What you are actually buying from Chatdesk
Before the numbers, it helps to know what kind of bill this is. Chatdesk is not helpdesk software with seats, and it isn't a classic call center that rents you agents by the hour. It is a managed outsourcing service. Chatdesk plugs into your existing helpdesk and social accounts. Its "BrandScript" machine learning drafts replies from your past tickets, and freelance experts, mostly US-based according to Chatdesk, edit and send them. You are billed for each customer thread that gets resolved.
The company was founded in New York in 2016 by Aneto Okonkwo, a former Google product manager on Google Assistant, and Andrew Olaleye (Chatdesk). It raised a $7M Series A led by Cultivation Capital. Its legal name is now "Chatdesk, Inc. DBA Remarkable AI" (terms), and new marketing lives at beremarkable.ai. The old chatdesk.com site still serves the pricing page, though, and that page is where the published numbers live. If you want the full story on service quality, onboarding and who runs it, read our Chatdesk review. This post sticks to the money.
That rebrand matters for your budget in one specific way. The price list you'll find quoted around the web ($1,000 for 400 tickets) is no longer the one Chatdesk shows buyers. Here is what changed.
Chatdesk pricing plans in 2026
We loaded the live Chatdesk pricing page on 9 October 2026. A visitor sees exactly one plan, under the headline "1:1 customer engagement - done for you".

Underneath that page, though, the HTML still holds the older support plans, marked hidden. Here is everything Chatdesk publishes in one place, with what a visitor can actually see.
| Plan | Price | What you get | Shown on the page today? |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1:1 customer engagement (pay per conversation) | $1,500 / month | 500 conversations a month across email, social and SMS; "24/7 coverage from real people"; strategy, message generation and reporting | Yes, the only visible plan (pricing) |
| On-demand support (pay per ticket) | $1,000 / month monthly, $900 / month yearly | 400 tickets resolved a month on social, email and SMS; slider up to 21,000 tickets for $42,000 | Hidden in the page code since mid-2024 (pricing) |
| Dedicated experts | $3,900 / month per full-time expert ($3,510 yearly) | Live chat, "Accelerated SLAs", custom workflows, "Discounted per-resolution rate"; 1 to 10 experts | Hidden (pricing) |
| Social engagement (outbound) | from $900 / month | 600 confirmed likes, replies or follows on TikTok, YouTube, Reddit, X and Threads | Hidden |
| 1:1 retention messages | from $1,000 / month | 400 personalized email, SMS or DM conversations | Hidden |
| Call deflection | from $99 / month | Moves callers to self-serve and messaging, plus a call-reduction dashboard | Hidden |
| Customer insights | $0 / month | Feedback analysis dashboard, unlimited users | Hidden |
Remarkable AI's own site has no pricing page; beremarkable.ai/pricing returns a 404. Its homepage and support page both say "Plans starting at $1,500 per month". The support page adds "24/7 coverage with AI + experts" and a free pilot. So $1,500 is the real entry point under both names.
One quirk worth flagging: Chatdesk's own FAQ hasn't caught up. The answer to "How much does Chatdesk cost?" still says plans "start at just $99/month". Another FAQ quotes $225 for 100 email tickets. Neither plan exists on the pricing page any more, and the $99 support plan was last shown there in December 2022. If a sales rep quotes you either one, great, but don't plan around it.
The billable unit: one resolved conversation
The meter is the most important thing to understand about any support price, and Chatdesk's is simpler than most. You pay for a resolved conversation, not for each message in it. Chatdesk's comparison pages put it plainly: "Chatdesk does not limit the number of messages per ticket, so you're never double charged" (Chatdesk vs Simplr). The BrandBastion comparison adds: "You only pay when a Chatdesk expert resolves a ticket - no matter how many messages it takes."

Three more rules come straight from the FAQ:
- No time-of-day premium. "Our pay-per-ticket pricing plans charge the same flat fee for every solved ticket, regardless of the time or day" (FAQ). That is a real advantage over agencies that add holiday or overnight rates.
- No charge per expert. "Most brands start with 3-5 Experts on their team. However, you are not charged for the number of Experts" (FAQ).
- You choose the scope. You can tell the team to only answer, say, pre-sale comments and skip the rest (FAQ). That is the main way to control the bill.
What the pages never do is define "resolved" or "conversation". Is a customer who replies "thanks!" two days later a new conversation? Does a spam DM that gets archived count? On a $3.00 meter those edge cases add up, so get the definition in your order form. Pay-per-resolution pricing has the same blind spot wherever you meet it, from Zendesk's AI agents to Gorgias.
The full per-ticket price ladder (still in the code)
The visible plan stops at "starting at". For anything bigger, Chatdesk says "As your volume goes up, the price per conversation goes down" and sends you to sales (pricing). The best public clue to how those discounts work is the hidden on-demand slider. Its full price table sits in the page's JavaScript and hasn't changed since September 2023 (Wayback, Sep 2023).
| Tickets resolved / month | Monthly billing | Yearly billing (per month) | Per ticket (monthly) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 400 | $1,000 | $900 | $2.50 |
| 900 | $2,250 | $2,025 | $2.50 |
| 1,000 | $2,400 | $2,160 | $2.40 |
| 2,000 | $4,800 | $4,320 | $2.40 |
| 3,000 | $6,900 | $6,210 | $2.30 |
| 5,000 | $11,500 | $10,350 | $2.30 |
| 6,000 | $13,200 | $11,880 | $2.20 |
| 10,000 | $21,000 | $18,900 | $2.10 |
| 15,000 | $30,000 | $27,000 | $2.00 |
| 21,000 (slider max) | $42,000 | $37,800 | $2.00 |
All figures come from the pricingTable script on the Chatdesk pricing page. The per-ticket column is our arithmetic.
Two takeaways. First, the discount curve is gentle. Going from 400 to 15,000 tickets only takes you from $2.50 to $2.00, a 20% drop for 37 times the volume. Second, the current $1,500 plan is pricier per unit than this ladder ever was. At $3.00 a conversation it is 20% above the old entry rate. Some of that is a change in what you are buying ("strategy creation & message generation" and reporting are now bundled in), and some of it is plain repricing.
For dedicated experts, the hidden slider runs from 1 expert at $3,900 to 10 experts at $39,000 a month, a flat $3,900 each (pricing). Between 2021 and 2023 the page bundled 2,000 resolved tickets into that $3,900, which it called "$1.95 per ticket" (Wayback, Dec 2022). Dedicated experts "work eight hours per day" (FAQ), so covering 24/7 with dedicated staff means several of them.
How Chatdesk pricing has changed since 2020
Chatdesk has published its prices since at least 2020, which deserves credit. Most ecommerce outsourcing companies never show a number. But the entry ticket has climbed a long way. In 2020 you could start with 40 tickets for $99. Today the floor is $1,500.

| When (archived page) | Cheapest support plan | Other plans shown |
|---|---|---|
| May 2020 | $99 / month, 40 solved tickets | $900 for 400; Enterprise on request |
| Jun 2021 | $99 / month, 40 tickets | $900 for 400; Dedicated $3,900 for 2,000 |
| Dec 2022 | $99 / month, 40 tickets ($2.50 each) | $499 for 200; Dedicated $3,900 for 2,000; free pilot |
| Mar 2023 | $250 / month, 100 tickets | $1,000 for 400; Dedicated $3,900 |
| Sep 2023 | $1,000 / month, 400 tickets | Slider to 21,000; $3,900 per expert |
| Jun 2024 to today | $1,500 / month, 500 conversations | Everything else hidden |
The pattern is a company moving up-market. Small Shopify stores that budgeted around the old $99 plan are no longer the target customer. If your support volume is a few hundred messages a month, Chatdesk now costs more than it used to, and the AI tools built for small teams are probably a better first step.
Extra fees and contract terms to check
The headline price is honest about the meter. The terms around it are where a budget can drift. Here is everything we found that changes the real bill.
| Cost or term | What Chatdesk says | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Channel setup | No onboarding fee for helpdesk and social channels | FAQ |
| Order system setup | $99 one-time to connect Shopify, Magento or similar | FAQ |
| Training and launch | "Included with all plans. Always free." Starts with a Standard Response Guide | pricing |
| Pilot | Free two-week pilot | pricing |
| Yearly billing | Saves 10% (older per-ticket plans) | pricing |
| Going over your allowance | Not stated on the pricing page. FAQ says add-on packages average "about $2.25 per ticket"; the 2022 page listed $124 per 50 tickets | FAQ, Wayback |
| Contract length | FAQ: "our pay-per-ticket plans are month-to-month" | FAQ |
| Renewal | Terms: auto-renews "for additional periods of the same duration as the Service Term" unless either side ends it | terms |
| Refunds | No refunds or credits if you downgrade or end early within a term | terms |
| Price changes | Chatdesk "reserves the right to change its price list ... upon notice" | terms |
| Late payment | 1.5% a month interest on overdue amounts | terms |
Two gaps matter more than any fee. First, service levels depend on the plan. On-demand experts promise a 90-minute response on social and 6 hours on email. Dedicated experts get 30 minutes on social, 90 minutes on email and 1-2 minutes on chat (FAQ). If you want fast email or any live chat, plan on the $3,900-per-expert tier, not the $1,500 one.
Second, phone isn't covered. Chatdesk's expert job ad promises applicants they will "never have to take phone calls" (Remarkable AI job listing). The only phone product is the $99 call-deflection tool, which pushes callers to text. If calls are a real share of your volume, you need a separate phone support setup, and that is a second bill.
What Chatdesk costs at three store sizes
Here is what the published prices mean at three realistic volumes. We use the visible $3.00-a-conversation rate as the list price. We use the old per-ticket ladder as a rough guide to what a volume discount might look like. Your real quote will land somewhere around that range, and only sales can tell you where.

A small brand doing 500 conversations a month. Chatdesk's starter plan fits exactly: $1,500 a month, plus a $99 one-time fee to connect Shopify. That buys up to 24/7 coverage on email, social and SMS. At this size Chatdesk is clearly cheaper than a flat $5,000 service, and we'd say so to a friend.
A growing brand doing 2,000 conversations a month. At list price that is $6,000 a month. The old ladder priced 2,000 tickets at $4,800, so a negotiated quote might land between the two. That is roughly the same as eesel Managed Support at $5,000 flat. At this size the deciding factor is coverage. Chatdesk's $1,500-tier plan has a 6-hour email target and no phone. eesel's flat fee covers phone, reviews and WhatsApp too.
A larger brand doing 5,000 conversations a month. List price is $15,000 a month, and the old ladder's 5,000-ticket price was $11,500. Want live chat with 1-2 minute responses? Add dedicated experts at $3,900 each. A Black Friday spike at twice that volume could push a usage bill to somewhere between $21,000 (old ladder) and $30,000 (list) for the month. The peak-season maths is where per-conversation pricing hurts most. eesel's $5,000 is built for brands up to about 5,000 conversations a month, so at this size the gap is large.
The break-even point is easy to work out. $5,000 divided by $3.00 is about 1,667 conversations a month at Chatdesk's list price. At the old ladder's $2.40 rate it is about 2,080. Below that range, Chatdesk is the cheaper bill. Above it, a flat fee wins, and the gap widens every month you grow.
What customers say about the value
Public reviews of Chatdesk are thin and mostly old. We count about 35 across G2 (4.8/5 from 13 reviews, 8 of them incentivized), the Shopify App Store and the Gorgias partner directory. Most date from 2020 to 2023, and nobody publicly reports what they paid. What buyers praise most is exactly what the per-conversation model is built for: flexible capacity for spiky, seasonal volume.
"Our business fluctuates seasonally so Chatdesk's flexibility allows us to seamlessly scale our team based on demand."
Andie, Shopify App Store review, August 2020
"Chatdesk has helped us solve the challenge of providing reliable, quality customer support as a new brand with a small internal team."
Matthew P., President, Beverlin Hills, G2, September 2025
The complaints are about speed, not price. Four reviews mention tickets that were sometimes slow to get handled, which fits the 6-hour email target on the on-demand plan. One G2 reviewer put it simply:
"sometimes it's too slow but manageable. Other than that no more issues"
Jennifer B., mid-market, G2, November 2023
The most interesting pricing signal comes from the other side of the platform. Chatdesk's freelance experts discuss their pay openly on Reddit. A former expert who worked there for 2.5 years described what experts earned per ticket:
"The companies I supported paid $0.50 -$0.70 per ticket answered. Not much, but it adds up."
u/AirlineValuable611, r/VirtualAssistantPH, October 2025
So of the $2.00 to $3.00 a brand pays per conversation, the person typing the reply earns well under a dollar. The rest pays for the AI drafting, quality checks, the Client Success Manager and the platform. That split is normal for managed services, and it isn't a criticism on its own. It does tell you where the value has to come from. You are paying mostly for the system, not the hours. Chatdesk's CEO says as much. In a LinkedIn post about what AI is good at, Nate (Aneto) Okonkwo wrote that the Chatdesk platform is "how we can onboard new brands so quickly, scale 1:1 customer engagement, and keep pricing low".
A different expert, writing in r/smallbusiness in November 2024, said the small brand she supported "decided that it was too expensive for them to continue with Chatdesk". That is secondhand, but it lines up with the jump in the entry price.
Is Chatdesk worth the price?
For the right brand, yes. Chatdesk's pricing is more transparent than most of the outsourcing market. There is no overtime premium. You don't pay for idle agents, and the free pilot lets you test quality before spending anything. A social-heavy beauty or fashion brand with a few hundred to about 1,700 conversations a month will struggle to get 24/7, on-brand coverage cheaper anywhere else.
It is a weaker deal in three situations:
- You are past about 1,700 conversations a month. The meter keeps running, and the published discount curve is shallow ($2.50 down to $2.00 across the whole old ladder).
- You need speed on email or live chat. The fast service levels sit on the $3,900-per-expert dedicated tier, not the $1,500 plan.
- Your customers call you. Chatdesk's experts don't take phone calls, so you'd be paying for a second service anyway.
The less obvious point is that the unit you buy shapes how you run support. On a per-conversation meter, every extra reply you ask for costs money. So brands quietly narrow the scope ("just pre-sale comments, please") to keep the bill down. A flat fee flips that, because answering one more review or WhatsApp message costs nothing extra. If you want every channel answered rather than a rationed few, look at a flat price, whoever provides it.
Try eesel Managed Support
If your volume is past the break-even point, or your customers reach you on more channels than Chatdesk covers, eesel Managed Support is the flat-price alternative. For $5,000 a month, eesel's AI agents answer every conversation inside your existing tools: email and helpdesk, Instagram, Facebook and TikTok DMs, SMS, WhatsApp, reviews and phone. eesel's own team watches over the AI and handles escalations. There is no setup fee, no per-ticket meter and no contract, and it is built for brands with up to about 5,000 conversations a month.

To be straight with you: Managed Support is new, and it is in a founding-partner beta with 30 spots. There are no customer results for it yet. eesel's self-serve AI agents do have published customer stories, and Managed Support runs on that same AI. It is not the right fit for phone-heavy operations, regulated industries or very high volumes, and teams who would rather run the AI themselves should look at eesel's self-serve plans instead. If your brand is a fit, you'll get a weekly briefing on what customers asked and what's costing you sales, and a real person on our team you can message anytime. Claim a founding spot and a founder will reply.
