How much does Smartsupp cost in 2026?

Smartsupp sells two things on two tabs: a "Customer Service" plan for the people answering chats, and a "Mira AI Agent" add-on for the AI. Here's the full Smartsupp pricing from Smartsupp's pricing page, in USD, before VAT, checked October 22, 2026.

Smartsupp's pricing page on the Customer Service tab with annual billing selected, showing Free at $0, Solo at $17 a month for 1 operator, Plus at $25 a month for 3 operators marked Most Popular, and Expert at $83 a month for 5+ operators, each with its list of channels and AI reply assists, as taken from Smartsupp

Plus$35$253110 email addresses, Flows (rule-based chatbots), MCP and API, 250 AI reply assists
Expert$117$835, then $34 each ($24 annual)350 email addresses, groups and chat assignment, team stats, priority support, 500 AI reply assists, 3-year history

Mira AI add-on$20 per 100 AI conversations$16 per 1001 AI agent1100 to 5,000 AI conversations a month, product feed up to 30,000 products

Three things on that table are easy to miss:

  • "Operator" means a login. Smartsupp defines one operator as one person with access to the account, so a part-time helper who answers the odd evening chat still needs a seat.
  • The website limit is real. Free, Solo and Plus run on one website. A second store means Expert, which allows 3, or a second account.
  • The AI reply assists are not the AI agent. The 50, 250 or 500 monthly assists are a support copilot that helps your people write and translate replies. The bot that answers shoppers on its own is Mira, and it's billed separately.

Smartsupp says annual billing saves "up to 30%," and on the plans it does: Solo is 29% cheaper, Expert 29%. Mira's annual discount is smaller, $16 against $20, which is 20%. One detail for accountants: the per-month prices on the page are rounded, so the savings badges (Save $85, $127 and $421 a year) put the yearly totals at about $203 for Solo, $293 for Plus and $983 for Expert, a few dollars under the price times 12.

Why the team size, not the chat volume, sets your plan

The live chat side never charges per conversation on a paid plan. Smartsupp's help article on conversation limits is plain about it: "all paid plans include unlimited live chat conversations," and the 25-a-month cap applies to Free only. That's a good deal for a busy store with a small team. It also means the thing that moves your bill is headcount, and Smartsupp's plans move in steps, not in a straight line.

Hand-drawn staircase chart of Smartsupp's monthly bill by number of people answering chats on monthly billing: Solo $24 for 1, Plus $35 for 2 to 3, a big jump to Expert $117 at 4 and 5 with an arrow reading +$82 for person 4, then $151, $185 and $219 for 6, 7 and 8 people
Hand-drawn staircase chart of Smartsupp's monthly bill by number of people answering chats on monthly billing: Solo $24 for 1, Plus $35 for 2 to 3, a big jump to Expert $117 at 4 and 5 with an arrow reading +$82 for person 4, then $151, $185 and $219 for 6, 7 and 8 people

Read the chart from left to right. The second person is cheap: Plus adds two seats for $11 more than Solo. Then the fourth person is the expensive one. Plus stops at 3 operators and Expert starts at 5, so going from three people to four takes the bill from $35 to $117 a month. After that, each extra person costs $34 a month (or $24 annually), which is about what a whole Plus plan costs.

Per seat, Expert isn't bad value once it's full: $117 for five people is $23.40 each, less than Solo's $24 for one. The pain is only in the gap. A team of four pays for five, and a team that's growing past three should plan for Expert rather than be surprised by it.

Team size isn't the only thing that pushes you up a tier. Features do too:

You needCheapest plan that has itMonthly / annual
More than 25 chats a monthSolo$24 / $17
Email in the same inboxSolo (3 addresses)$24 / $17
Flows, rule-based chatbots and lead capturePlus$35 / $25

2 or 3 websitesExpert$117 / $83
Groups, chat assignment, team stats, limited agent accessExpert$117 / $83
More than 3 websites, SLA, account managerUltimateFrom $280

Plus is the plan Smartsupp marks "Most Popular," and for a team of two or three it's the sweet spot. It's also where the MCP connection starts, which lets Claude or ChatGPT search conversations, send replies and pull stats from your account. That's a nice inclusion at $25 a month, and it's the idea behind my guide to MCP for customer support.

The trial is on Expert, so plan for the step down

New accounts get a 14-day trial with "full access to the Expert plan," per Smartsupp's plan guide. That's generous, and it's also the plan most small teams won't buy. Smartsupp's own trial guide lists what you lose on Solo or Plus: groups, limited agent access, team statistics, visitor filters, automatic tagging, the chat box API and priority support. If your team set up chat assignment during the trial, you'll either pay for Expert or rebuild that routine.

And when the trial ends without a plan, "the chat widget stops displaying on your website" until you pick one or continue on Free. Set a reminder for day 13.

How Mira AI pricing works

Mira is Smartsupp's AI agent for stores. It answers FAQs, recommends products from your feed with priced product cards, and hands chats to your team. It has its own tab on the pricing page, and its own meter.

Smartsupp's pricing page on the Mira AI Agent tab with annual billing selected, showing Mira AI Agent for a single website at $16 a month for 100 conversations, 1 AI agent, 100 to 5,000 conversations a month and up to 30,000 products, next to Unlimited AI Agents for multiple websites with a Let's talk button, as taken from Smartsupp

You buy Mira in packs of 100 conversations, at any level from 100 to 5,000 a month, and it works on any plan, Free included. The price per pack doesn't change with volume, so every AI chat costs 20 cents on monthly billing and 16 cents on annual, whether you buy 100 or 5,000.

100$20$16
500$100$80
1,000$200$160
2,500$500$400
5,000$1,000$800
More than 5,000, or more than 1 websiteQuote ("Unlimited AI Agents")Quote

The flat price is honest: you pay for chats Mira takes, and nothing else. What makes the bill hard to predict is how a "conversation" is counted and what happens at the limit.

Hand-drawn three-panel diagram of how Mira AI conversations are counted: one visitor sending 12 messages equals 1 conversation; a visitor who leaves and comes back later counts as 1 more; and at 100 of 100 used the AI goes quiet while live chat keeps working
Hand-drawn three-panel diagram of how Mira AI conversations are counted: one visitor sending 12 messages equals 1 conversation; a visitor who leaves and comes back later counts as 1 more; and at 100 of 100 used the AI goes quiet while live chat keeps working
  1. A conversation is a session, not a question. "One visitor chatting with Mira counts once, no matter how many messages they exchange," says the limits article. But a session ends "a few minutes after the visitor leaves your website," so a shopper who checks back that evening is a second conversation. That's closer to fair than per-message billing, and different again from per-resolution billing, which my explainer on deflection vs resolution rate unpacks.
  2. At the limit, Mira stops. When the packs run out, "Mira stops responding" and a red alert appears in the sidebar until the quota resets or you top up in Billing. Live chat keeps working, so in office hours your team picks up the slack. At 2am, nobody does. Size Mira for your busiest month; my holiday spike guide covers how to estimate it.
  3. Mira follows your main plan's billing period. Smartsupp's cancellation guide says the add-on "ends or changes together with it." On an annual plan, you can't buy Mira for just the December rush.
  4. One AI agent covers one website. The $16 plan is labelled "for a single website." A store with separate sites per country needs the quoted Unlimited AI Agents plan for Mira on each.

You can try Mira before paying: setup includes 10 free conversations with real visitors, and 25 more after onboarding, per the pricing page. Smartsupp also says Mira "can resolve up to 80% of inquiries without any human involvement." That's the vendor's ceiling, not a promise, and the part it can't resolve is worth knowing: Mira answers from up to 20 web pages, your product feed, text you add and 30 custom Q&A pairs, and none of those is your order system. A "where is my order?" chat gets your shipping policy, not a tracking number, which is the gap my guide to WISMO automation is about.

Smartsupp cost calculator

Plug in your team, your AI volume and what you need. The calculator picks the cheapest plan that fits and shows why the others don't.

The number I'd watch is the AI share of the bill. On the default settings (3 people, 1,000 AI chats, monthly billing) it's 85%, and it crosses 50% at just 200 AI chats a month on Plus. That's not a criticism of Mira's price. It's a sign that once you switch the AI on, the plan you picked matters much less than how many chats you hand it.

What real stores would pay for Smartsupp

Here are five common setups, all at Smartsupp's list prices. Yearly figures are monthly-billing prices times 12, so annual plans come in a few dollars lower.

Store setupPlanMonthly billingAnnual billing (per month)AI share
Owner answers chats, no AISolo$24$170%
Owner plus 300 AI chats a month for eveningsSolo + 3 Mira packs$84$6571%
3 people, Flows, 1,000 AI chatsPlus + 10 packs$235$18585%
4 people, no AIExpert$117$830%
6 people, 2,500 AI chats, one siteExpert + 1 extra + 25 packs$651$50777%

Two rows tell the story. The 4-person team with no AI pays more than the owner running 300 AI chats a month plus a seat, purely because of the seat jump. And the 6-person team at 2,500 AI chats spends $500 of its $651 on Mira. For comparison with tools in the same aisle, Tidio's pricing and Chatra's pricing charge per seat in different ways, and Chatway's pricing bills its AI per resolution.

Billing rules that change the total

The help center has nine articles on billing, and these are the lines that change what you actually pay:

  • Upgrades are pro-rated, downgrades wait. Per the billing guide, moving up a plan or adding people "takes effect immediately" and you pay the pro-rated difference. Moving down, or removing people, waits until your renewal date, with no refund or credit for the rest of the period. A change that mixes both (fewer people, more Flow conversations) is treated as a downgrade and waits.
  • The refund window is 15 days, once. Smartsupp's refund policy gives a full refund within 15 days of "the very first payment of a new account." It doesn't cover upgrades, add-ons or renewals, including "automatic renewals you forgot about." Turn auto-renewal off before the renewal date if you're leaving.
  • Cancelling keeps your data. When a paid plan ends, the account is blocked until you continue on Free, and Smartsupp says nothing gets deleted unless you delete the account.
  • Card first, invoice after. Smartsupp can't issue an invoice or proforma before payment, per its payment methods article. Wire transfer is an exception, for annual plans only. It bills in USD, EUR, CZK or PLN, and VAT is added by billing country.
  • Free has no support from Smartsupp. The plan guide lists "no support from Smartsupp" on Free, and Smartsupp's own reply to one Trustpilot reviewer said "there is no customer service in the free package" (Trustpilot).

If you install from the Shopify App Store

Billing works differently for Shopify stores. Smartsupp's help center says that through the Shopify app "your subscription is billed through Shopify's own payment system and only monthly billing is available." So a Shopify store pays $24, $35 or $117 a month, not the annual $17, $25 or $83. That's about 40% more over a year for the same plan. If annual pricing matters to you, my roundup of Shopify AI chatbots and the BestChat pricing breakdown cover Shopify-billed options.

Where Smartsupp's own pages disagree

I found three places where Smartsupp's pages give different numbers. In each case I've used the pricing page, since it's the one you buy from:

TopicPricing pageElsewhere on Smartsupp's site
Shopify billingNot statedHelp center: monthly only. The Shopify App Store listing shows yearly prices ($204, $300 and $996 a year)
Mira ceiling100 to 5,000 conversations, up to 30,000 productsPlan guide: "expandable up to 1,000," product feed "up to 50,000 products"
Flow conversationsUnlimited on Plus and upLimits article: a "monthly Flow conversation allowance," with extra Flow conversations for sale

None of these is a big deal on its own. Together, they're a reason to check the billing screen inside your dashboard before you commit to annual billing.

What users say about Smartsupp's price

Smartsupp's reviews are strong overall: 4.7 out of 5 from 1,081 reviews on G2, where the most-mentioned strengths are ease of use (108) and easy setup (68). Price is the most common complaint, with G2's review tags counting "Expensive" 29 times and "Cost" 21 times. The most useful pricing review I found came from a PrestaShop store selling pit bikes, which liked the product and still flagged the cost:

G2

"The price would be more friendly for start. We just start our eshop with low cashflow."

The same reviewer said the free trial "was enough to see real value," because shoppers asked pre-sale questions about part compatibility, which are the chats that turn into orders. That matches what I see in pre-purchase questions generally: the chat earns its seat price when it's answering people about to buy. G2's tags also count "AI Limitations" 19 times, which lines up with Mira being widget-only and order-blind. For the full picture of features and reviews, see my Smartsupp review.

Is Smartsupp worth the price?

For a small store where people answer the chats, yes. Solo at $17 a month annual for one person, or Plus at $25 for three, with unlimited conversations, WhatsApp, Messenger and email in one inbox, is fair value against most live chat software. It's a natural fit for WordPress, WooCommerce and PrestaShop stores; my guide to the WooCommerce AI chatbot options covers that side.

It gets harder to justify in three cases:

  • You have four people. You'll pay $117 a month for Expert to seat the fourth. Compare with tools in my ecommerce live chat list before you do.
  • You want the AI to take most of your chats. At thousands of AI conversations, Mira is most of the bill, and it only answers in the website widget. WhatsApp, Messenger and email stay with your people. My guide to WhatsApp support for ecommerce covers AI on that channel.
  • Your support really lives in a helpdesk. Mira hands off into the Smartsupp inbox, or by email after hours, and its FAQ says it "doesn't create tickets in third-party tools like Freshdesk or Zendesk." If post-purchase email and returns fill your day, the ecommerce helpdesk is where the AI needs to work, and a clean chat handoff matters more than the chat itself.

If you're weighing a switch, Tidio's AI pricing and Crisp's pricing are the closest comparisons, and my list of live chat alternatives goes wider.

How eesel's pricing compares

eesel works differently, so the comparison isn't seat for seat. eesel is an AI teammate you hire for a specific job, and for a store that's the AI helpdesk teammate: it answers on your website through a chat bubble, on WhatsApp, Messenger and email, and inside helpdesks like Gorgias and Zendesk.

It reads orders from Shopify or WooCommerce before it answers. To be clear, eesel doesn't integrate with Smartsupp. It would replace Mira on your site, or work in your helpdesk behind it.

On eesel's pricing, there are no seats. A ticket or a chat is one credit, whatever the channel. The free plan includes 100 credits; paid plans start at $299 a month for 500 credits and go up to $1,749 for 5,000, with unlimited agents and seats. Paying a year upfront gets two months free.

I'll be straight about the numbers: per AI chat, Mira is cheaper. 500 Mira conversations cost $100 a month on monthly billing; 500 eesel credits cost $299. If you want a widget that answers product and policy questions on one store, and people handle everything else, Smartsupp is the better buy.

eesel earns its price when the AI has to do the rest of the job. Question Beauty, a cosmetics brand on Gorgias and Shopify, has eesel answer Messenger, email and chat in the language the customer wrote in. Between August 8 and September 8, 2026, it handled about 990 Gorgias tickets, sent about 960 replies and looked up about 290 Shopify orders, while refunds, complaints and wholesale requests went to a person with a note attached. STIL Classics, a planner and stationery brand, uses eesel the other way round: it prepared about 320 Gorgias tickets in the same month, checked about 230 Shopify orders and left about 430 draft replies for the team to send.

eesel's Activity view for a Zendesk agent, listing website chat conversations that became Zendesk tickets, resolved chat tasks and scheduled skill runs from the past 7 days, with filters for Approved, Rejected and Pending

Since Smartsupp's MCP and API access is part of what Plus buys you, one more thing worth knowing. eesel has a command-line tool that runs the same workspace you'd use in the dashboard, so a person, a script or a coding agent like Claude Code, Cursor or Codex can drive it. npx @eesel/cli init chat-bubble --site https://your-store.com sets up a website chat bubble from the terminal, every command can print JSON for an agent to read, and --dry-run shows a change before it goes live. And eesel mcp token gives you what you need to connect the workspace to your own AI tools as an MCP server.

Try eesel when Mira's widget isn't enough

If Smartsupp's live chat suits your people but you want the AI to check the Shopify order, answer on email and WhatsApp too, and hand off into Gorgias or Zendesk with the context written up, that's the job eesel does. You can simulate it on your past tickets before it talks to a customer, and you pay per ticket or chat, not per seat, so a fourth teammate costs nothing extra. It starts free with 100 credits, no card needed.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Smartsupp cost per month?

Per Smartsupp's pricing page, Smartsupp costs $0 on Free, $24 a month on Solo, $35 on Plus and $117 on Expert with monthly billing, or $17, $25 and $83 a month billed annually. Ultimate starts at $280. Prices exclude VAT, and the Mira AI agent is extra. My Smartsupp review covers what each plan is like to use.

How much does Smartsupp Mira AI cost?

Mira AI costs $20 per 100 AI conversations a month on monthly billing, or $16 per 100 on annual billing, from 100 up to 5,000 a month. That's a flat 20 cents (or 16 cents) per AI chat at any volume. One conversation is one visitor session, so it's worth reading my explainer on deflection vs resolution before you size it.

Is Smartsupp free?

Yes. The Free plan includes live chat, WhatsApp and Messenger for 1 operator on 1 website, with 25 conversations a month and 14 days of history, but no email, Flows or support from Smartsupp. Once the 25 are used, new conversations are blocked until next month. My list of Tidio alternatives covers other free live chat options.

What happens when Smartsupp's AI conversations run out?

Mira stops responding and a red alert appears in the dashboard until the quota resets or you buy more in Billing. Your live chat keeps working, so your team can still answer, but nothing answers after hours. Size Mira for your busiest month; my after-hours support guide covers the trade-offs.

How much does Smartsupp cost for a team of 4 or more?

Plus covers 3 operators, so a fourth person moves you to Expert at $117 a month ($83 annually), which includes 5 people. Each extra person after that is $34 a month ($24 annually). A 6-person team pays $151 a month before any Mira AI. Compare per-seat costs in my Chatra pricing breakdown.

Is Smartsupp pricing different on Shopify?

Yes. Smartsupp's help center says subscriptions bought through the Shopify app are billed by Shopify and are monthly only, so you pay $24, $35 or $117 a month instead of the annual rates, even though the Shopify listing shows yearly prices. My roundup of Shopify AI chatbots covers alternatives.

Does Smartsupp offer refunds?

Smartsupp gives a full refund within 15 days of the first payment on a new account. Upgrades, add-ons like Mira and renewals aren't refundable, and downgrades take effect at the end of the paid period with no credit. If you're comparing total cost, my guide to chatbot cost covers what else to budget for.

Is there a cheaper alternative to Smartsupp's AI?

Per AI chat, Mira's 16 to 20 cents is hard to beat if you only need website answers on one store. If the AI also has to read orders and answer email and WhatsApp, eesel's AI helpdesk teammate charges one credit per ticket or chat with no seat fees; see eesel pricing or how it works in Gorgias.
