300 tickets, plus $40 per extra 100; AI Agent billed separately
eesel500 credits$299AI handles all 400 chats; not a human inbox, so pair it with chat or a helpdesk

On price alone, MooseDesk is hard to beat for a 3-person store. The case for moving is about what you get per dollar: answers that do not need writing first, order actions, or AI that resolves a chat without anyone touching it. That last one is where eesel's $299 gets compared against hours of a person's time, not against a $19 app.

1. Tidio: chat, inbox and AI agent in one app

Best for: small to mid-size Shopify stores that want the closest like-for-like replacement, with a more mature AI agent.

The Tidio listing on the Shopify App Store with its 4.8 rating, a demo video and the line Sell more and handle customer support with an AI chatbot, live chat and email helpdesk, as taken from the Shopify App Store
The Tidio listing on the Shopify App Store with its 4.8 rating, a demo video and the line Sell more and handle customer support with an AI chatbot, live chat and email helpdesk, as taken from the Shopify App Store

Tidio is the replacement ChatGPT names first when you ask about MooseDesk, and I can see why. It covers the same jobs (website chat, a helpdesk for chat, email and social, and an AI agent called Lyro) with more depth on the AI side. Lyro answers FAQs and order-tracking questions, and on its own plan it can take native Shopify actions and scrape your website for answers, so you do not have to write every Q&A pair by hand.

What it does well

  • Lyro reads your website through a built-in scraper, which removes the biggest chore of MooseDesk's Q&A setup.
  • On the storefront, Lyro starts conversations on product pages, compares products and adds items to the cart.
  • A mobile app and social integrations sit on the Free plan, and the app has 1,356 Shopify reviews at 4.8.
Reddit

"And to my knowledge, it's actual AI. It scraped my site and can answer questions based on the knowledge it got from my site."

Where it falls short

  • Two meters: conversations your team handles, and Lyro conversations for the AI. MooseDesk's unlimited AI replies become a monthly count.
  • Native Shopify actions sit on the Lyro AI Chatbot plan, not on the chat plan.
  • Lyro learns from your site and help content; Tidio's plan pages do not list past tickets as a source.

Pricing

Plan (Shopify billing)Per monthBilled yearlyWhat you get
Free$0$0Live chat with 50 users, Flows for 100 visitors, ticketing, mobile app
Customer Service$29 for 100 conversations, $59 for 250 to 1,000$290Analytics, live visitors, operating hours, AI reply assistant
Flows$29$290Up to 40,000 visitors, visual chatbot builder
Lyro AI Chatbot$39$390Up to 200 Lyro conversations, website scraper, native Shopify actions

Prices from the Tidio Shopify listing. Tidio's own site sells the same product as Starter, Growth and Plus plans; my Tidio pricing post maps one to the other.

Verdict: Pick Tidio if your reason for leaving is that MooseDesk's AI needs too much hand-feeding and you are happy to pay per conversation. Skip it if unlimited AI replies are the thing you value most. My Tidio alternatives list covers the next step.

2. Chatty: an AI sales agent for the storefront

Best for: Shopify stores where most chats are pre-purchase questions about sizing, stock and shipping.

Chatty's listing image of the AI chatbot answering a size question with a pink sneaker product card, View product and Add to cart buttons, then a payment confirmation, as taken from Chatty's app listing
Chatty's listing image of the AI chatbot answering a size question with a pink sneaker product card, View product and Add to cart buttons, then a payment confirmation, as taken from Chatty's app listing

Chatty is the closest app to MooseDesk in shape: Shopify-only, Built for Shopify, with live chat, an AI agent and a helpdesk inbox. The difference is focus. Chatty leans into selling, with product cards and add-to-cart buttons in the chat, and it trains on more sources than MooseDesk: Shopify products, store data, FAQs, Q&A you write, page URLs, files and custom instructions. Learning from past support conversations is listed as "coming soon" in its help center.

What it does well

  • More training sources than MooseDesk, including page URLs and files, so less hand-written Q&A.
  • A monthly spending limit you set, after which the AI pauses rather than running up overage.
  • 4.9 stars from 1,882 Shopify reviews, more reviews than any other third-party app in this list.

Where it falls short

  • AI is metered: 50 AI conversations on Free and 100 on Basic, then $0.40 each. Coming from MooseDesk's unlimited replies, that is the biggest change.
  • Helpdesk tools like SLAs, macros and helpdesk reports were not listed yet when I checked, and Chatty lists no SOC 2 or ISO certification.
  • Some reviewers report misses on product questions:
Shopify

"Unfortunately, it's not answering some customer questions correctly. Even though there was a product in there exactly as the customer wrote it, it still didn't pick it up."

Plus$199$2,039.881,000$0.40

Prices from the Chatty Shopify listing. My Chatty pricing post works through the overage math.

Verdict: Pick Chatty if your chat is mostly a sales channel and you want an AI that recommends products. Skip it if support tickets, not shopping questions, fill your inbox. See Chatty alternatives if it is close but not right.

3. Gorgias: a helpdesk built around Shopify orders

Best for: growing stores where orders, refunds, returns and cancellations make up most of the inbox.

Gorgias ticket view with the Shopify order management widget showing orders marked In transit and Processing next to the conversation, as taken from Gorgias
Gorgias ticket view with the Shopify order management widget showing orders marked In transit and Processing next to the conversation, as taken from Gorgias

Gorgias is the step up from a chat app to a full Shopify helpdesk. Chat, email and social land in one queue, and the customer's Shopify orders sit next to every ticket, where agents can edit, refund and cancel without opening Shopify admin. It never charges per seat. You pay for ticket volume, and past your plan it bills extra tickets instead of stopping. Its AI Agent answers FAQs and order questions, takes actions you allow, and hands off to your team with context.

What it does well

  • Order edits, refunds and cancellations inside the ticket, which MooseDesk's agents cannot do.
  • Unlimited users on every plan, so a growing team does not trigger a plan jump.
  • Rules, macros and auto-tagging for repetitive tickets, plus SOC 2 Type II for stores that get asked about security.

Where it falls short

  • Two meters: tickets for the helpdesk and automated interactions for the AI Agent. A ticket the AI fully resolves can count toward both.
  • The listing shows 10% one-star ratings among 706 reviews, a wider spread than the other apps here.
  • More setup than a chat widget; you are moving your whole inbox, not adding a bubble.

Pricing

Helpdesk prices from the Gorgias Shopify listing, AI Agent bundles from Gorgias pricing. My Gorgias AI Agent pricing breakdown covers the per-interaction fee.

Verdict: Pick Gorgias if order questions are most of your volume and you are ready to run a real helpdesk. Skip it if you mostly answer pre-sale chats. Gorgias alternatives for Shopify covers its neighbours.

4. Re:amaze: one inbox for many channels and stores

Best for: stores running several brands or storefronts, or teams that want SMS and voice in the same inbox.

Re:amaze live view showing a VIP customer profile with recent page visits next to Message and Peek buttons, from Re:amaze
Re:amaze live view showing a VIP customer profile with recent page visits next to Message and Peek buttons, from Re:amaze

Re:amaze is a helpdesk that puts email, live chat, social, SMS and voice for all your stores in one inbox, with order history next to each conversation. It has a Welcome Bot, an Order Bot, custom bots and a public and internal FAQ, and its AI Agent comes with a set number of resolutions per team member. The flat Starter plan is the interesting one for a MooseDesk team: unlimited team members for one price.

What it does well

  • Starter is $59 a month flat for unlimited team members, which solves MooseDesk's seat steps.
  • Multi-brand in one account from Pro, and SMS and voice channels on the same plan.
  • Order number, items and order history next to the customer's message.

Where it falls short

  • The AI Agent includes 5, 10 or 20 resolutions per user a month, then $0.85 each, so the AI is metered.
  • Starter is capped at 500 responded conversations a month, with extra 100-packs at $15.
  • No free plan, and I did not find a security certification listed on its pages.

Pricing

Prices from Re:amaze pricing, with extra resolutions at $0.85. My Re:amaze pricing post has worked examples.

Verdict: Pick Re:amaze if you run more than one store or need SMS and voice next to chat. Skip it if you want unmetered AI. If you are weighing it against others, see Re:amaze AI alternatives.

5. Shopify Inbox: free chat built by Shopify

Best for: stores that want free chat and a basic AI agent without adding another vendor.

The Shopify Inbox agent settings, showing an AI sales associate persona and capabilities for product information, store policies and FAQs, customer personalization, order lookup and human hand-off, as taken from the Shopify App Store
The Shopify Inbox agent settings, showing an AI sales associate persona and capabilities for product information, store policies and FAQs, customer personalization, order lookup and human hand-off, as taken from the Shopify App Store

Shopify Inbox is Shopify's own chat app, and it is free. Your staff answer from the desktop or mobile app, and you can turn on an Inbox agent that acts as an AI sales associate. It learns from your catalog, policies and store content, you control its tone and rules, and when a shopper signs in with Shop it can use their preferences and purchase history from across Shopify.

What it does well

  • Free, with nothing to sync: catalog, inventory and policies come in on their own.
  • An optional AI agent with order lookup and human hand-off, run with or without it.
  • 4.6 stars from 5,805 reviews, the largest base of any app in this list.

Where it falls short

  • It is storefront chat, not a helpdesk: no email inbox, no Messenger or Instagram inbox listed on the app page.
  • No FAQ page builder or ticket views like MooseDesk's.
  • The agent learns from store content, so past email conversations are not part of its knowledge.

Pricing

Free on the Shopify App Store, including the Inbox agent.

Verdict: Pick Shopify Inbox if MooseDesk's paid plans feel like more than you need and chat is your only channel. Skip it if you handle email and social in the same place today. For AI on top of it, see my Shopify AI chatbot guide.

6. Willdesk: a budget helpdesk with order tracking

Best for: stores that want unlimited seats and built-in order tracking at a low entry price.

The Willdesk homepage with the headline Win Customer Satisfaction and Streamline Complex Support Tasks, a Start Free button and a product view of the inbox with a refund request, tagged replies and an order details panel, as taken from Willdesk
The Willdesk homepage with the headline Win Customer Satisfaction and Streamline Complex Support Tasks, a Start Free button and a product view of the inbox with a refund request, tagged replies and an order details panel, as taken from Willdesk

Willdesk, from Channelwill, is the closest match to MooseDesk on price. It is a Shopify helpdesk with live chat, a help center and FAQ pages, web forms, email, and Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp in one ticketing inbox. Its AI agent handles order tracking, returns, cancellations and address updates, and it works with Channelwill's own apps such as ParcelPanel and Loloyal, plus TrackingMore, Klaviyo and Mailchimp.

What it does well

  • Unlimited agent seats on every plan, including Free.
  • Order tracking built into the widget, with a tracked-order quota on each plan.
  • Multi-store support: 3 stores on Basic and multiple stores on Pro.

Where it falls short

  • Conversation caps are tight at the bottom: 20 a month on Free and 100 on Basic. A conversation only counts once an agent answers it.
  • Three overage meters on paid plans: conversations, tracked orders and AI conversations.
  • Its own pricing FAQ says there is no trial on paid plans, while the Shopify listing shows a 7-day trial, so check which applies when you install.

Pricing

Prices from the Willdesk Shopify listing and Willdesk pricing. WhatsApp messages are $10 per 100 on paid plans.

Verdict: Pick Willdesk if you want MooseDesk's price range with unlimited seats and order tracking built in. Skip it if your volume swings a lot, since every meter moves.

7. Crisp: a flat price for a shared inbox

Best for: small teams that want chat, email and social in one inbox at a price that does not move with volume.

The Crisp homepage with the headline Augment your customer experience, an AI Agents card and a shared inbox with a conversation open, as taken from the Crisp site
The Crisp homepage with the headline Augment your customer experience, an AI Agents card and a shared inbox with a conversation open, as taken from the Crisp site

Crisp prices per workspace, not per conversation, ticket or AI reply. That makes it the most predictable bill in this list after MooseDesk itself. Mini gets 4 seats for $45 a month, Shopify and WooCommerce data sync into conversations, and every paid plan includes credits for Hugo, its AI agent. Unlike MooseDesk, Crisp also works outside Shopify, which helps if you sell on more than one platform.

What it does well

  • Flat workspace pricing that does not change during a sale.
  • Shopify order data inside conversations, plus WhatsApp Business, Instagram and SMS channels.
  • Works on any site, not only Shopify.

Where it falls short

  • Included AI credits are small on Mini ($5, which Crisp says covers about 90 automated conversations). Heavy AI use means buying more.
  • The free plan has 2 seats and no AI credits.
  • Ticketing is listed as a Plus feature, so Mini is an inbox rather than a ticket system.

Pricing

Essentials$9510$25 (about 450)
Plus$29520+ ($10 per extra agent)$75 (about 1,350)

Prices from Crisp pricing. My Crisp pricing post goes deeper.

Verdict: Pick Crisp if you have 3 to 10 people, sell on more than Shopify, and want a fixed bill. Skip it if you want the AI to answer most chats, since the included credits are modest. See Crisp alternatives if it is close but not right.

8. eesel: an AI teammate that learns from your tickets

Best for: stores whose questions do not fit a hand-written FAQ, and who want AI that checks the real order before it answers.

The eesel AI Chat Bubble page with the headline Instant AI answers right where your users are, showing under 5 minutes to add a chat bubble, 80%+ of questions answered automatically and 80+ languages, as taken from eesel
The eesel AI Chat Bubble page with the headline Instant AI answers right where your users are, showing under 5 minutes to add a chat bubble, 80%+ of questions answered automatically and 80+ languages, as taken from eesel

eesel is not another chat inbox. It is an AI helpdesk teammate: you hire it, connect it to Shopify and your support tools, and it starts working. It learns from your past tickets as well as your help center, website and catalog, so the answers your team already gave become its training. Through the Shopify integration it looks up orders, fulfilment and tracking before it replies, and it hands refunds and complaints to a person with a note on what it found.

One thing to be clear about: eesel does not connect to MooseDesk. Stores leaving MooseDesk use it in one of two ways. On the storefront, it runs as a chat bubble you add with one script tag. Or, if you move to a helpdesk like Gorgias or Zendesk, it works inside that queue as a teammate.

Two published eesel customers on Gorgias and Shopify show both styles:

  • Question Beauty, a cosmetics brand, had eesel handle about 990 Gorgias tickets in a month, send about 960 replies itself, and look up about 290 Shopify orders before answering. Refunds, complaints and chargebacks go to a person with a note attached.
  • STIL Classics, which sells planners and binders, has eesel prepare about 320 tickets a month as internal-note drafts, after looking up about 230 Shopify orders. A person checks and sends each one.

What it does well

  • Learns from past tickets, so the agent picks up your team's tone and the answers you already gave. That was the gap behind the 65% figure in my opener.
  • Checks the live Shopify order, fulfilment and stock before it writes, instead of guessing from a policy page.
  • Unlimited seats and agents on every plan, and you can test it against past conversations before any shopper sees it.

Where it falls short

  • It is the AI layer, not a human chat app. If your team wants to answer chats live, pair it with Shopify Inbox, a chat app or a helpdesk.
  • No MooseDesk integration, so you cannot keep MooseDesk's inbox and add eesel on top.
  • $299 a month is far more than MooseDesk's $19. It pays off when AI resolves enough tickets to save real hours.

Prices from eesel pricing. A ticket or a chat is 1 credit however long it runs. Past your credits you can turn on overage at $0.80 each with a monthly cap you set, and paying yearly gets two months free. The SOC 2 Type II audit is in progress, per the eesel security page.

Verdict: Pick eesel if MooseDesk's AI keeps missing questions your team answers every day, and you want AI that checks orders and learns from your history. Skip it if a $19 app with hand-written answers already covers you. My comparison of Gorgias AI Agent vs eesel shows how it fits next to a Shopify helpdesk.

How do you move off MooseDesk without losing anything?

Switching takes an afternoon if you do it in this order:

  1. Export what you wrote. Your Q&A pairs and FAQ articles are the most valuable thing in MooseDesk. MooseDesk supports FAQ import and export on every plan, so pull them out first. Most of the tools above can take them as knowledge.
  2. Run both widgets for a week. Put the new app on a test page or behind a flag, answer real chats in it, and keep MooseDesk live elsewhere.
  3. Reconnect Messenger and Instagram. Social pages connect to one inbox at a time, so plan the move for a quiet hour, and point email forwarding at the new helpdesk.
  4. Rebuild order tracking. If you used MooseDesk's order tracking module or TrackingMore, check the new app's version on a real order number before you switch. My guide on connecting Shopify order data covers the options.
  5. Uninstall MooseDesk from Shopify admin. Paid plans keep access to the end of the billing period, so time it near your renewal date.

Whatever you pick, load it on your real store, on a phone, during a busy hour, before you switch.

Which MooseDesk alternative should you pick?

Here is how I'd decide, by the reason you are leaving:

  • The AI needs too much hand-feeding: eesel if you want it to learn from past tickets and check orders; Tidio if a website scrape is enough.
  • Your team outgrew 3 or 10 seats: Re:amaze Starter at $59 flat for unlimited members, or Willdesk with unlimited seats on every plan.
  • Orders, refunds and returns fill the inbox: Gorgias, which bills extra tickets instead of stopping.
  • You want to spend nothing: Shopify Inbox with its AI agent switched on, or stay on MooseDesk Free.
  • Chat is a sales channel: Chatty, or Tidio's Lyro.
  • You sell beyond Shopify and want a fixed bill: Crisp.

Try eesel on your Shopify store

If you are leaving MooseDesk because the bot only knows what you typed into it, eesel starts from what your team already wrote: past tickets, your help center and your catalog. It checks the real Shopify order before it answers, sends refunds and complaints to a person with a note, and runs on your site chat or inside Gorgias or Zendesk if you move to a helpdesk. Question Beauty uses it that way on Gorgias, looking up Shopify orders before every delivery reply.

Start with 100 free credits, run it against last month's questions, and only put it in front of shoppers when the answers look right. Try eesel.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best alternative to MooseDesk?

For most small Shopify stores it is Tidio, which keeps chat, an inbox and the Lyro AI agent in one app. If order questions are most of your volume, Gorgias is the stronger MooseDesk alternative because refunds, edits and cancellations happen inside the ticket. My Tidio review and Gorgias review cover both in depth.

Is there a free alternative to MooseDesk?

Yes. Shopify Inbox is free, built by Shopify, and includes an optional AI agent that answers from your catalog and policies. Willdesk also has a free plan with unlimited agent seats, capped at 20 conversations a month. See my Shopify Inbox guide for setup.

Why do Shopify stores switch from MooseDesk?

Usually because of what the AI can learn from (Q&A pairs, FAQ articles and Shopify products, not past tickets), the seat steps (1, 3, 10, then unlimited at $249 a month), and the 300-ticket cap on Growth. My MooseDesk review walks through each one.

Which MooseDesk alternative has the best AI chatbot for Shopify?

It depends on what the AI should read. Tidio's Lyro scrapes your website and can take native Shopify actions on its own plan. eesel learns from your past tickets as well as your help center and catalog, and checks the live Shopify order before it answers. My roundup of Shopify chatbot apps compares more options.

Does eesel integrate with MooseDesk?

No. eesel connects to Shopify directly and to helpdesks such as Gorgias and Zendesk, and it runs its own chat bubble on your store. Stores leaving MooseDesk use it either as the AI on their site chat or inside the helpdesk they move to, the way Question Beauty runs it on Gorgias.

How much do MooseDesk alternatives cost?

For a 3-person team with about 400 conversations a month, the vendor list prices run from $0 (Shopify Inbox) to about $45 (Crisp Mini), $59 (Re:amaze Starter), $69 (Chatty Pro), $98 (Tidio chat plus Lyro) and $100 (Gorgias Basic plus extra tickets). My Gorgias Shopify pricing and Chatty pricing posts have the detail.

Which MooseDesk alternative is best for order tracking and returns?

Gorgias, because agents can edit, refund and cancel Shopify orders inside the ticket. Re:amaze shows order history next to each conversation and has an Order Bot. For automating the where-is-my-order flow itself, my WISMO automation guide covers the setups that work.
