Domain rating: where you really stand against the sites you compete with
Domain Rating is a quick read on backlink authority. On its own it is a vanity number. Next to your competitors it tells you whether content or links are your real bottleneck.

What it does
Give it your domain and a few competitors. It pulls DR, referring domains, and backlink counts for each, side by side, so the comparison is in one place instead of five browser tabs.
How to read it
- Your DR is close to competitors but you still lose: the gap is page-level. Look at backlink gaps and on-page intent, not domain authority.
- Your DR is well below competitors: links are a real constraint. Authority will take sustained referring-domain growth, not a content sprint.
- Your DR is ahead but traffic is not: you are not targeting the right queries. Run the keyword explorer.
Bring your own key
This is a bring-your-own-key skill. eesel provides the read and the comparison; you bring the Ahrefs access. The number on this page is a canned sample, the live pull runs on your domains once you connect.
