Why Shopify stores look for Willdesk alternatives
Willdesk has a lot going for it. Its Shopify listing holds 4.7 stars from 380 reviews, every plan has unlimited agent seats, and the paid plans start at $16.90 a month for 100 conversations. Reviewers name its support reps again and again, and the mobile app gets real praise.
"Being able to manage conversations, reply to customers, and monitor support while away from the desk has been incredibly helpful for our operations team."
The reasons people leave are specific, and most of them show up once AI is switched on or the store grows.
- The AI fee covers the whole quota. Willdesk's AI pricing doc charges "$0.20 per conversation quota after AI activation." On the Pro 1,000 plan that is $89.90 plus $200, or $289.90 a month, even if the AI only answers a third of those conversations.
- AI fees aren't on the App Store pricing cards. One 3-star reviewer put it plainly, and the same review says the order panel shows few products and no variants.
- The AI asks, then hands off. Willdesk's AI Action templates cover order tracking, address changes, cancellations and returns, but for the last three the AI collects the details and passes the ticket to your team with a note.
- Some admin gaps. A 1-star reviewer flagged that staff can't edit macros, notes are short, and there was no way to export conversations.
"AI is mentioned everywhere in the app store page but you need to pay extra fees which are not disclosed on the app store page, so you might not find this out until after you have invested time evaluating the product."

There's also a trial wrinkle: the App Store listing shows a 7-day trial on paid plans, while the FAQ on the Willdesk pricing page says there is no trial for any paid plan. My Willdesk pricing post has every tier, and the Willdesk review covers the product in depth.
Willdesk alternatives at a glance
Here is every alternative against Willdesk on the dimensions that decide a switch. "AI order actions" means what the AI itself can do in Shopify, not what a human agent can do from the sidebar.
| Tool | Best for | Replaces | Starting price | Free plan | AI billing unit | AI order actions in Shopify | Channels | Seats | Security listed | Mobile app | Shopify rating | Migration in |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|

| Gorgias | Most Shopify stores | All three jobs | $10/mo | No, 7-day trial | $0.85 to $1.00 per automated interaction, plus the ticket | Cancel, edit address, remove or replace item, reship, add note | Email, chat, SMS, voice, social, WhatsApp via add-on | 3 on Starter, then up to 500 | SOC 2 Type II, HIPAA, GDPR | Yes | 4.3 (706) | Native from Zendesk, others via email or third party |

| Re:amaze | Multi-store teams on a budget | All three jobs | $29/seat/mo or $59 flat | No, 14-day trial | $0.85 per resolution after 5 to 20 per seat | Answers from store data; refunds and cancels by agents | Email, chat, social, SMS and voice on Pro, WhatsApp via Twilio | Per seat, or unlimited on Starter | GDPR (DPA) | Yes | 4.4 (181) | Paid third-party service |
| Tidio | Chat plus AI on the storefront | Chat and AI, lighter inbox | $29/mo | Yes, 50 conversations | Prepaid Lyro conversations, from $39 for 50 | Order status, stock, discount codes | Chat, email, Messenger, Instagram, WhatsApp | Up to 10 self-serve | SOC 2, GDPR | Yes | 4.8 (1,355) | Gorgias tickets for Tidio+ only |
| Commslayer | Lowest total cost | All three jobs | $39/mo | Yes, 300 conversations | AI messages included, $0.075 extra | Cancel, refund, edit items, change shipping, hold fulfillment | Email, chat, WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, TikTok comments, voice | Unlimited | None published | Not found | 4.9 (237) | Free importers from 8 helpdesks |
| Crisp | Flat price, many channels | Chat and AI, lighter inbox | $45/mo per workspace | Yes, 2 seats, no AI | AI credits, about $0.05 per conversation | Order details, customer address, update shipping address | 12 channels incl. WhatsApp, Instagram, SMS, phone | 2 to 20+ per workspace | GDPR, no SOC 2 audit | Yes | 4.0 (34) | Not documented |
| Zendesk | Larger teams with process | All three jobs | $55/agent/mo (Suite Team, annual) | No, 14-day trial | $1.50 to $2.00 per automated resolution | Refunds and cancels by agents; AI actions built by you | Email, chat, voice, SMS, social, WhatsApp | Per agent | SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, HIPAA | Yes | 3.2 (94) | Third-party migration app |
| eesel (bonus) | AI teammate on the new helpdesk | AI agent only | $299/mo, 500 credits | 100 free credits | 1 credit per ticket or chat | Look up, refund, cancel, edit address, create return | Your helpdesk, chat bubble, Slack, email | Unlimited | GDPR, SOC 2 Type II in progress | n/a | n/a | Learns from past tickets in your helpdesk |
The split that matters most is in the "Replaces" column. Five tools take over all three of Willdesk's jobs. Two are chat-first, so they cover the widget and the AI well but give you a lighter ticketing inbox. eesel replaces only the AI part and needs a helpdesk underneath.

How I compared these tools
I started from what Willdesk does for a Shopify store and asked the same four questions of every tool:
- Which of the three jobs does it replace? A full replacement means you can cancel Willdesk the same week. A partial one means you'll still need an inbox or a chat widget from somewhere.
- What does the AI bill for? Per conversation, per automated interaction, per resolution, per AI message or per credit. These are different meters, and the gap between deflection and resolution changes the bill.
- What can the AI do in Shopify by itself? Looking up an order is table stakes. Cancelling, refunding and editing an address without a person is where tools split.
- How do you get your data in? Willdesk isn't on any importer list I found, so the migration story of each tool matters.
Shopify App Store ratings are from each listing on 21 October 2026. Ratings are useful but vendor-hosted, so I weigh them below the docs.
What switching from Willdesk costs at your volume
The billing units are hard to compare in your head, so here is a calculator. Put in your monthly conversations, your agents and the share you expect the AI to handle alone. At 1,000 conversations, 3 agents and 40% AI, Willdesk comes to $289.90, Crisp about $60, Commslayer $69, Richpanel $407 (annual), Re:amaze $414.25, Tidio $479, Gorgias $703 and Zendesk $977.
Plug in your own volume to see each tool's monthly bill next to Willdesk's, using list prices from each vendor's pricing page.
The pattern holds at most volumes. Willdesk's base plans are cheap, but its AI fee scales with the whole quota. Tools that bill only for AI-handled work (Richpanel, Commslayer, Crisp) pull ahead as the AI share grows, and tools that add an AI fee on top of a per-ticket or per-seat price (Gorgias, Zendesk) cost the most for the same work.

One caution before you chase the cheapest bar: a low price per AI conversation only pays off if the AI gets the answer right. The chatbot cost guide goes deeper on why the meter and the accuracy have to be read together.
1. Gorgias
Best for: Shopify stores that want the most common helpdesk in ecommerce, with mature order tools.

Gorgias is the default answer when a Shopify store outgrows a budget helpdesk, and its Shopify listing carries 4.3 stars from 706 reviews. It bills per ticket, not per agent, which suits teams with many part-time helpers.
What it replaces from Willdesk
All three jobs. Email, live chat, SMS, voice and social land in one inbox, with a help center and contact form. Agents can edit, refund and cancel orders from the ticket. WhatsApp runs on a Gorgias number and needs the Voice or SMS add-on.
AI and Shopify order actions
Gorgias AI Agent can cancel unfulfilled orders, edit the shipping address, remove or replace an item, reship a lost order and add an order note. One limit to know: those changes happen in Shopify only and don't reach your 3PL or fulfillment app. Brand voice and Actions aren't on the Starter plan.
Pricing
| Plan | Monthly | Annual (per month) | Tickets/month | Overage | AI Agent rate |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $10 | n/a | 50 | $0.40/ticket | $1.00 |
| Basic | $60 | $50 | 300 | $40 per 100 | $0.90 |
| Pro | $360 | $300 | 2,000 | $36 per 100 | $0.90 |
| Advanced | $900 | $750 | 5,000 | $36 per 100 | $0.85 |
Per the billing doc, an interaction counts as automated when the customer doesn't need a human within 72 hours, and you pay both the ticket fee and the automation fee when the AI resolves it. My Gorgias pricing guide does the math by plan.
Pros and cons
- Pro: deepest Shopify order tooling in this list, for agents and AI.
- Pro: SOC 2 Type II and HIPAA, iOS and Android apps, 150+ integrations.
- Con: two meters on AI-resolved tickets, so AI makes the bill bigger, not smaller.
- Con: no free plan, and only 3 seats on Starter.
"While the AI is not always fully accurate yet due to occasional hallucinations, we're hopeful ongoing improvements will help it provide accurate and helpful support the vast majority of the time."
My take: Pick Gorgias if you want the tool most Shopify support hires already know, and budget for AI as an extra cost on top of tickets. Skip it if you are leaving Willdesk mainly to cut cost. My roundup of Gorgias alternatives covers the trade-offs.
2. Richpanel
Best for: Brands that want the AI itself to run order changes, and can sign an annual contract.

Richpanel says on its about page that it was founded in 2020, is backed by Sequoia and is used by more than 3,000 businesses. It has no current Shopify App Store listing, so the App Store rating column is empty, but it holds 4.7 from 94 reviews on G2.
What it replaces from Willdesk
All three jobs. Email, chat, SMS, WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook and TikTok sit in one inbox (WhatsApp, phone and SMS are Pro Max and up), with a self-service portal. Voice comes through Aircall, Dialpad or JustCall.
AI and Shopify order actions
This is where Richpanel stands out. Its AI agents page says tracking, address edits, exchanges, store credit, subscription skips, cancellations and returns run against Shopify, Recharge, Loop and Skio, and each action carries its own permission, so a lookup runs alone while a refund waits for approval. One older feature table on the pricing page still marks some self-service flows "Coming Soon," so confirm the exact actions in a demo.
Pricing
| Item | Price |
|---|---|
| Pro | $69 per agent/month, billed annually |
| Pro Max | $99 per agent/month, billed annually |
| Enterprise | Custom, 10-seat minimum |
| Customer Service AI | $0.20 per AI resolution, $200/month minimum |
| AI setup (optional) | $2,000 one-time, refund if under 50% automation in 30 days |
The newer AI agents page quotes $99 per seat annual and $119 monthly, so check which model your quote uses. A resolved conversation isn't billed again as a ticket. Details are in my Richpanel pricing post.
Pros and cons
- Pro: one AI meter at $0.20, the same rate as Willdesk but only on resolved work.
- Pro: free migration, and an offer to buy out up to 100% of your current helpdesk contract.
- Con: yearly contracts and per-agent pricing, a big step up from Willdesk's unlimited seats.
- Con: no Shopify App Store listing to install from or read reviews on.
"I love the efficiency through automation and AI that Richpanel provides. The improved organization and analytics for the team compared to our previous platform is a big plus."
My take: Richpanel is the pick when the AI's job is changing orders, not just answering, and you have the volume to justify per-agent annual pricing. Small teams leaving Willdesk for cost will find it heavy. See Richpanel alternatives for the wider field.
3. Re:amaze
Best for: Small teams running several Shopify stores who want a full helpdesk without Gorgias pricing.

Re:amaze is owned by GoDaddy and rated 4.4 from 181 reviews on its Shopify listing. Its Pro plan adds unlimited brands, so one inbox can serve several stores.
What it replaces from Willdesk
All three jobs. Email, live chat, Facebook, Instagram, an FAQ help center and chatbots come on every plan; SMS and voice start on Pro; WhatsApp connects through Twilio. Agents can view orders, refund, cancel and create draft orders inside the conversation, per its Shopify integration.
AI and Shopify order actions
Re:amaze AI Agent answers from your help center, templates and connected store data, and an Order Bot handles status questions on every plan. I didn't find a documented action that lets the AI refund or cancel by itself, so those stay with your agents.
Pricing
| Plan | Monthly | Annual (per month) | AI resolutions included |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | $29 per user | $26.10 | 5 per user |
| Pro | $49 per user | $44.10 | 10 per user |
| Plus | $69 per user | $62.10 | 20 per user |
| Starter | $59 flat, unlimited users | n/a | Not stated |
Past the included amount, each AI resolution is $0.85, and a resolution counts only when the AI handles the thread with no escalation, per the billing doc. Starter caps you at 500 responded conversations, with extra packs of 100 for $15. More in my Re:amaze pricing breakdown.
Pros and cons
- Pro: unlimited brands on Pro, where Willdesk caps you at 3 stores below its Pro plans.
- Pro: you only pay for resolutions the AI fully closes.
- Con: per-seat pricing, unless you fit inside Starter's 500 conversations.
- Con: no SOC 2 claim on its pages, and migration runs through a paid third-party service.
"I can definitively say this is probably the overall best option I have managed a team on, with a rich blend of features for the price."
My take: Re:amaze is a fair middle ground for a team of two to five running more than one store. If you want AI that changes orders by itself, look at Richpanel or Commslayer instead.
4. Tidio
Best for: Stores where the live chat widget and AI on the storefront matter more than the ticket inbox.

Tidio is the most-reviewed tool here, with 4.8 stars from 1,355 reviews on its Shopify listing. It sells three separately metered products: the helpdesk, the Lyro AI Agent and Flows automations.
What it replaces from Willdesk
The chat widget and the AI fully, and the inbox partly. You get live chat, email, Messenger, Instagram, WhatsApp and a help center, with up to 10 agents on self-serve plans. There is no SMS or voice channel, and the inbox is built around chat rather than ticket queues.
AI and Shopify order actions
Lyro checks order status and product availability, sends discount codes and recommends in-stock products, per Tidio for Shopify. Agents can cancel, refund and change addresses from the inbox. Lyro's default handoff guidance sends refund and cancel requests to a person.
Pricing
| Plan | Monthly | Billable conversations |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 50 |
| Starter | $29 | 100 |
| Growth | $59 to $349 | 250 to 2,000 |
| Plus | From $300 plus usage | Custom |
Lyro is bought as a prepaid monthly quota, from $39 for 50 conversations to $700 for 1,000, on top of the plan. The good news on the Tidio pricing page: conversations Lyro handles alone don't count as billable helpdesk conversations. The free 50 Lyro conversations are one-time. My Tidio AI pricing post covers the add-on.
Pros and cons
- Pro: free plan and a very polished chat widget with sales features.
- Pro: SOC 2 report and GDPR compliance.
- Con: Lyro is prepaid, so unused conversations don't carry over.
- Con: lighter ticketing, and moving tickets in from Gorgias is a Tidio+ service only.
"There is still room for improvement, particularly in making AI responses more flexible and improving customization options for automation."
My take: Tidio fits if most of your Willdesk work happens in the chat bubble and you sell from it. If email tickets are the bulk of your queue, a full helpdesk will serve you better. My Tidio alternatives post helps decide.
5. Commslayer
Best for: Cost-conscious Shopify stores that want a full helpdesk with AI included in the plan.

Commslayer is the newest tool here, launched on Shopify in January 2024, and already holds 4.9 stars from 237 reviews on its Shopify listing. It's built by the ex-Lifetimely founders and says 3,000+ Shopify stores run their support on it.
What it replaces from Willdesk
All three jobs, and it shares Willdesk's unlimited-agents model. Email, live chat, WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger DMs and comments, TikTok comments and browser voice (paid plans) come into one inbox. It is Shopify only, with no Amazon or Etsy channels.
AI and Shopify order actions
Per its pricing page, the AI agent can cancel orders, edit items, change shipping, hold fulfillment, issue refunds and tag orders directly in Shopify, and each action can be switched on or off. Customers can also edit their own orders in chat and on the thank-you page on Plus and up. Return apps like Redo and Route aren't integrated yet.
Pricing
| Plan | Monthly | Conversations | AI agent messages |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 300 | 300 |
| Plus | $39 to $199 | 800 to 4,000 | 1,600 to 8,000 |
| Scale | $299 to $2,999 | 6,000 to 60,000 | 12,000 to 90,000 |
| Enterprise | Custom | 60,000+ | Custom |
A billable conversation is one you reply to at least once, and social comments are free. Extra conversations are $0.15 and extra AI messages $0.075, up to a spending cap you set. Lookups don't count as AI messages, and Commslayer estimates about $0.05 per AI resolution. Plans are month to month.
Pros and cons
- Pro: AI included in every plan, with no per-resolution fee.
- Pro: free importers from Gorgias, Zendesk, Re:amaze, Richpanel, Front, Help Scout, Freshdesk and Kustomer.
- Con: no security certifications or mobile app published on its pages.
- Con: younger product, and some reviewers miss helpdesk basics.
"Decent CS platform. Gets the job done if you just want a shared inbox at a reasonable price. Taking 2 stars off because the AI agent - which was a big selling point - is VERY weak"
My take: Commslayer is the closest match to what Willdesk promises, at a lower price once AI is on. Test the AI on your own conversations before you commit, since reviews on its accuracy are mixed. My Commslayer review and Commslayer alternatives go deeper.
6. Crisp
Best for: Teams that want many channels for one flat monthly price.

Crisp prices per workspace, not per seat, which makes it the closest cousin to Willdesk's unlimited-seats deal. Its Shopify listing is small, with 4.0 stars from 34 reviews.
What it replaces from Willdesk
The chat widget and AI fully, and the inbox partly. Crisp connects 12 channels, including email, WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, SMS and phone. Ticketing and a customer portal come on the Plus plan, and iOS and Android apps are free.
AI and Shopify order actions
Its Hugo AI agent has three Shopify tools, per the Crisp Shopify guide: get order details, get the customer's address and update the shipping address while the order can still change. Refunds stay with your team in the inbox.
Pricing
| Plan | Monthly per workspace | Seats | AI credits included |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 2 | None |
| Mini | $45 | 4 | $5, about 90 conversations |
| Essentials | $95 | 10 | $25, about 450 conversations |
| Plus | $295 | 20+ ($10 per extra) | $75, about 1,350 conversations |
AI usage beyond the included credits is pay as you go, and Crisp's Hugo calculator estimates $0.05 per conversation. Every plan has a 14-day trial. My Crisp pricing post has the full detail.
Pros and cons
- Pro: flat pricing and the widest channel list here.
- Pro: lowest AI cost per conversation on paper.
- Con: Crisp says it "hasn't been over any SOC2 audit."
- Con: no documented import from another helpdesk, and ticketing only on Plus.
"I would definitely recommend Crisp. We bought a new ecommerce website and put it on shopify. Crisp was a go-to for our support team because it lets you handle tickets super easily, very user friendly and AI is just the cherry on the cake."
My take: Crisp suits a small team that lives in chat and social DMs and wants a predictable bill. If your queue is mostly email tickets about orders, the lighter inbox and three Shopify tools will feel thin.
7. Zendesk
Best for: Larger support teams with routing rules, SLAs and more than one department.

Zendesk is the enterprise option. Its Shopify listing sits at 3.2 stars from 94 reviews, and it still shows older plan prices, so go by the Zendesk pricing page.
What it replaces from Willdesk
All three jobs, at a different scale. Suite plans add AI agents, messaging and live chat, telephony, an AI knowledge base and omnichannel routing on top of email ticketing. The Shopify sidebar app lets agents process refunds and cancellations from the ticket, per the Shopify integration doc.
AI and Shopify order actions
Zendesk AI agents can call outside systems through the integration builder, so you can build Shopify actions yourself. I didn't find a ready-made Shopify action set for the AI on the pages I read, which means more setup than Gorgias or Commslayer.
Pricing
| Plan | Annual (per agent/month) | Monthly (per agent/month) |
|---|---|---|
| Support Team | $19 | $25 |
| Suite Team | $55 | $69 |
| Suite Professional | $115 | $149 |
| Suite Enterprise | Talk to sales | Talk to sales |
AI agents bill by automated resolution: $1.50 committed or $2.00 pay-as-you-go, with 5 to 15 included per agent each month. Copilot for agents is another $50 per agent. My Zendesk pricing post breaks it down.
Pros and cons
- Pro: SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001:2022 and HIPAA, plus 1,000+ apps.
- Pro: routing, SLAs and reporting that bigger teams need.
- Con: the most expensive AI meter in this list.
- Con: more setup for Shopify than the ecommerce-first tools.
"The product itself looks extremely capable once configured, but for a small business I simply cannot justify spending this much time trying to get a standard, officially supported Shopify integration working."
My take: Zendesk makes sense if your store is one part of a bigger support operation. For a Shopify team of under ten, it is more tool and more cost than the move from Willdesk needs. The Zendesk Shopify integration guide shows the setup.
Bonus: eesel, the AI teammate for your new helpdesk
Best for: Stores moving to Gorgias, Zendesk, Freshdesk or Re:amaze that want AI answers grounded in real orders and their own past replies.
I'll be straight about the fit: eesel doesn't integrate with Willdesk, and it isn't a helpdesk. It is an AI helpdesk teammate you hire into the helpdesk you move to, so it replaces only Willdesk's AI job. I work on how eesel's agent reads a ticket and decides what to look up, so I'll describe it by what it does rather than what it promises.
What it replaces from Willdesk
The AI agent. eesel works inside Gorgias, Zendesk and Freshdesk, and on Re:amaze on a schedule. It can also run a chat bubble on your store that hands over to your helpdesk with a summary.
AI and Shopify order actions
Through the Shopify integration, eesel looks up orders by number or email, checks tracking, and can refund, cancel unfulfilled orders, edit addresses and create returns. You can require a person to approve any action. Unlike most tools here, it also learns from your past tickets, so answers sound like your team. The guide to training on past tickets explains how.
Pricing
| Plan | Price | Credits |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 100 credits to try |
| Teammate | $299/month | 500 |
| Teammate | $499/month | 1,000 |
| Teammate | $1,749/month | 5,000 |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom |
A ticket or a chat is one credit, however many replies and order lookups it takes, with unlimited seats. Extra credits are $0.80 each up to a cap you set. Full detail on the eesel pricing page.
Pros and cons
- Pro: one credit per ticket covers every lookup and action inside it.
- Pro: keeps working if you change helpdesks again later.
- Con: you still need a helpdesk, so it doesn't replace Willdesk on its own.
- Con: SOC 2 Type II is still in progress.
My take: eesel is the add-on, not the swap. It earns its place once you've picked Gorgias or Zendesk and want the AI to answer from Shopify data and your team's own history. STIL Classics runs it on Gorgias, where it looked up about 230 Shopify orders in a month before drafting replies for the team to send.
What to test before you leave Willdesk
Most switching pain comes from finding a gap after you've cancelled. Run the shortlist through these checks first, ideally on 20 to 30 real Willdesk conversations sent to each tool.
- Order lookup. Ask "where is my order?" with an order number, then with only an email. The tool should find the order both ways and give real tracking. My WISMO automation guide lists the edge cases.
- Refunds and returns. Decide which changes the AI may make alone and which need approval, then check the tool can hold that line. The post on whether AI can handle refunds covers the guardrails.
- Handoff with context. Ask for a person mid-conversation. The agent who picks it up should see what the customer asked, what the AI found and why it stopped. See AI handoff best practices.
- Total pricing. Add up seats, tickets or conversations, the AI meter, WhatsApp, SMS or voice add-ons and overage. Use the calculator above with your real numbers.
- Migration of conversations. None of the importers I checked lists Willdesk, and one reviewer couldn't find an export at all. Ask Willdesk support for your history before you cancel.
- Customer profiles. Make sure your customer list and tags come across, or that the new tool rebuilds profiles from Shopify.
- Help center articles. Willdesk's help center is where much of its AI knowledge lives. Copy every article into the new tool and check the AI reads it.
"I tried to export my conversation, but there no such option and support freeze me for 2 days already"

The importer lists tell you where each tool expects customers to come from. Commslayer's free importers cover eight helpdesks, Gorgias imports natively from Zendesk and points others to email import or a third party, Re:amaze and Zendesk lean on paid migration services, and Richpanel moves your data and can buy out your remaining contract. My guide to switching helpdesks and the AI agent testing checklist go further.
The safest rollout I've seen copies a pattern from eesel sales calls: start with the AI drafting replies for agents, then let it send on its own once the drafts are right. An ops lead at a DTC supplements brand doing about 7,000 Gorgias tickets a month came to eesel wanting a copilot, then realised they needed an agent that could resolve at least half of their email (order status, subscriptions, basic product questions) by itself. Drafting first is how you find out whether it can.
Which Willdesk alternative should you pick?
Start from why you are leaving, then match it to a tool:
- You want the standard Shopify helpdesk: Gorgias. Budget for the AI fee on top of tickets.
- You want the AI to change orders, not just answer: Richpanel, or Commslayer on a smaller budget.
- You want the lowest bill with AI on: Commslayer, then Crisp if most of your support is chat.
- You run several stores with a small team: Re:amaze Pro, or Gorgias if you need its order tools.
- Your support is mostly the chat widget: Tidio for selling, Crisp for many channels.
- You have routing rules, SLAs and other departments: Zendesk.
Whichever helpdesk you land on, the AI is the part most worth testing hard, because it's the part that answers your customers when nobody is watching. The difference between an AI built into the helpdesk and one you add on top is covered in AI layer vs built-in AI.
For a broader shortlist, see the best AI helpdesk for Shopify roundup.
Try eesel with your new Shopify helpdesk
If you're leaving Willdesk for Gorgias or Zendesk, eesel is the AI teammate that comes with you. It joins the new queue, reads the Shopify order before it writes a word, learns how your team already replies from past tickets, and can hand refunds and judgement calls to a person with a note attached.

Rúngne, a climbing apparel brand, runs three eesel agents on Gorgias and Shopify: one tags every ticket, one leaves draft replies, and one answers plain questions from order and stock data. In one month it worked through about 2,100 Gorgias tickets. You can start with 100 free credits and try eesel on your own tickets.
Frequently Asked Questions
What are the best Willdesk alternatives for a Shopify store?
Gorgias is the safest full replacement for Willdesk's helpdesk, live chat and AI agent. Richpanel suits teams that want the AI to run more order changes, Re:amaze and Commslayer cost less, Tidio and Crisp are chat-first, and Zendesk fits bigger teams. My Willdesk review covers what you'd be replacing.
Is there a cheaper alternative to Willdesk?
Commslayer has a free plan with 300 conversations and AI messages included, and Crisp's Mini plan is $45 a month for four seats. Willdesk itself is cheap until you turn AI on, because the $0.20 AI fee applies to your whole conversation quota. My guide to chatbot cost explains the billing units.
How much does Willdesk cost compared to its alternatives?
Willdesk pricing runs from free (20 conversations) to $629.90 a month for 10,000, plus $0.20 per conversation of quota for AI. At 1,000 conversations with AI on, that is $289.90 a month. Gorgias charges per ticket plus $0.85 to $1.00 per automated interaction, and Zendesk $1.50 to $2.00 per automated resolution. See my Willdesk pricing breakdown.
Can I move my conversations out of Willdesk?
None of the helpdesk importers I checked lists Willdesk, so plan on exporting what you can and starting fresh in the new tool. Ask Willdesk support for your conversation history and customer list before you cancel, and copy your help center articles across by hand. My guide to switching helpdesks walks through the rest.
Which Willdesk alternative is best for Shopify order questions?
Commslayer and Richpanel let their AI make the most Shopify changes, including refunds, cancellations and address edits. Gorgias AI Agent can cancel orders, edit addresses and reship. Crisp's Hugo looks up orders and changes the shipping address. eesel looks up the order before it answers. Read more on WISMO automation.
Should I replace Willdesk with Gorgias?
If you want the most common Shopify helpdesk with mature Shopify order tools, yes. Budget for the bill growing on two meters: every ticket, plus $0.85 to $1.00 for each interaction the AI resolves. My Gorgias pricing guide has the full plan table.
