What TalentPop is

TalentPop sells "Customer Service For E-Commerce Brands, Done For You", per its homepage. In practice that means outsourced human agents, matched to your brand and managed by TalentPop. The homepage leads with agent profile cards: a name, a star rating, average tickets closed a day, years of experience and a previous employer. That tells you what the product really is. You are hiring a person, with an agency doing the recruiting, training and supervision.
It is not a call center that pools agents across dozens of brands. The FAQ is direct about it: "Unlike other customer service agencies that pool together a team of agents to handle tickets across multiple brands, we assign a dedicated agent to your brand." That is the core promise, and it is a real difference from cheaper shared-queue outsourcing.
Who is behind it
TalentPop was founded by Ashkan Taheri, who leads sales, marketing and partnerships, and Arman Taheri, co-founder and Director of Customer Success. The about page tells the origin story. The founders were running their own ecommerce brands, took a trip to the Philippines, hired 13 people there to run support, design and operations, and then started doing the same for other Los Angeles brands. A company LinkedIn post from March 2023 celebrated its 3-year anniversary, which puts the founding around 2020.
The legal entity is "TalentPop (Social Expansion, LLC)", per its terms, and it is based in Costa Mesa, California. It claims "2000+ Team Members", "750 Brands" and "10 Countries". The same page also says "over 500 brands" further down, so treat the exact count loosely.
Services and channels
Customer service is the main product, but the menu is wider than most support agencies.
| Service | What it is | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Customer service agent | Dedicated agent in your helpdesk | $8-$14/hour + $500 per agent |
| E-commerce sales associate | "Brand concierge" focused on upsells and live chat sales | $11-$17/hour |
| Executive / marketing assistant | Admin, email marketing, social | $8-$16/hour |
| Influencer marketing specialist | TikTok Shop and influencer outreach | $8-$14/hour |
| TalentPop Lite | Pooled agents, pay per resolution | $2.50-$4.00 per resolution |
| AI Transformation | Gorgias AI setup and management | $2,500 setup + hourly roles |
| Copilot by TalentPop | GPT-4 reply helper inside Gorgias | Gorgias app (see help center) |
Prices come from the pricing page and the TalentPop Lite page. Copilot is a Gorgias app that "integrates OpenAI's GPT-4 with Gorgias" for suggested replies, grammar fixes, tone rewrites and Spanish or French translation, per the Gorgias help center.
For channels, the homepage lists email, phone, social media, live chat and SMS, and the customer service page adds in-app messaging. Agents get required training on Shopify, Recharge, Zendesk and Gorgias, according to the FAQ. So if you run a typical Shopify plus Gorgias stack, your agent arrives already knowing the tools. Phone agents, the FAQ says, are "vetted even more intensely to ensure their accent is minimal or non-existent".
How onboarding works
This is where TalentPop is strongest. The process has three stages, and the how it works page is unusually specific about each.

Recruit. You describe the personality and skills you want. TalentPop sends an Agent Profile with "past experience, skills, interests, writing samples, and a personalized video intro." If you do not like the match, it recruits again. Applicants must score A- or above on written, oral and customer service tests, and "only about 3% of applicants pass" (FAQ).
Train. Every agent completes a 20-hour program covering Shopify, Gorgias, Zendesk, subscription management and support best practices. Then TalentPop builds a brand guide from 150 of your past tickets, and your team runs 2 to 3 recorded live training calls (how it works).
Manage. A Team Lead reviews tickets closed per day, response and resolution times, and spot-checks five random tickets a week. You get a weekly report, Slack access to a Customer Success Manager and an Onboarding Specialist, and cover from a senior agent when yours is out (FAQ).
The whole thing takes "2-3 weeks" on average, per the FAQ. That is a fair timeline for a trained human. One honest note: five tickets a week is a light sample for QA. For a full-time agent closing 70 or more tickets a day, which is what TalentPop's own agent cards show, that is under 2% of their work. You will want to keep reading tickets yourself for the first month.
The AI side
TalentPop has moved into AI, and it is worth understanding what that means. Its AI Transformation service promises to "Automate up to 30% of Support With AI" and be "Up and Running in 30 Days". The software is your helpdesk's own AI. The Silky Gem case study says TalentPop "introduced Gorgias Automate", reached 33.46% automation after a month and 55.9% later. Silky Gem's Customer Service Manager was enthusiastic:
"I would definitely recommend. It's been a godsend. I think that anybody would be dumb not to use it. It's cost efficient and I know that all your agents are trained very, very well."
Michelle Tedder, Customer Service Manager, Silky Gem, via TalentPop's case study

So TalentPop is a skilled Gorgias implementation partner, and co-founder Arman Taheri has posted about it on LinkedIn. One post opens: "AI is playing a huge part in Customer Service, many times without us even knowing. What we're doing at TalentPop is helping brands to use AI ..." (LinkedIn, search snippet).
The catch is cost. The service is $2,500 to set up plus $200, $80 and $15 hourly roles, and you pay your helpdesk for the AI too. We break that down in our TalentPop pricing guide. If you are on Gorgias and want to understand the underlying tool first, read our guides to Gorgias's AI agent and its pricing.
Pricing in brief
TalentPop publishes its prices, which deserves credit. Here is the short version. The full breakdown, with worked monthly costs, is in our TalentPop pricing post.

Billing is per minute worked, tracked in Hubstaff and invoiced twice a month (pricing FAQ).

What customers say about TalentPop
This is the hardest part of any TalentPop review, because independent client reviews are scarce. TalentPop has no Clutch profile and no G2 listing. Most of the client voice comes from TalentPop's own case studies, which are specific and named but, of course, curated.
On TalentPop's case studies
The numbers are concrete. Hello Molly reports 91,824 tickets handled at 86.3% CSAT with 4 agents. Vega reports 12,000 tickets at 92.8% CSAT with 5 agents. simplehuman, with 800+ inbound tickets a day, started with 3 agents in July 2022 and grew to 14. Several clients came from another outsourcer, including Espin Bikes and Ancient Nutrition.
The theme in the quotes is flexibility and the feeling that agents are part of the team:
"Over time, it's easier to see with a little bit of their work whether or not they will be a good fit. So I am glad that we are able to try them out a little bit and see how it flows… And then I really like that you have the option for us to change our agents if we need to."
Nicole Savic, Customer Support Manager, simplehuman, via TalentPop's case study
On Trustpilot
TalentPop's Trustpilot page shows 3.8 from 40 reviews, with 28 in the last 12 months. TalentPop has replied to 85% of negative reviews, but "typically takes over 1 month to reply".

Read the reviews and the score means less than it seems. We went through all 40. Most of the 5-star reviews are from TalentPop agents praising it as an employer. We could not identify a single review clearly written by a paying client about the support they received. The 1-star reviews cluster around one complaint from store owners: outreach that posed as a shopper's question.
"Someone contacted our store appearing to be a prospective customer and asked a routine question about our return policy. After we replied, he announced that he had purchased elsewhere because our response took two days ... What appeared to be a genuine customer inquiry was simply a manufactured sales scenario designed to make our business feel inadequate and convert us into a lead."
A store owner on Trustpilot, July 16, 2026
That is not a one-off. Another reviewer described the same pattern in December 2024. To its credit, TalentPop answered publicly and took responsibility. It said the emails came from "a customer experience audit, which can include a response speed assessment", and that "Due to an error in our process, communications related to this audit reached a broader audience than intended." Still, the July 2026 review came after that. If you are evaluating TalentPop, you may well have received one of these emails yourself.
On Reddit and elsewhere
Client-side Reddit talk about TalentPop is thin. The one enthusiastic client comment we found, on r/smallbusiness, reads like a testimonial: "They didn't just plug in agents they took the time to understand our tone, our values, and what great CX looks like for our customers." Weigh it accordingly. On X, the company's @TalentPopCX account has 151 followers and has been quiet since 2023, so there is no customer signal there.
What agents say, and why it matters to you
Usually we would skip employee reviews in a vendor review. Here they matter, because with TalentPop the agent is the product. TalentPop scores 3.3 on Glassdoor from 102 ratings, with compensation and benefits at 2.9, and 3.3 on Indeed from 26 ratings.
Many agents like the culture and the training. One wrote on Trustpilot: "Even though the onboarding process is fast, I always felt like the TalentPop team had my back, ready to jump in and help whenever I needed assistance with a client." The recurring complaint is pay. Another agent review put it simply: "Good company for starters or those looking to get experience. However, the starting hourly pay is only $3."

Reddit threads in r/buhaydigital, a Filipino remote-work community, say the same. One user quoted rates of "3 dollars (nonvoice) and 4 dollars (voice)" (Reddit). TalentPop's own agent FAQ confirms onboarding week is "not compensated on an hourly basis", with a $50 bonus once an agent is paired with a client. A contractor also described what happens when a client leaves:
"one of their UK clients just ended the contract with them. last day ko na nga on Feb 28. until then, magiging "benched" na status ko. i have to take the onboarding training again tapos pair ulit ng client."
u/_bsdk6500 on r/buhaydigital (roughly: "my last day is Feb 28; until then I'll be benched, and I have to take onboarding again and be paired with a new client")
Why should a brand care? A $12 hourly rate that pays an agent $3 leaves room for recruiting, Team Leads and Customer Success, so the spread is not shocking for the industry. But low pay is the usual cause of agent churn. Every time your agent leaves, you lose the person who learned your brand voice. Ask TalentPop how long agents typically stay on an account, and what happens to the $500 fee if you need a replacement.
Pros and cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Published hourly rates and month-to-month terms | You pay for logged hours, busy or not |
| One dedicated agent per brand, not a shared pool | The $8 rate needs 25+ agents; teams under 10 pay $12-$14 |
| Shopify, Gorgias, Zendesk and Recharge training before day one | $500 staffing fee per agent |
| Brand guide built from 150 of your past tickets | QA spot-checks just 5 tickets a week |
| Live in 2 to 3 weeks, with a weekly Team Lead report | No Clutch or G2 profile; little independent client feedback |
| Strong Gorgias AI implementation experience | AI setup is $2,500 plus about $4,767/month in recommended hours |
| Named clients with real volume (Hello Molly, Vega, simplehuman) | Sales outreach that store owners describe as deceptive |
| Agents across many time zones; 24/7 possible | Agents report about $3/hour pay, a retention risk |
TalentPop review: our verdict
TalentPop is a good agency with a clear, honest offer: a dedicated, ecommerce-trained human in your helpdesk, managed for you, at a published hourly rate. The onboarding is thoughtful, and the case studies show real teams at real volume. If you want one to three people who learn your brand voice and handle the judgment calls, it deserves a spot on your shortlist.

Where it fits less well is coverage. Hourly billing means nights, weekends and Black Friday all cost more people. A 40-hour agent covers less than a quarter of the week. And most of what that agent answers is "where is my order", returns and sizing, which AI now handles well. The review signal also gives us pause. The clearest outside feedback is about sales emails, not service quality, and that is a gap you will have to fill with reference calls.
Our take: pick TalentPop if you want a small, dedicated human team and your inbox is predictable. Skip it if what you really need is every channel answered at all hours for a fixed cost.
TalentPop alternatives
If TalentPop is close but not quite right, these are where we would look next.
| Alternative | Best for | Price | How it differs |
|---|---|---|---|
| eesel Managed Support (ours) | Shopify brands under ~5,000 conversations a month who want every channel covered 24/7 | $5,000/month flat | AI answers and takes actions in your tools; our team handles escalations. No setup fee |
| Influx | Brands that want dedicated humans on a monthly rate | From $1,400/agent/month (APAC) | Flat monthly rate, no setup fee, managed option with a Team Leader |
| TalentPop Lite | Small, email-heavy inboxes with uneven volume | $2.50-$4.00 per resolution | Pooled agents, 24 hour response guarantee |
| eesel self-serve AI | Teams that want to run the AI themselves | From $299/month | You configure and manage it inside your helpdesk |
For more options, our roundups of the best ecommerce customer service outsourcing companies and Influx alternatives cover the wider field, and AI customer service outsourcing explains the newer AI-first model. If you are weighing people against automation directly, AI agent vs human agent costs runs the numbers.
Try eesel Managed Support
If what you liked about TalentPop is "done for you", eesel Managed Support keeps that and drops the hourly meter. For $5,000 a month flat, our AI agents answer every conversation on email and helpdesk, Instagram, Facebook and TikTok DMs, SMS, WhatsApp, reviews and phone. They work inside Shopify, Gorgias, Zendesk or Freshdesk, and they take real actions like tracking orders, creating exchanges and issuing refunds within your limits.

A real person on our team watches over your account, handles anything sensitive and sends you a weekly briefing on what customers asked and what is costing you sales. There is no setup fee and no contract, and most brands are live within about a week. It is new, and we are taking 30 founding partners while we run it hands-on, so there are no Managed Support results to show you yet. It is built for brands with up to about 5,000 conversations a month. It is not the right call for phone-heavy or regulated support, or for teams that want to run the AI themselves. If that is not you, see how Managed Support works.
