HubSpot Breeze vs Freshdesk Freddy at a glance
I spend a lot of my week looking at what support teams type into search. "HubSpot Breeze vs Freshdesk Freddy" almost never means "which AI is smarter". It means "I'm about to sign a helpdesk contract, which AI agent won't blow up my bill?" So this comparison leads with billing, then features. Every price below comes from the vendors' own pricing pages and docs, checked on October 20, 2026.

| Billing unit | 1 resolution = 50 HubSpot Credits | 1 session (email: 72 hours, chat: 24 hours) |
| List price per unit | $0.50 per resolution | $49 per 100 sessions ($0.49 each) |
| Free allowance | 3,000 credits/month on Professional, 5,000 on Enterprise (shared with other AI features) | 500 sessions, one time only |

What is HubSpot Breeze Customer Agent?
Breeze is HubSpot's umbrella name for its AI, and the support piece is Breeze Customer Agent. It sits inside Service Hub's help desk and answers customers from your knowledge base, website pages, files and CRM data, then hands off to a human when its confidence drops or a handoff rule fires. HubSpot now groups its agents under Agent Hub, so you'll see both names.

Setup is fast. You name the agent, pick a personality (Friendly, Professional, Casual, Empathetic or Witty, or your own brand voice), and point it at existing HubSpot content, per HubSpot's setup guide. From there it can run configured actions such as resetting a password, booking a meeting or checking a Shopify order.
A few things worth knowing before you buy:
- It needs Professional or Enterprise. HubSpot lists Customer Agent on the Professional and Enterprise tiers of every hub, and not on Starter.
- It needs a messaging channel connected. HubSpot's requirements call for at least one Facebook, WhatsApp, or live chat channel in the inbox or help desk before you can publish the agent.
- Multiple brands get multiple agents. If you've set up brands in HubSpot, each one can have its own agent with its own tone and sources.
- HubSpot's own numbers are strong. The product page claims a 70% average resolution rate, with top teams at 90%, and quotes Synergym resolving 85% of its support requests.
What is Freshdesk Freddy AI?
Freddy is Freshworks' AI layer, and on Freshdesk it comes in three parts that are priced separately. That split matters more than any single feature, because it decides which ones you pay for.

- Freddy AI Agent answers customers. You build it in AI Agent Studio, and Freshworks says its ready-made vertical agents ship with 50+ agentic workflows and integrations with Shopify, Stripe, PayPal and FedEx. In plain Freshdesk you get the Email AI Agent; the Chat AI Agent is only in Freshdesk Omni, per the add-ons doc.
- Freddy AI Copilot helps your human agents: drafting replies, summaries, sentiment, live translation in 60+ languages, and similar-ticket suggestions.
- Freddy AI Insights is for admins: proactive alerts with root-cause analysis and conversational reporting.
So "Freddy" on a Freshdesk sales call can mean any of the three. When someone says Freddy is "included", they usually mean the AI Agent with its starter sessions.
How each one bills you
This is the part most comparisons skip, and it's the part that decides your invoice. Both vendors moved to usage pricing, but they meter different events.

HubSpot: you pay per resolution, in credits
HubSpot's rate sheet prices a Customer Agent resolution on a text channel at 50 HubSpot Credits, and extra credits cost $0.010 each. That's the $0.50 per resolution the product page advertises.
What counts as a resolution is specific. Per HubSpot's Customer Agent docs, a conversation is resolved when the agent replied with a content source or performed an action, and there was no qualifying handoff within 72 hours of the visitor's last message. Two details I'd flag to any buyer:
- Only visitor-initiated handoffs stop the meter. If your team manually reassigns a conversation, or a workflow does, that alone doesn't stop it counting as resolved.
- The status freezes at 72 hours. After that, a later human reply or negative feedback doesn't change it. If a customer replies to an email thread after 72 hours, the window resets and a second resolution can be billed.
On the plus side, credits are only consumed when the agent delivers a resolution, testing in preview is free, and reply recommendations inside the help desk don't use credits at all.

The included credits (500 on Starter, 3,000 on Professional, 5,000 on Enterprise) are one shared pool. Per HubSpot's credits guide, they reset monthly, don't roll over, and also pay for AI workflow actions, the Data Agent and others. On Professional, 3,000 credits covers at most 60 resolutions a month if nothing else touches the pool.
One recent change is good news: if you buy extra credits on or after September 16, 2026, the default is pay-as-you-go overage, not an automatic upgrade of your capacity for the rest of the contract. Earlier buyers default to auto-upgrade, and that older setting is behind some painful threads:
"We just activated the Data Agent and immediately received… an invoice: 'Upgrades are applied for the rest of your subscription, and you can only downgrade at renewal on 28 February 2028.'"
If you're on HubSpot, set a feature-level credit limit for Customer Agent before launch. It takes two minutes in Account and Billing and keeps one AI feature from eating the pool the other one needs. You can also switch off Breeze features you don't use.
Freshdesk: you pay per session, in packs of 100
Freshdesk sells Freddy AI Agent capacity in session packs of 100 for $49 on its pricing page. New customers on Growth, Pro or Enterprise get 500 sessions one time to start; Freshworks' sessions FAQ is clear that this isn't a monthly grant, and that buying your first pack removes whatever complimentary sessions are left.

A session is a time window, not an outcome. For the Email AI Agent, a session spans 72 hours from the customer's first email, however many replies go back and forth. For the Chat AI Agent (Omni only), it's 24 hours. Three behaviours to plan around:
- Escalated conversations still count. A session is billed whether Freddy resolves it or hands it to a person.
- Previews count too. Freshworks says previewing an agent while you build it consumes sessions, published or not.
- Auto-recharge kicks in at 50. With online billing, Freddy adds a pack when your balance drops to 50 sessions. Unused sessions expire at the end of the billing cycle.
The upside of sessions is predictability. You know exactly what 1,000 AI conversations cost ($490), with no definitions to argue about. My session consumption guide goes deeper on how they're counted.
What does each one actually cost?
Seats first, then the AI. This is where the two products split hardest, because HubSpot gates its agent behind a higher tier while Freshdesk puts Freddy on the entry plan.

HubSpot Service Hub pricing
From the Service Hub pricing page and HubSpot's product catalog:
| Plan | Price per seat | Included credits | Customer Agent | One-time onboarding |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 (up to 2 users) | None | No | None |
| Starter | $7/month as shown on the pricing page, $20 monthly | 500 | No | None |
| Professional | $90/month annual, $100 monthly | 3,000 | Yes | $1,500 |
| Enterprise | $150/month | 5,000 | Yes | $3,500 |
| Extra credits | $10 per 1,000-credit pack, or $0.010 per credit pay-as-you-go |
Professional also brings the help desk workspace, a knowledge base (one per account, up to 2,000 articles), customer portal and surveys. Enterprise adds skill-based routing, conditional SLAs and capacity limits. My HubSpot pricing post covers the rest of the stack, while the AI agent pricing breakdown goes deeper on credits.
Freshdesk pricing
From the Freshdesk pricing page, billed annually:
| Plan | Price per agent | Freddy AI Agent | Freddy AI Copilot | Freddy AI Insights | Day pass |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Growth | $19/month | First 500 sessions, then $49/100 | Not available | Not listed | $2 |
| Pro | $55/month | First 500 sessions, then $49/100 | $29/agent/month add-on | Not listed | $7 |
| Enterprise | $89/month | First 500 sessions, then $49/100 | $29/agent/month add-on | Included | $12 |
All three plans also list MCP actions at $15 per 1,000 and connector app tasks at $80 per 5,000. If you need the Chat AI Agent or WhatsApp, that's Freshdesk Omni, listed at $29, $79 and $119 per agent per month on the Omni pricing page. One wrinkle: Freshdesk's add-ons doc says buying at least one Copilot license turns on Insights account-wide, so check with sales which applies to your contract.
A worked example
Take a 10-agent team with 1,000 AI-handled conversations a month, and Freddy or Breeze resolving half of them.
- HubSpot Professional: 10 seats is
$900. 500 resolutions is 25,000 credits, minus the 3,000 included, so 22,000 extra credits at$0.010is$220. That's $1,120 a month, plus $1,500 once. - Freshdesk Growth: 10 agents is
$190. 1,000 sessions is 10 packs at$49, so$490. That's $680 a month, or$1,040on Pro, and$1,330on Pro if all 10 agents get Copilot.
Freshdesk wins on the bill. But look at what each dollar of AI buys. HubSpot's cost per resolution never moves. Freddy's does, because you pay for the sessions it didn't resolve:

So the honest takeaway: Freddy is cheaper per seat, HubSpot is cheaper per AI win. If your queue is full of simple, answerable questions, Freddy's session price gets close to HubSpot's. If your agent will be escalating a lot early on, Freddy's effective price per resolution is two to three times HubSpot's.
Plug in your own numbers below. It also shows what eesel would add on top of whichever helpdesk you keep.
Features head to head
Pricing aside, both agents do the core job: answer from your content, take some actions, and hand off. The differences are in where they run and what surrounds them.
| Capability | HubSpot Breeze | Freshdesk Freddy |
|---|---|---|
| Knowledge sources | Knowledge base, website pages, files, CRM data, short answers | Solution articles, web links, files, custom Q&As, workflows |
| Actions | Actions library: custom API requests, update CRM objects, Shopify order checks, lead qualification | 50+ agentic workflows; Shopify, Stripe, PayPal, FedEx, Wix; MCP actions |
| Brand voice | Five personalities or your brand voice; one agent per brand | Adapts to brand tone and style |
| Agent assist | Reply recommendations (free), Breeze Assistant | Copilot: drafts, summaries, sentiment, live translation, auto triage, thank-you detector |
| Coaching | Coaching opportunities flagged by knowledge gap, conflict or action gap | Guidance to close knowledge gaps and strengthen workflows |
| Where it shines | CRM context on every reply; one record across marketing, sales and service | Strong email agent on the cheapest plan; deep copilot toolkit |
Analytics and coaching
HubSpot's agent analytics are the more detailed of the two out of the box. The performance view tracks resolution rate, deflections and human handoffs, flags coaching opportunities by cause, and grades every content source by how often it gets used and how often it resolves.

Freddy AI Agent shows conversations, resolution rate, agent transfer rate and unanswered questions per agent, and the broader Freddy AI Insights adds proactive alerts across every channel. The catch is plan gating: Insights is an Enterprise line item on the pricing page.

Copilot for your human agents
This is Freshdesk's strongest card. Freddy AI Copilot packs a writing assistant, summary generator, reply suggester, sentiment analysis, canned response suggester, auto triage and live translation into one $29 license. HubSpot's agent-side help is lighter but cheaper: Customer Agent can generate reply recommendations inside the help desk without being deployed to customers, and those don't consume credits.

What users say about each
Reviews of both AIs are mixed in the same way: good on simple, well-documented questions, and only as good as the content and data behind them.
On the Freshdesk side, smaller teams tend to like Freddy for what it is:
"Freshdesk Freddy: for early stage teams that want something simple, it covers the basics auto assignment, suggested replies, FAQ deflection. It's reliable and affordable, nothing crazy."
The complaints usually come when tickets get harder:
"We tested an ai integration in freshdesk and had almost the exact same experience. it worked for very simple tickets but anything slightly complex got misclassified. agents ended up spending more time fixing errors than before, so we had to rethink our approach."
HubSpot users make a similar point about Breeze, framed around data quality rather than the model:
"If workflows are poorly named, lifecycle rules are undocumented, properties have unclear meanings, lists are stale… the AI is going to feel shallow because it is working from weak operating context."
And for Service Hub overall, price is the recurring theme on review sites:
"Additionally, pricing has become difficult to justify compared to alternative solutions in the market."

Which one should you pick?
If you're choosing a helpdesk and its AI together, here's how I'd decide.
Pick HubSpot Breeze Customer Agent if your marketing and sales already run on HubSpot, you want the AI to see the full CRM record, and most of your volume is chat or messaging. The flat $0.50 per resolution is the fairest unit in this comparison, and you don't pay for escalations. Budget for the Professional floor and the onboarding fee, set a credit limit on day one, and configure escalation guardrails before you go live.
Pick Freshdesk Freddy if you're an email-first team that wants AI on the cheapest possible plan, or your agents will get more out of Copilot than out of a customer-facing bot. Expect to pay for every session, and start the Freddy AI Agent on a narrow set of topics it can resolve well, so your effective price per resolution stays low.
Skip both if you already run one of these helpdesks and the reason you're comparing is that its built-in AI isn't landing. Switching helpdesks to get a different AI is the most expensive way to solve that. My HubSpot vs Freshdesk comparison helps if the helpdesk itself is the question; if it's only the AI, read on.
A third option: keep your helpdesk, add an AI teammate
I'll be upfront that eesel is the company I work for. eesel has spent years putting AI agents on live support queues, and the lesson that shaped the product is that a confident wrong answer costs more than no answer. That's why every eesel rollout is simulated against your historical tickets before a customer sees a reply.
eesel is an AI helpdesk teammate that joins the queue you already have. It has native integrations for HubSpot, with a matching one for Freshdesk. It learns from your past tickets and help center, and either drafts replies for your team or answers customers directly on the tickets you choose. You don't move helpdesks, and you don't pick between Breeze and Freddy.
Real setups on both helpdesks:
- SamCart on Freshdesk. Separate agents handle Freshdesk email tickets and the website chat bubble, answering from about 280 help center articles. The agent replies only while no teammate is assigned, and steps back the moment a person picks the ticket up.
- MentorShow on HubSpot. eesel reads every HubSpot inbox conversation and ticket, about 1,200 in a month, and wrote 432 reply drafts in French, English or Spanish, whichever the member wrote in.
- Innr on Freshdesk. Every ticket gets a draft in the customer's language with the noise filtered out first: 190 tickets prepared and 180 drafts in a month, from about 1,500 articles and past tickets.
The billing is simpler than either native option. On the eesel pricing page, a ticket or chat is one credit, however long it runs, and spam or tickets you tell it to skip don't count. Plans start at $299 a month for 500 credits and go to $1,749 for 5,000, with a free trial of 100 credits. Unlike a HubSpot resolution, a credit is spent whether or not the ticket resolves, so the price per resolution depends on how well it does on your queue, which is exactly what the simulation shows you before you pay.
It's not the right fit for everyone. If you want a voice agent on your phone line today, HubSpot's Customer Agent voice option or a dedicated voice tool is the better place to look. And one Freshdesk customer, an email-security company, tested Freddy next to eesel this year and told the eesel team eesel's answers were more precise, but if Freddy already resolves most of your simple email at $0.49 a session, there may be nothing to fix.
I compare eesel and Freddy directly in eesel vs Freddy. The HubSpot version is eesel vs Breeze.
Compare more options in my Freddy alternatives roundup. HubSpot users can start with the Breeze alternatives list instead.
Try eesel on HubSpot or Freshdesk
Already on HubSpot or Freshdesk and not sold on the built-in AI? eesel plugs into either one in a few minutes, reads your past tickets and help center, and runs a simulation on your real history so you can see how it would have answered before it touches a live customer.
