7 best Rep AI alternatives for Shopify stores in 2026

Why do Shopify stores look for Rep AI alternatives?
Rep AI deserves its rating. Its behavioral AI watches for shoppers who hesitate, opens a chat at the right moment, recommends products from your catalog and, on the Support plan, tracks orders, changes addresses and starts returns. In my Rep AI review the setup and the support team were the two things store owners praised most. A Reddit thread on supplement stores sums up how most people use it:
"We use rep ai which functions more like a shopping assistant, handling faqs, upselling, and passes the trickier questions to us."
The reasons people leave are specific, and I checked each against the Rep AI pricing page today.

1. The meter is site traffic. Rep AI prices every plan by monthly sessions. AI Sales runs from $104 at 10,000 sessions to $2,510 at 500,000, and extra sessions cost $12 per 1,000, capped at $1,000 a billing period per its billing help article. A sale or a TikTok spike raises the bill even if nobody opens the chat.
2. Selling and support are separate plans. AI Sales and AI Support are priced separately, and AI Concierge bundles both ($726 at 80,000 sessions). If you only need one job done, you're choosing which half to pay for.
3. Email, social and WhatsApp are a beta add-on. The pricing page lists "AI for Email, Social & WhatsApp" at $0.75 per AI-resolved conversation, from $68 a month. Rep AI's own AI Helpdesk is also in beta and open to paying customers only.
4. Customizing costs extra. Flow Studio Builder, Custom Support Policies and Product Finder Customization are $200 each on Sales or Support. Concierge includes them.
5. Some answers miss. Most reviews are glowing, but the critical ones repeat one theme:
"Lots of confident-sounding answers that often don't actually address the question the customer is asking and lead to circular conversations."
None of this makes Rep AI a bad tool. It makes it a tool priced and built for one shape of store: high-intent traffic, catalog questions, and a chat that sells. If your store has drifted from that shape, the list below is sorted by where you've drifted to.
How I picked these alternatives
I'm Rama. I build integrations and APIs at eesel, so when a vendor says its AI "handles returns", my first question is whether it calls the Shopify API and starts the return, or writes a polite paragraph about your returns policy. That gap between doing and explaining is the test I used for every tool here.
To build the shortlist, I asked ChatGPT the question a store owner would ask, in a fresh chat: "I run a Shopify store and use Rep AI as the AI chat assistant on my site. What other AI chat or support tools should I look at instead?" It split its answer into two camps, AI shopping assistants that convert browsers into buyers and AI customer support platforms that handle order tracking, returns and refunds, and said the pick depends on whether Rep AI is mostly selling or mostly reducing support work. It named Gorgias, Tidio, Shopify Inbox, Re:amaze and Richpanel. I added Manifest AI so the selling camp has a real paid option, and eesel for stores whose support lives in a helpdesk.
Among the pages ChatGPT read were seven eesel guides, including the best Shopify chatbot apps, the best AI live chat apps for Shopify and my take on AI chat for ecommerce. They cover the wider field if seven tools isn't enough.
Every price below comes from the vendor's own pricing page or Shopify App Store listing, checked on 22 October 2026.
Two jobs, two shortlists
Here's the idea I'd hold onto while you compare. Rep AI sells three plans because it's doing two jobs, and most alternatives only do one of them well.

- The sell job. Product discovery, sizing help, quizzes, proactive nudges and cart recovery. This is Rep AI Sales. Manifest AI and Shopify Inbox are the like-for-like swaps, and Gorgias has a shopping assistant on top of its helpdesk.
- The support job. Where is my order, returns, exchanges, address changes and the email and DMs that never touch your storefront chat. This is Rep AI Support. Gorgias, Tidio, Re:amaze and Richpanel bring a helpdesk with AI built in, and eesel works inside the helpdesk you already have. It's also where WISMO automation pays back fastest.
If you pay for Concierge and use both halves, you have two decisions, not one. Plenty of stores end up keeping the seller and replacing the support side, or the other way round.

How much does each Rep AI alternative cost at your traffic?
This is where Rep AI's billing unit matters most. Every tool here counts something different, and Rep AI is the only one that counts visitors who never chat.

Take one store at Rep AI's default pricing view: 80,000 sessions and 1,000 shopper chats a month, with 500 of those chats closed by the AI and two people on support. Here's what each tool costs on its list price.
| Tool | What you'd pay a month | How I got there | Covers email and DMs? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shopify Inbox | $0 | Free | No |
| Rep AI Support | $250 | Support plan at 80,000 sessions | Beta add-on, $0.75 per AI resolution |
| Richpanel | About $338 to $398 | 2 seats at $69 (pricing page) or $99 (AI agents page) plus the $200 AI minimum, annual rates | Yes |
| Re:amaze | About $475 | Basic, 2 users at $29, plus 490 extra AI resolutions at $0.85 | Yes |
| eesel | $499 | 1,000 credits, one per chat it works | Works in your helpdesk |
| Rep AI Sales | $578 | Sales plan at 80,000 sessions | Beta add-on |
| Rep AI Concierge | $726 | Sales plus Support at 80,000 sessions | Beta add-on |
| Gorgias | About $793 | Basic with AI Agent $90, 700 extra tickets at $40 per 100, 470 extra automated interactions at $0.90 | Yes |
| Manifest AI | Quote | No public price; the listing points to a demo | Yes, per its homepage |
| Tidio | Calculator | Starter is $29 for 100 billable conversations; bigger Lyro volumes are on its pricing calculator | Light inbox |
Two things jump out. First, at 80,000 sessions Rep AI Concierge costs more than most helpdesks with AI, which also cover email and social. Second, the picture flips for a store with 10,000 sessions and lots of chats: Rep AI Support is $49 there, and almost nothing on this list beats it. So the switch makes the most financial sense when your traffic is high relative to your chat volume. My guide to chatbot cost explains how each unit grows, and deflection vs resolution rate explains why "resolved" means different things on different invoices.
Which Rep AI alternative fits your store?
ChatGPT's follow-up question was the right one: why are you leaving? Tap the reason closest to yours. Each card shows where I'd start and the vendor's own entry price.
Why are you looking past Rep AI?
Pick one reason. Prices are each vendor's list price on 22 October 2026.
Test a different seller before you blame the channel. Run the new tool and Rep AI on split traffic for four weeks and compare conversion yourself.
Catalog recommendations, fit and review agents, quizzes, nudges, and built-in A/B tests for where the AI shows up on the page.
Product answers and recommendations from the same tool that runs your support inbox.
You want the AI to change the order, not describe the policy. Look for tools with a permission per action.
Address edits, exchanges, store credit, cancellations, returns and subscription changes, with refunds held for approval.
Cancel and discount actions from the Basic plan, inside the default Shopify helpdesk.
If your sessions are high and chats are low, a tool that bills per conversation usually wins. If chats are high and traffic is low, Rep AI may already be the cheap option.
An AI sales associate trained on your catalog and policies. It adds to cart but can't change orders.
Live chat, a light inbox and the Lyro AI agent, priced by conversations rather than visitors.
Accuracy comes from what the AI learns from. Pick a tool that trains on your past tickets and lets you test on them before customers see anything.
Learns from your products, policies and past tickets, checks the Shopify order before it answers, and runs on your history first.
Says it tests the model on your own recent tickets before any customer sees a reply.
Email, Instagram DMs and returns usually land in a helpdesk, not the storefront chat. Either move to a helpdesk with AI or add AI to the one you have.
Email, chat, social, SMS and voice in one inbox, with an AI Agent and FAQ center. Good for two to five people.
Answers in Gorgias, Zendesk or Freshdesk across email, chat and social, and can sit next to Rep AI.
Rep AI bills by monthly sessions: $104 (Sales) or $49 (Support) at 10,000, rising to $578 and $250 at 80,000.
1. Manifest AI
Best for: stores that bought Rep AI to sell and want a seller with more control over where and how the AI appears.

Manifest AI, made by BIK, is the sales-side pick on this list, with 4.4 from 61 reviews on its Shopify listing. Its homepage leads with agents for the pre-purchase funnel: a Fit Predictor that recommends a size from height, weight and fit preference, a Customer Review agent that summarizes reviews, product trivia, and conversation starters based on purchase history. It says it serves "500+ fast-growing brands" and lists SOC 2, ISO 27001 and GDPR badges.
What it does that Rep AI doesn't
- A/B tests for AI placements. You can test quizzes, embeds and product-page widgets against each other and track interaction rate, conversion influence and CSAT. Rep AI measures its own impact with a holdout, but placement testing is the point here.
- An agent builder with tools. Agent Studio lets you write instructions and attach actions from Shopify, ShipStation, AfterShip and a REST API, as in the order cancellation template below.
- More channels in the base pitch. Its FAQ says the same agent runs on the website chat, WhatsApp, Instagram, voice calls and email.

Where it falls short
- No public pricing. The Shopify listing shows a free plan to test and sends everything else to a demo, so you can't compare the bill without a sales call.
- The model story differs by page. The listing calls it an "AI Chatbot powered by ChatGPT", while the homepage FAQ says it runs on Manifest's own Lite, Pro and Ultra models. Ask which one your store would use.
- Support work hands off to your existing helpdesk, so you still need one. Its listing reviews are mixed lately too: the two most recent, from May and October 2026, describe onboarding and setup problems.
"Sometimes the chatbot can be a bit too concise in its responses, and adding more detailed or context-rich answers could further enhance the customer experience."
Pricing
| Plan | Price | What the listing includes |
|---|---|---|
| Free (Shopify listing) | $0 to test | AI chatbot, product recommendations, AI training, cart and checkout recovery, lead collection, a dedicated AI expert |
| Paid plans | Quote only | "See all pricing options" links to a demo request |
On G2 it holds 4.5 from 6 reviews, too few to lean on.
My take: Pick Manifest AI if Rep AI's selling job is the reason you installed it and you want more say over placements and experiments. Skip it if you need a price you can read today, or if your real problem is the support queue. My guide to a Shopify AI shopping assistant covers what to expect from this category.
2. Shopify Inbox
Best for: stores that want to see how much of Rep AI's selling job a free tool can do before paying for anything.

Shopify Inbox is Shopify's own chat app, free, with 4.6 from 5,806 reviews. Its listing now says it "puts an AI-powered sales associate on your storefront" that learns from your catalog, policies and store content, while you control tone, style and rules. ChatGPT called it the best free option for basic product and policy questions.
What it does that Rep AI doesn't
- It costs nothing at any traffic level. No session meter, no overage cap, no annual plan to cancel.
- Shop sign-in context. When buyers sign in with Shop, the agent can personalize replies using their preferences and purchase history from across Shopify.
- Zero setup. Catalog, inventory and policies are already connected because it's built by Shopify.
Where it falls short
- Order lookups only work for signed-in customers, per Shopify's Inbox docs. It can add a product to the cart, but it can't refund, edit or cancel an order.
- No proactive behavior detection like Rep AI's drop-off approach.
- It works in your store's chat widget only, so email, Instagram and WhatsApp stay elsewhere.
Pricing
| Plan | Price | What's included |
|---|---|---|
| Shopify Inbox | Free | AI sales associate, live chat, order tracking answers, mobile apps, analytics |
My take: Install Shopify Inbox for a month if cost is your reason to leave Rep AI, and compare assisted orders against what Rep AI attributed. If the gap is small, you've saved the subscription. My roundup of Shopify live chat apps covers the next step up, and the Shopify AI chatbot guide covers what Shopify itself ships.
3. Gorgias
Best for: stores whose support has outgrown a storefront chat and want one helpdesk for every channel, with AI that acts on orders.

Gorgias is the default Shopify helpdesk, with 4.3 from 706 reviews on its Shopify listing. ChatGPT named it the best overall pick for support, since AI and people work in the same inbox with the Shopify order next to every ticket. It's also the helpdesk Rep AI hands chats to, so many Rep AI stores already pay for it.
What it does that Rep AI doesn't
- One AI for chat, email, SMS and social. Rep AI's email and social coverage is a beta add-on; in Gorgias it's the core product.
- Order actions in the ticket. The pricing page lists actions such as cancel, discount and apply from the Basic plan.
- Skills you approve. The screenshot above shows the AI drafting skills that wait for review before they go live.
Where it falls short
- Two meters: helpdesk tickets plus each automated interaction. ChatGPT flagged this too, saying ticket pricing and AI charges add up.
- The Starter plan has no actions or brand voice controls, so order changes start at $90 a month.
- Proactive selling isn't the core pitch the way it is for Rep AI, though its AI Shopping Assistant answers product questions.
"If a meaningful chunk is WISMO, address changes, cancels, refunds, exchanges, Gorgias usually feels worth it because the agent can do the work inside the ticket with Shopify context right there."
Pricing

| Plan | Helpdesk (monthly) | Tickets included | Ticket overage | With AI Agent (monthly) | Automated interactions included | Extra interaction |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $10 | 50 | $0.40 each | $40 | 30 | $1.00 |
| Basic | $60 | 300 | $40 per 100 | $90 | 30 | $0.90 |
| Pro | $360 | 2,000 | $36 per 100 | $550 | 190 | $0.90 |
| Advanced | $900 | 5,000 | $36 per 100 | $1,430 | 530 | $0.85 |
Prices are from the Gorgias pricing page; annual billing lowers Basic with AI Agent to $77. My Gorgias AI Agent pricing post covers the AI side.
My take: Pick Gorgias if your Rep AI chats keep ending in "a teammate will follow up" and you want the follow-up handled by AI in the same place. Skip it if all you need is a storefront seller. My Gorgias review and Gorgias alternatives go deeper.
4. Tidio
Best for: smaller stores that want live chat, an AI agent and a light inbox from one vendor, priced by conversations.

Tidio is the most-reviewed tool here, with 4.8 from 1,355 reviews on its Shopify listing. ChatGPT picked it for smaller stores, with a caution worth repeating: check the separate AI allowance and which Shopify actions Lyro can take. Its AI agent, Lyro, answers from your content, handles size questions like the one above, and passes to live chat. The pricing page says customers "average a 75% resolution rate with Lyro", which is Tidio's own figure.
What it does that Rep AI doesn't
- A real free plan with an inbox. Live chat, ticketing and social channels are free, with 50 one-time Lyro conversations to try.
- It bills on conversations. Traffic spikes don't move the bill, only chats do.
- Lyro can work outside Tidio. The "Lyro AI Agent only" option adds the AI to Zendesk, Salesforce or another helpdesk.
Where it falls short
- The helpdesk, Flows and Lyro are priced on separate sliders, so the total takes some calculator work.
- Proactive selling is built by hand in Flows rather than learned from shopper behavior.
- The 50% Lyro resolution guarantee is on the Plus plan, which starts at $300 a month plus usage.
Pricing

| Plan | Monthly | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 50 billable conversations, 50 one-time Lyro conversations |
| Starter | $29 ($24.17 billed yearly) | 100 billable conversations |
| Growth | From $49.17 billed yearly | From 250 billable conversations |
| Plus | From $300 plus usage | From 3,000 Lyro conversations, guaranteed 50% Lyro resolution rate |
| Lyro AI Chatbot (Shopify listing) | $39 | Up to 200 Lyro conversations, native Shopify actions |
Prices are from the Tidio pricing page and its Shopify listing. My Tidio AI pricing post explains each step.
My take: Pick Tidio if you're a smaller store and Rep AI's session pricing outgrew your chat volume. Skip it if hesitation-based selling is what you bought Rep AI for. My Tidio review, Gorgias vs Tidio and Tidio alternatives cover the field.
5. Re:amaze
Best for: teams of two to five who want email, chat, social, SMS and voice in one affordable inbox, with AI on top.

Re:amaze is a GoDaddy-owned helpdesk with 4.4 from 181 reviews on its Shopify listing. ChatGPT picked it for small teams that want live chat, email and social in one place. Its listing says agents can "manage, modify, and create Shopify orders directly in customer support and chats", and the Re:amaze AI page adds suggested replies, translation and summaries.
What it does that Rep AI doesn't
- Every channel in one inbox. Email, chat, social, SMS and voice, plus an FAQ center and status page.
- Order work in the conversation. Your team edits or creates Shopify orders without leaving the chat.
- Some proactive selling stays. Cues, its proactive messages, are on every plan, and its chatbots include an Order Bot.
Where it falls short
- Per-seat pricing, and the AI Agent includes only 5 to 20 resolutions per user a month before $0.85 each.
- Order changes are done by your agents; the AI itself is knowledge-led.
- It doesn't watch shopper behavior or learn your catalog for discovery the way Rep AI does.
Pricing

| Plan | Per user, monthly | Billed yearly | AI Agent resolutions included | Extra resolution |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | $29 | $26.10 | 5 per user | $0.85 |
| Pro | $49 | $44.10 | 10 per user | $0.85 |
| Plus | $69 | $62.10 | 20 per user | $0.85 |
| Starter | $59 flat | n/a | Basic features, unlimited team members, 500 responded conversations | n/a |
Prices are from the Re:amaze pricing page. My Re:amaze pricing post covers the add-ons.
My take: Pick Re:amaze if Rep AI's beta omnichannel add-on is why you're looking and you have a small team to staff a shared inbox. Skip it if you want the AI itself to sell or change orders. My Re:amaze review and Re:amaze AI alternatives cover the rest.
6. Richpanel
Best for: DTC brands whose tickets are mostly post-purchase changes, who want the AI to make them at the lowest cost per resolution.

Richpanel is an AI-first Shopify helpdesk with 4.9 from 137 reviews on its Shopify listing. ChatGPT picked it for automating WISMO, returns, exchanges and refunds at DTC volume. Its AI agents page puts it in two words: "It acts." Tracking, address edits, exchanges, store credit, subscription skips and pauses, cancellations and returns run against Shopify, Recharge, Loop and Skio.
What it does that Rep AI doesn't
- A wider set of order actions. Rep AI Support covers cancels, address changes and returns; Richpanel adds exchanges, store credit and subscription changes.
- A permission per action. The AI agents page says "Lookups run on their own. A refund waits for approval."
- One meter for the AI. A conversation the AI resolves is $0.20 and isn't billed again as a ticket, with a $200 monthly minimum.
Where it falls short
- Seat pricing on top of the AI meter, on yearly contracts.
- It's a helpdesk migration, so you'd move off Gorgias or Zendesk.
- Storefront selling isn't its job, so pair it with a seller if Rep AI's sales side matters to you.
"I love the efficiency through automation and AI that Richpanel provides. The improved organization and analytics for the team compared to our previous platform is a big plus."
Pricing

| Plan | Per agent, billed yearly (pricing page) | Yearly total | AI resolutions | Notable inclusions |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pro | $69 | $828 (list $1,068) | $0.20 each, $200 minimum | Self-service portal, automations |
| Pro Max | $99 | $1,188 (list $1,428) | $0.20 each, $200 minimum | Multiple brands, advanced analytics, more channels |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom | Custom | Teams of 50+ agents, white glove setup |
The two Richpanel pages don't match on seats. The pricing page shows Pro at $69 per agent on annual billing and says all subscriptions are yearly contracts, while the AI agents page quotes $99 per human seat annually, $119 billed monthly and $129 on demand. Get the seat price in writing on your quote. My Richpanel pricing post covers the contract terms.
My take: Pick Richpanel if your Rep AI Support plan isn't resolving enough "change my order" tickets and you're open to moving helpdesks. Skip it if product discovery is the job. See Richpanel alternatives for the wider field.
7. eesel
Best for: stores happy with how Rep AI sells, whose Gorgias, Zendesk or Freshdesk queue is where the hours go.
eesel is an AI helpdesk teammate. It joins your Shopify store and the helpdesk you already use, such as Gorgias, Zendesk or Freshdesk, and works the queue like a new hire.
It learns your products, policies and past tickets, checks the order before it answers, and passes anything about money to a person. On the storefront, the chat bubble answers from the same knowledge.
What it does that Rep AI doesn't
- It answers the tickets Rep AI hands off. Rep AI passes chats to Gorgias or Zendesk with the shopper's email; eesel works those tickets. Question Beauty lets it reply directly in Gorgias across Messenger, email and chat, and in a month it looked up about 290 Shopify orders before answering.
- It can draft instead of send. SaunaSpace, which makes infrared saunas, has eesel draft beside every Gorgias ticket: about 180 draft replies in a month, answered from about 1,550 pages, articles and past tickets, so the team sends in one voice.
- One teammate per brand. Nordbutiker runs a bot for each of its four brands across Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland, each trained on its own store's site and Zendesk tickets, in Zendesk and the website chat bubble.
- It's priced on work, not traffic. A ticket or chat is 1 credit however long it runs, with unlimited agents and seats.
Where it falls short
- It isn't a proactive storefront salesperson. Rep AI's behavior-based approach and product finder are real strengths, and eesel doesn't replace them.
- In the customer setups above, refunds, returns and complaints go to a person with a note. If you want the AI to issue refunds itself, Richpanel or Gorgias go further.
- A credit is spent on every ticket or chat it works, including ones it hands off.
Pricing
| Plan | Monthly | Credits | Extra credits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 100 to try | n/a |
| Teammate | $299 | 500 | $0.80 each, with a cap you set |
| Teammate | $499 | 1,000 | $0.80 each |
| Teammate | $849 | 2,000 | $0.80 each |
| Teammate | $1,749 | 5,000 | $0.80 each |
Prices are from the eesel pricing page, with EU or US data residency.
My take: Pick eesel if Rep AI sells well but email, DMs and order questions pile up in your helpdesk. It sits next to Rep AI rather than replacing it. My guide to the best AI helpdesk for Shopify compares it with the other helpdesk-side tools, and AI for Gorgias covers the Gorgias setup.
How to test a Rep AI alternative on 20 real questions
Every vendor here quotes a big number on its own page: Rep AI "97% questions answered", Manifest "98% ticket resolution", Tidio "75% resolution rate". The number worth trusting is what a tool does with your customers' questions.

One trial readout at eesel taught me more than any demo. It was a German jewelry brand on Zendesk and Shopify, about 1,000 tickets a month in eight languages. On real traffic, the AI sorted tickets correctly 93% of the time and caught every spam message, which was 22% of the inbox. Its drafts pointed the right way 88% of the time, yet agents sent only 12% as written, and 7% contained a factual error. Most rewrites were about length and tone, not facts. That's the kind of detail a demo never shows you, and a 20-question test will.
- Pull 20 real questions from Rep AI's conversation log. Four each from product and variant questions, shipping and stock, where is my order with a real order number, returns and refunds, and questions your store has no answer to.
- Run every tool on the same 20. Richpanel tests on recent tickets, Rep AI has a Test and Train page, and eesel simulates on your past tickets.
- Score each answer in one of three columns. Did the AI do the task (look up the order, start the return), only explain it, or hand off with the context written down? ChatGPT's own advice was to check whether the AI "can execute an authorized Shopify action or merely explain it".
- Check the no-answer questions hardest. A confident wrong answer costs more than a clean handoff, which is the complaint in Rep AI's critical reviews.
- Measure sales lift your own way. Rep AI counts a sale when its AI judges the chat helped, per its attribution model. Compare conversion for four weeks before and after any switch, as in my chatbot ROI guide.
Then start the winner in draft or shadow review before it touches anything you can't undo. My guide to switching AI support vendors covers the cutover, and the Zendesk Shopify integration guide covers wiring order data into Zendesk if that's your helpdesk.
Try eesel behind Rep AI
If Rep AI sells well on your storefront, keep it. If the hours are going into the Gorgias, Zendesk or Freshdesk queue it hands off to, eesel is the AI helpdesk teammate I'd point you to: it checks the Shopify order before it replies or drafts, answers email and DMs in the same place, and hands refunds to your team with the context already written. Unlike Rep AI, it doesn't bill you for visitors who never write in.

Question Beauty runs exactly that on Gorgias and Shopify, replying in the language each customer wrote in. Run eesel on your past tickets first and see what it would have said. You get 100 credits free, no card needed. Try eesel on your own Shopify tickets.
Frequently Asked Questions
What are the best Rep AI alternatives for a Shopify store?
For the selling job, Manifest AI and the free Shopify Inbox are the closest swaps. For support, Gorgias, Tidio, Re:amaze and Richpanel bring a helpdesk with AI, and eesel is an AI teammate for the helpdesk you already run. My Rep AI review covers what you'd be replacing.
Is there a free alternative to Rep AI?
Yes. Shopify Inbox is free and includes an AI sales associate that learns your catalog and policies. Tidio also has a free plan with live chat and 50 one-time Lyro AI conversations. Neither changes orders on its own. My guide to Shopify Inbox covers the limits.
Why is Rep AI expensive for high-traffic stores?
Rep AI prices by monthly website sessions, not by chats. AI Sales is $104 a month at 10,000 sessions and $578 at 80,000, whether shoppers open the chat or not. Tools that bill per conversation or per resolution can cost less when traffic is high and chat volume is low. My guide to chatbot cost compares the billing units.
Which Rep AI alternative is best for order changes and returns?
Richpanel and Gorgias are the strongest here. Richpanel's AI edits addresses, swaps items and cancels orders at $0.20 per AI resolution, and Gorgias lists cancel and discount actions from its Basic plan. My post on AI and refunds covers the guardrails.
Can I keep Rep AI and add a support tool next to it?
Yes, and it often makes sense. Rep AI already hands chats to Gorgias and Zendesk, so a helpdesk-side tool like eesel can answer the email and DM queue while Rep AI keeps selling on the storefront. My list of Shopify support AI covers both sides.
Which Rep AI alternative is best for proactive product recommendations?
Manifest AI is the closest match on selling: catalog-based recommendations, quizzes, nudges and A/B tests for placements. Shopify Inbox does basic product help for free, and Gorgias has an AI Shopping Assistant on top of its helpdesk. My roundup of Shopify chatbot apps lists more sales-first options.
How do I test a Rep AI alternative before switching?
Pick 20 real customer questions across product and variant questions, shipping and stock, order status, returns and one question with no answer. Run every tool on the same set and score whether it does the task, only explains it, or hands off with context. My guide to testing an AI agent has the full checklist.
