What is ConvertWay?

ConvertWay is a Shopify marketing app for WhatsApp, SMS, RCS and email. It recovers abandoned carts, sends order updates and runs campaigns, with chatbots on your website, WhatsApp and Instagram. The Shopify listing names the app "CW: WhatsApp, SMS & AI Chatbot", the developer is Shipway, and the website logo reads "Convertway by Unicommerce".

The website now leads with an AI voice agent that calls shoppers who abandon a checkout or place a cash-on-delivery order. That product has no public price on either page, which matters if you are budgeting: everything below covers the messaging plans only. ConvertWay says 3,000+ Shopify stores use it, and the listing has a 4.5 rating from 241 reviews.

The app is strongest in India, and it shows. The site's FAQ talks about DLT-registered sender IDs and TRAI rules for SMS timing, which are Indian telecom requirements. If you sell mainly in the US or Europe, that is worth knowing before you compare it with WhatsApp tools for ecommerce built for those markets.

How much does ConvertWay cost on the Shopify App Store?

This is the price list most stores will actually pay, because installing from the App Store means Shopify bills you. There are three plans, all priced by subscriber count and feature set, not by user.

ConvertWay's pricing section on the Shopify App Store showing Starter at $49 a month or $468 a year saving 20%, Growth at $99 a month or $1,068 a year saving 10%, and Enterprise at $399 a month or $4,428 a year saving 8%, each with a note that additional charges apply per notification sent, as taken from Shopify App Store

Here is the full ladder, checked on October 21, 2026:

Three details are easy to miss. First, the yearly discount shrinks as you go up: 20% on Starter, 10% on Growth and only 8% on Enterprise. Second, the Enterprise card says "Everything in Starter, plus" rather than "Everything in Growth", though it repeats most Growth features, so I would ask about RFM segmentation before upgrading. Third, the listing says "recurring and usage-based charges are billed every 30 days", in USD, so the message charges land on your Shopify bill alongside the plan.

The listing shows no free plan and no trial length. For context, Zoko and Wati both list 7-day trials, so it is a fair thing to ask ConvertWay for.

How much does ConvertWay cost on its website?

The website tells a different story. theconvertway.com/pricing shows two plans, and both "Get Started" buttons open a demo booking page rather than a checkout.

ConvertWay's website pricing page showing Growth at $149 a month or $1,548 a year at 13% off, and Enterprise at $249 a month or $2,388 a year at 20% off, as taken from ConvertWay

The Growth card says "Everything in Premium Plus", but there is no Premium plan on the page. A banner also says prices changed on April 1, 2025, and lower down the page still carries rows from an unrelated payments template (bank verification APIs and naira fees). None of that is a dealbreaker, but it is why I treat the Shopify listing as the price you will be billed and the website as a starting point for a sales conversation.

Why do the two price lists disagree?

I can't tell you which one ConvertWay considers current, and neither page explains it. What I can tell you is where the gaps land, and they cut both ways.

Hand-drawn bar chart comparing ConvertWay's two price lists per month: on the Shopify App Store, Starter $49, Growth $99 and Enterprise $399; on the ConvertWay website, Growth $149 and Enterprise $249

Enterprise$399 a month, $4,428 a year$249 a month, $2,388 a yearWebsite is $150 a month less

So a Growth store pays less through Shopify, and an Enterprise store pays $2,040 a year less on the website's yearly price. The features differ too. The website counts users and automation flows, and the listing counts neither. The listing names "AI chatbots" on Enterprise, and the website only says "advanced chat-bot flows".

If you are heading for Enterprise, my advice is simple: book the demo, quote the website price, and get the plan, the user count and the message rates in writing before you pay. One merchant review gives a hint that pricing is set in those calls:

Shopify

"He gave us a plan that fit our needs and provided multiple demos to explain every feature, both before and after purchase."

What do the message charges add?

This is the part of ConvertWay pricing the plan cards don't price. Every card says "Additional charges will apply as per the notifications sent", and the rates live inside the app, not on a public page.

Hand-drawn stack of four blocks building a monthly bill: plan fee $49 to $399 at the bottom, then WhatsApp messages at Meta's rate per country, SMS per 160-character unit, and extra users at $10 each on top, with a brace labelled your real monthly bill
Hand-drawn stack of four blocks building a monthly bill: plan fee $49 to $399 at the bottom, then WhatsApp messages at Meta's rate per country, SMS per 160-character unit, and extra users at $10 each on top, with a brace labelled your real monthly bill

Here is what the help center and Meta's own documentation say about each layer.

  • WhatsApp. ConvertWay's WhatsApp FAQ says the cost "is specific to countries", and its setup guide points you to the app's Billing section for the country rates. Underneath, Meta's pricing docs say it has charged per message since July 1, 2025, by message category and country, and only for messages from businesses to users. Customer messages to you are not charged by Meta.
  • SMS. The SMS FAQ bills by the unit: 160 characters for plain text, or 70 if the message uses Unicode, such as an emoji or a non-Latin script. Longer messages split into 153 or 67 character parts, so a 200-character cart reminder costs two units every time it sends.
  • RCS and email. Both are listed as channels from Growth up, under the same "per notification" note. Neither page gives a rate.
  • Users. The website adds $10 a month per extra login past 3 or 4. The Shopify listing does not mention user limits at all.

The practical upshot: a big campaign month can cost more than the plan itself, and you won't know by how much until you open the Billing page after installing. If you are new to how WhatsApp is priced, my WhatsApp API pricing explainer walks through Meta's categories, and the 2026 platform updates cover what changed for campaigns.

One more billing detail came up in the reviews. A merchant who uninstalled in October 2026 said ConvertWay set up a credit line in their Meta business account that would not come off:

Shopify

"They create a credit line in your Whatsapp Account in your Meta Account for your business portfolio and it would refuse to be removed."

That is one store's account of it, but it is worth asking how WhatsApp charges are billed, through ConvertWay or through your own Meta account, before you connect your number.

What does ConvertWay cost for a real store?

Plan names don't tell you much, so here is what three stores would pay on the plan fee alone, before message charges. I used the Shopify listing first, because that is what installing gives you, with the website price beside it.

StoreWhat it needsShopify planShopify costWebsite cost
Small store, 2,000 subscribersCart recovery and order updates on WhatsApp and SMSStarter$49 a month, or $468 a yearNo plan this small shown
Growing brand, 12,000 subscribers, 5 peopleInstagram DM automation, RCS and emailGrowth$99 a month, or $1,068 a year$149 + $20 for 2 extra users = $169 a month
Large brand, 60,000 subscribersAI chatbot on WhatsApp and InstagramEnterprise$399 a month, or $4,428 a year$249 a month, or $2,388 a year

The middle row is where the two price lists cross over. Growth through Shopify is $70 a month cheaper than the website version with two extra users. The bottom row flips it: Enterprise through Shopify costs $150 a month more than the website's own price.

Plug your own numbers in below. It picks the lowest plan on each list for your subscriber count and must-haves, adds the website's extra-user fee, and has an SMS counter so you can see how many billable units your reminder text really is.

Enter your list size and team, toggle what you need, and compare ConvertWay's Shopify and website prices side by side. Message charges are not included because ConvertWay only shows them in the app.

What do merchants say about ConvertWay's pricing and billing?

The rating is strong: 4.5 from 241 reviews, with 85% at five stars. I read 120 of them, and the pricing comments split cleanly. Indian stores sending WhatsApp messages tend to call it cheap and quick to set up:

Shopify

"Sends whatsapp messages cheaply and a lot of conversions are made."

One-star reviews are about 8% of the total. Of the 11 in my sample, 6 are about billing after people tried to leave: trials that were hard to cancel, charges after uninstalling, and slow refunds. The clearest one is from a swimwear store in August 2025:

Shopify

"No option to cancel your trial in platform. Emailed support, who made me email a second email address - and then they never responded."

I would not read too much into a handful of angry reviews on a 241-review app. But the pattern matches the pricing pages: a lot of the deal happens over a demo call and inside the app, so write down what you agreed. If cancelling is a worry, ask before you start how to end a trial, and whether any prepaid message balance is refunded.

How does ConvertWay pricing compare with other WhatsApp apps?

ConvertWay sits in a crowded corner of the Shopify App Store. Here is how its entry price and billing unit compare with the WhatsApp apps stores usually look at next, using each vendor's own pricing page or listing.

Two things stand out. Zoko publishes its message markup on the pricing page, so you can see per-conversation costs before installing, which is more than ConvertWay shows. And Interakt puts its AI agents on a $99 plan, where ConvertWay's listing asks $399 for AI chatbots. My Zoko pricing breakdown and Zoko alternatives list go deeper on the WhatsApp-first apps.

eesel is a different kind of tool in that table. It is not a campaign sender, so it won't replace cart recovery flows. It is an AI teammate that answers customer questions on WhatsApp, your website chat and your helpdesk, and it bills by conversations handled rather than messages sent. For the support side, my best AI for WhatsApp support and best AI for SMS support roundups compare the options.

If you are shopping the wider Shopify chat category, I have pricing breakdowns for Willdesk, Chatway and MooseDesk too.

Is ConvertWay worth the price?

It depends on which job you are hiring it for, and that splits into three lanes.

Pay for Starter if you are a small Shopify store with fewer than 3,000 subscribers and you want abandoned cart reminders, order updates and the odd campaign on WhatsApp and SMS. At $49 a month, or $39 on yearly billing, the plan fee is reasonable, and the message charges will track how much you send.

Pay for Growth if your list is past 3,000, you want Instagram DM automation, or you are adding RCS and email. At $99 through Shopify, it is cheaper than the website's $149, so install from the App Store.

Think twice about Enterprise if the AI chatbot is the main reason. That is a $350 a month jump from Starter, or $300 from Growth, mostly to get AI answers on web, WhatsApp and Instagram. If what you need is support questions answered, such as "where is my order?" or "does this come in a size 8?", a Shopify AI chatbot built for support can sit next to a cheaper ConvertWay plan. My guides to WhatsApp support automation and AI order tracking show what that looks like.

From the work I do on eesel's agents, the split that works best for stores is simple: let the marketing tool send, and let a support agent answer. Campaign tools are built to start conversations. Answering what comes back, with the order looked up and the return policy checked, is a different job, and it is the one Rúngne handed to eesel. Its agents work about 2,100 Gorgias tickets a month across email, live chat and Instagram and Facebook comments, and around one ticket in seven gets answered on its own, from Shopify order and stock data.

If you are also weighing helpdesk costs, my Gorgias pricing for Shopify guide and chatbot cost breakdown help with the full budget.

Try eesel for your Shopify support

If you are looking at ConvertWay's $399 plan mainly so a bot can answer shoppers on WhatsApp and Instagram, try that part on its own first. eesel is an AI helpdesk teammate that plugs into Shopify, reads your help pages and past tickets, looks up orders, and answers on WhatsApp, chat and email, handing refunds and complaints to your team with a note.

Question Beauty does exactly this on Gorgias and Shopify: about 990 Messenger, email and chat tickets a month, 290 Shopify orders looked up, and 280 tickets closed without a person. eesel starts with 100 free credits, then $299 a month for 500 chats or tickets, however many people are on your team. You can test it on last month's real questions before a shopper ever sees it. Try eesel on your store.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does ConvertWay cost per month?

On the Shopify App Store, ConvertWay costs $49 a month on Starter, $99 on Growth and $399 on Enterprise, or $468, $1,068 and $4,428 a year. ConvertWay's own website lists Growth at $149 and Enterprise at $249 a month instead. Either way, ConvertWay pricing adds charges for every message you send, so budget like you would for Zoko pricing, where messages are a second bill.

Why is ConvertWay's Shopify price different from its website price?

The two price lists simply do not match on October 21, 2026: Shopify shows $49, $99 and $399, while theconvertway.com shows $149 and $249 behind a demo booking. If you install from the App Store, Shopify bills you the listing price every 30 days. I would ask sales to confirm in writing before paying yearly. My Shopify customer service apps guide covers apps with one public price.

Does ConvertWay charge for WhatsApp and SMS messages?

Yes. Every plan on the Shopify listing says additional charges apply per notification sent. ConvertWay's help center says WhatsApp rates are country specific and shown in the app's Billing section, and SMS is billed per 160-character unit. Meta's own model is explained in my WhatsApp API pricing post.

Is there a free ConvertWay plan or free trial?

The Shopify listing shows no free plan and does not state a trial length. The website has a free trial request form and demo booking buttons. If you only need free chat to start, Shopify Inbox costs nothing, and my Shopify live chat apps list has more free tiers.

Which ConvertWay plan includes the AI chatbot?

On the Shopify listing, AI chatbots on web, WhatsApp and Instagram appear only on Enterprise at $399 a month. Starter has flow-based chatbots, which follow paths you build. If AI answers are the main reason to upgrade, compare a WhatsApp AI agent like eesel, which works from your help pages and orders.

How many users do ConvertWay plans include?

The Shopify listing does not mention user limits. The website plans include 3 logins on Growth and 4 on Enterprise, with each extra agent at $10 a month. That is cheap next to per-seat tools in my Chatra pricing breakdown.

Is ConvertWay worth the price for a Shopify store?

For cart recovery, order updates and WhatsApp or SMS campaigns, Starter at $49 is fair value if your list is under 3,000 subscribers. It is a harder sell if you are paying $399 mostly for the AI chatbot. For support, pairing a cheaper plan with an AI agent for Shopify often costs less.

What are the cheapest alternatives to ConvertWay?

On their Shopify listings, Interakt starts at $21 a month and Wati at $69 a month, both with WhatsApp message charges on top. Zoko starts at $49.99. My Zoko alternatives post compares these WhatsApp tools side by side, and my best WhatsApp chatbot roundup covers the AI side.
