Aide AI review 2026: a strong Shopify support agent with a thin track record

I rate Aide 4 out of 5: it is one of the most complete AI agents for a Shopify store I have looked at this year, and it costs $0 to $499 a month on Aide's pricing page. For verified shoppers it cancels, refunds, changes addresses and starts returns, inside Zendesk, Gorgias or Front, or on its own free helpdesk. New topics start as drafts and refunds wait for a person by default.
What holds it back from a 5 is proof, not product. The self-serve plans are days old (every feature landed on every plan on October 25, 2026), and the public record is 2 Shopify reviews, 6 Zendesk reviews and 0 on G2, all from 2024. Order actions are Shopify only, there is no phone or WhatsApp for new workspaces, and per-reply billing gets pricier on long threads.
If you are on Shopify with Zendesk, Gorgias or Front, try Aide's free plan. If you want a whole ticket billed as one credit, a helpdesk Aide does not cover, or an agent that also runs scheduled queue checks, eesel's helpdesk teammate is the alternative I'd test, and Question Beauty runs it on Gorgias and Shopify.
What is Aide AI?
Aide is an AI customer service platform for ecommerce brands: an AI agent, a free helpdesk and a chat widget, built around Shopify. Its own fact sheet describes it as an agent that "answers customers and resolves orders, refunds and returns, inside Zendesk, Gorgias or Front, or on its own with Aide Helpdesk."

The company is Aide Superintelligence Corporation in Toronto, founded in 2020 by CEO Ziyad Basheer. Replies are written by Anthropic's Claude models, the platform runs on AWS in US East, and Aide says it is SOC 2 Type II certified.
Two things are worth knowing before you read any other Aide review:
- It is not aide.dev. That is a code editor. Aide's own docs make the same point.
- It changed shape this month. In May 2026 Aide sold managed plans from $3,000 a month with demo-only signup. It now sells self-serve plans from $0, and the changelog shows a burst of onboarding work in mid-October: a three-step signup, guided helpdesk setup and trial reminders. Anything written about Aide before October 2026 describes a different product.
I build AI agents at eesel, so I read Aide the way I'd read a colleague's design doc: what does it do on a real ticket, and what stops it from doing the wrong thing. On both counts it holds up well.
How does Aide work?
Aide reads your help center, website, products and past replies, classifies every incoming message against your own topics, and then answers, drafts or hands off depending on the AI level you set for that topic. The interesting design choice is that automation is earned per topic, not switched on for the whole inbox.

Each topic gets one of three levels, per Aide's homepage:
- AI Agent: acts on its own within the scenarios you wrote.
- Drafts: proposes a reply and a person confirms. New topics start here.
- None: answers from knowledge, and hands anything it would have to do or promise to your team.
Every reply is checked before it goes out. A reply that promises something its topic level does not allow, or claims to be human, is rejected and revised or handed off. When a customer asks, Aide says it is an AI, in English with a fixed line no setting can change.
Testing is where I think Aide is ahead of most tools its size. You can see how many conversations from the last 28 days a scenario would have matched, preview the draft it would have written on each, and compare drafts on recent tickets against what your team actually sent. Then a helpdesk inbox moves through four stages: Watch only, test senders, a share of conversations, and everyone. That is the same staged path I recommend in my guide to testing an AI agent.
Why does the draft stage matter so much? Because drafts that are "right" still get rewritten. In a real-traffic trial of eesel for a German jewelry brand on Zendesk and Shopify, about 1,000 tickets a month in 8 languages, 88% of AI drafts pointed the right way, but agents sent only 12% as-is. About 65% of the rewrites were length and tone, the kind of fix you get by training on the agents' own sent messages. Aide goes after exactly that: it writes its style guide from your team's past replies and learns which macros your team sends for which situations. I'd still budget a few weeks in Drafts before trusting the numbers.
What can Aide do?
Aide's feature list is long for a tool that starts free, and every plan now gets all of it. These are the parts that matter on a support queue.
Shopify order actions
This is Aide's strongest feature. Once a shopper proves the order is theirs (logged in to their store account, or order number plus matching email), Aide can cancel it, refund it, change the shipping address, remove an unshipped item, add a note or start a return, per its Shopify integration page.

The guardrails are well judged. Refunds wait for a teammate by default, large refunds need an Owner or Admin, and after five wrong verification attempts the conversation goes to your team. Returns follow your return window and excluded tags such as final-sale, or send a "Start your return" button to Loop, AfterShip or another portal.
Tracking is also better than a plain Shopify lookup. Aide pulls tracking directly from UPS and FedEx, shows every shipment of a split order, and knows the refunded amount on each order. For order tracking questions, which are most of a store's volume, that is the detail that turns "it says delivered" into a real answer.
Inside Zendesk, Gorgias and Front
If you keep your helpdesk, Aide works inside it. Drafts land as internal notes and in a sidebar panel, your team inserts and edits them, and once an inbox is live Aide answers chat and email there itself. It also fills ticket fields from the conversation and writes topics back as tags.

The October changelog added a guided setup for Zendesk and Front to match Gorgias, which waits for a ticket to reach Aide and links you to the first draft. That fixes the classic "I connected it, is anything happening?" moment.
Aide Helpdesk and Aide Chat
No helpdesk, or a small team happy to switch? Aide Helpdesk is a free AI-first inbox with routing, SLAs, macros, sender rules and Slack and email notifications. Aide Chat runs as a website widget, a no-code Shopify storefront embed, a support chat in Shopify checkout on Plus, and on the thank-you page. Email works by forwarding or through a connected Gmail inbox.
For a store on Shopify Inbox today, that is a real upgrade path at no cost. One small but welcome detail from the changelog: Aide Chat now locks itself to the first website it appears on, so nobody can copy your key and spend your AI replies.
Copilot, topics and knowledge gaps
Copilot drafts, rewrites and summarizes for your team in Aide and inside your helpdesk. It is a solid AI copilot, with one pricing catch I cover below: every Copilot draft counts as an AI reply.
Every message is classified against your own topics, and when none fits, Aide suggests one on the message, which is practical intent classification. Each week it also lists the questions your knowledge does not cover, checked against your help center first, with the text to paste and the article it belongs in. That is more useful than the usual "low confidence conversations" list, and it keeps your knowledge base improving from real tickets.
Aide Superintelligence, MCP and API
Owners and admins can ask Aide Superintelligence to set itself up and improve. It reads where your team rewrote its drafts, proposes the smallest fix, and asks before anything customers would notice.

Aide also has an MCP server and connectors for Claude and ChatGPT, added on October 19, 2026. From a chat, a teammate can search knowledge, look up orders, reply to conversations and refund or cancel orders, as themselves and within their role. Replies and order changes ask before running unless set to always allow. There is a public REST API and signed webhooks too. If MCP is new to you, my explainer on an AI agent MCP server covers why it matters.
How much does Aide cost?
Aide charges per AI reply, with a free helpdesk and free human replies. Every plan includes every feature, per Aide's pricing page on 2026-10-27:
| Plan | Monthly | Yearly | AI replies a month | Extra AI replies | Team and stores |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | Not offered | 150 | AI pauses, team keeps answering | 2 team members, 1 store |
| Starter | $39 | $372 ($31 a month) | 1,000 | $0.15 each, up to $110 | Unlimited team, 1 store |
| Pro | $149 | $1,428 ($119 a month) | 4,000 | $0.10 each, up to $350 | Unlimited team, up to 3 stores, setup call |
| Scale | $499 | $4,788 ($399 a month) | 15,000 | $0.07 each, up to $1,000 | Unlimited stores, account lead |
| Enterprise | From $1,500 | Annual agreement only | 50,000+ | Quoted | Named team, custom contract |

The unit is the thing to understand. An AI reply is each customer message Aide wrote a reply or a draft for, sent or not, plus every Copilot draft, rewrite or summary for your team.

At these prices Aide is one of the cheapest AI agents a Shopify store can buy, well under Yuma AI and Siena AI. Each overage cap also lands on the price of the next plan up, which keeps surprise bills small. I walk through caps, drafts during testing and a volume calculator in my full Aide AI pricing breakdown.
What do Aide users say?
Very little in public, and that is the honest headline. Aide's Shopify App Store listing has 2 reviews and its Zendesk Marketplace listing has 6. All are 5 stars and all date from 2024, before the current product and pricing. Aide's G2 profile shows 0 reviews, and I found no Reddit threads from Aide customers.
What the existing reviews praise is consistent: it works with the helpdesk you already have, and it uses Shopify data to answer properly.
"We currently use Zendesk and as such needed an AI solution that works with our existing CX platform and allows us to fully leverage our Shopify data to cut down support times and costs."
The draft quality comes up too, which matters given how much of Aide's rollout runs through drafts:
"Our agents are also starting to use Aide’s drafts without needing to change much from the draft, which is really amazing to see!"
And the onboarding help, from a time when Aide was a managed, demo-led product:
"We have been working with Aide for a couple of months now and they have been exceedingly responsive and helpful to our needs."
Aide's own customer stories name Threadbird, Stay Upright, ManyBidets, FEM and BeMo. Four of the five on its homepage run on Front, and at least one (FEM, a helpline) is not a store at all. So the published proof leans more toward Front users than toward Gorgias stores.
Eight reviews is not a reason to skip Aide. With a free plan, you can be the ninth reviewer at no cost. It is a reason to test on your own tickets rather than lean on the marketing numbers.
What are Aide's limits?
None of these are hidden. Aide lists most of them on its own fact sheet, which I respect. Here is what I'd weigh before signing up:
- Order actions are Shopify only. WooCommerce is read-only (orders, products and customers), and there is no BigCommerce or Magento integration listed.
- Three helpdesks. Zendesk, Gorgias and Front, or Aide Helpdesk. Teams on Freshdesk, HubSpot or Help Scout would need to move inboxes. My Freshdesk pricing guide covers the cost of staying put.
- No phone, and no social DMs for new workspaces yet. Voice is not supported, and WhatsApp, Messenger and Instagram are waiting on Meta App Review. If WhatsApp is a big channel, see my WhatsApp AI chatbot roundup.
- No hosted help center. Aide answers from the one you already have.
- Per-reply billing favors short threads. A shopper who sends 3 messages is 3 AI replies. A 6-message returns conversation is 6. Copilot use by your team is metered on the same allowance.
- The listings disagree with the website. The Shopify listing still says helpdesk connectors are on Pro and Scale only, while the pricing page says every plan. Front's integration page says Aide supports over 100 languages, while Aide's fact sheet says it does not publish a language count (the widget is translated into English, French and German, and Aide answers in the customer's language).
- The self-serve product is new. The every-feature-on-every-plan change is dated October 25, 2026. The engineering behind it looks careful (the changelog even covers handing off within seconds when the AI service is down), but there is no long public record yet.
Who is Aide best for?
Aide fits a Shopify store whose questions are mostly short and order-shaped, on Zendesk, Gorgias, Front or no helpdesk at all. It fits less well the further you get from that center.

To make that concrete, take a DTC supplements brand that came to eesel on Gorgias and Shopify, at about 7,000 tickets a month, that wants half of its email volume resolved automatically. At 2 AI replies a ticket that is about 14,000 replies, which fits Aide's Scale plan at $499 a month. That is a strong price for a store with that profile, and the order actions cover most of what WISMO automation needs.
Now take a B2B or technical support team where a ticket runs 6 or 8 messages and the answers live in a Freshdesk help center. Aide would mean switching helpdesks, the Shopify actions would sit unused, and per-reply billing would multiply. That team is better served by an agent built for its stack.
If you're still comparing Shopify-first tools, my reviews of Yuma AI and Siena AI use the same lens, and my list of Shopify customer service apps covers the wider field.
Is Aide AI worth it? My verdict
Yes, for the store it was built for. Here is how I scored it:
| What I looked at | Score | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Shopify depth | 4.5/5 | Cancels, refunds, address changes, returns, carrier tracking, split orders |
| Safety and testing | 4.5/5 | Per-topic AI levels, draft-first defaults, 28-day previews, staged rollout |
| Pricing | 4.5/5 | Free plan, $39 to $499 self-serve, caps that never overshoot the next plan |
| Helpdesk and channel coverage | 3/5 | 3 helpdesks, no phone, social DMs pending |
| Independent proof | 2.5/5 | 8 public reviews, all from 2024, none on G2 |
| Overall | 4/5 | A strong product with a short public track record |
The product scores high and the proof scores low, and those are different kinds of risk. A missing feature you can see on day one. A thin track record you can only fix by testing it yourself, which Aide's free plan makes easy. So that is what I'd do: connect the free plan to your helpdesk in Watch only, read a week of drafts against what your team sent, and check the AI resolution rate on your own topics before believing the homepage's 76%.
How does Aide compare with eesel?
On sticker price for a Shopify store, Aide is cheaper, and I won't pretend otherwise. Aide's Pro plan is $149 for 4,000 AI replies. eesel's Teammate plan is $299 for 500 tickets and $1,749 for 5,000, with 1 ticket or chat counting as 1 credit however long it runs.
| Aide | eesel | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | Ecommerce AI agent with a free helpdesk | AI teammates hired for a job, including a helpdesk teammate |
| Billing unit | Per AI reply, including Copilot drafts | Per ticket or chat, 1 credit however many replies |
| Entry price | $0 (150 replies), then $39 | $0 trial (100 credits), then $299 for 500 |
| Helpdesks | Zendesk, Gorgias, Front, or Aide Helpdesk | Zendesk, Gorgias, Freshdesk, Front and more |
| Commerce | Deep Shopify order actions | Shopify order lookups inside tickets |
| Beyond replies | Copilot, weekly knowledge gaps, MCP | Scheduled agents, Slack, reports, plus an AI blog writer |
| Done-for-you option | Setup call from Pro | Managed Support, $5,000 a month flat |
Where Aide wins: order actions. If you want the AI to cancel and refund orders on its own, Aide goes further than eesel's Shopify lookups today.
Where eesel fits better: helpdesks Aide does not cover, long tickets where per-ticket billing is kinder, and jobs that are not replies. Cape Coffee Beans runs eesel on Zendesk and Shopify partly as a queue manager: about 160 scheduled checks a month, including a morning sweep that emails the founder a short list of tickets that slipped through. I go deeper on the native options in eesel vs Gorgias AI and eesel vs Zendesk AI.
eesel for Gorgias and Zendesk stores
If Aide's idea appeals (an agent that checks the order before it answers) but you want a whole ticket billed as one credit, eesel's helpdesk teammate joins your existing queue in Gorgias or Zendesk with your Shopify store connected. It learns from your past tickets and macros, looks up the order, then replies or leaves a note for your team.

Question Beauty, a cosmetics brand on Gorgias and Shopify, is the closest match to an Aide buyer. In a month, eesel handled about 990 Gorgias tickets across Messenger, email and chat, sent about 960 replies itself, looked up about 290 Shopify orders and closed about 280 tickets without a person. Refunds and complaints went to the team with a note on what it found.
You get 100 free credits to run it on your own tickets first. Try eesel and compare the drafts side by side with Aide's.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Aide AI any good?
For a Shopify store, yes. In my Aide AI review I give it 4 out of 5: it acts on real orders (cancel, refund, address change, returns) for verified shoppers, works inside Zendesk, Gorgias or Front, and starts free. The missing point is proof, with 2 Shopify reviews, 6 Zendesk reviews and none on G2. Compare it with other Shopify AI chatbots before you commit.
What is Aide AI used for?
Aide answers ecommerce customers in chat, email and helpdesk tickets and handles Shopify order changes for shoppers who prove the order is theirs. It also drafts replies for your team with Copilot and lists weekly gaps in your knowledge base. Most of the volume it is built for is WISMO and order-change questions.
How much does Aide AI cost?
Aide has a Free plan with 150 AI replies a month, then Starter at $39 for 1,000, Pro at $149 for 4,000 and Scale at $499 for 15,000, with Enterprise from $1,500 a month on an annual deal. You pay per AI reply, not per seat. My full Aide AI pricing breakdown has a calculator for your volume.
Does Aide work with Gorgias and Zendesk?
Yes. Aide works inside Zendesk, Gorgias and Front, leaving drafts as internal notes and replying itself once an inbox is live. Aide's pricing page says the connectors are on every plan, while the Shopify App Store listing still says Pro and Scale only, so confirm on your plan. If you want to stay in Gorgias with another option, see my guide to Gorgias AI for Shopify.
Is it safe to let Aide refund orders?
Aide's defaults are careful: refunds wait for a teammate's approval, large refunds need an Owner or Admin, and new topics start in Drafts so a person confirms first. Shoppers must verify the order before any action. That is a sensible human in the loop setup for anything that touches money.
Does Aide work without Shopify?
Partly. Order actions and returns are Shopify only, and WooCommerce is read-only (orders, products and customers). Aide can still answer from your knowledge on any website, but most of what makes it good is the Shopify depth. Stores on other stacks may get more from a general ecommerce chatbot.
What is a good alternative to Aide AI?
If you are on Gorgias or Zendesk and want a whole ticket billed as one credit, eesel's helpdesk teammate is a close fit, and Question Beauty runs it on Gorgias and Shopify. Other Shopify-focused options include Yuma AI and Siena AI.
